Country Thunder . . . city slicker style, live in Calgary! The first year of our debut inner city festival in Calgary Alberta featuring Luke Bryan, Big & Rich, Tim McGraw and many more as they invade Prairie Winds Park in NE Calgary for one unforgettable weekend. August 19-21, 2016. Be there!
FESTIVAL MEMORIES...
Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta is always memorable, but last year ?s festival is one that will end up as a radio career highlight for me. We spent the majority of 2015 advising listeners there was a major change coming in the summer for CFCW. We would be changing frequencies from 790, a dial position many grew up listening to (including myself) and hadn?t budged in years, to 840 on the AM dial. It would make sense to mark this monumental ?flip? during the 8th month of year, which by chance, coincided with BVJ. It was decided we would ?flip the switch? right there on the BVJmain stage at 8:40pm right before the Saturday headliner, Brad Paisley. The entire on-air staff gathered on stage
FESTIVAL MEMORIES... as I introduced them one by one. The rest of the staff and our spouses were lined up in the concert bowl in a show of support. The countdown was made and the flip began. Along with a live simulcast for audiences at home to hear what was happening on stage, it was the perfect way to include as many of our listeners as possible in this historic event. The moment that gave me the most chills was right before we walked off stage to celebrate - the station jingle played above and the crowd cheered & sang along to it? ?Cee-F-Cee-Double-Youuuuuuuuu!? That?s a moment I?ll never forget. Stella Stevens 840 CFCW Mornings Edmonton
