The SPCC is a pilot program that the USDA-NRCS is implementing to assist ag producers in complying with the revised EPA regulations. The initiative will help with the cost of developing plans for fuel storage and with the implementation of the storage plans. A fuel storage plan is required for farms which have an aggregate storage capacity of more than 1320 gallons. A farm with at least 1320 gallons, but less than 10,000 gallons can self certify a plan at http://nmpf.org/files/file/SPCC-Plan-Template-FinalSept-20-2010-FORM.pdf Farm facilities with between 1320 and 10,000 gallons are eligible for financial assistance to construct a containment structure. Facilities with above ground storage of 10,000 gallons or more are required to have a plan prepared by a registered Professional Engineer. These facilities are eligible for financial assistance to hire a registered Professional Engineer to develop a plan and eligible for financial assistance to construct the containment structure. If you are interested in this pilot program, stop by the NRCS office in Bowman at 111 2nd Ave NW to discuss the details and sign an application to be considered for funding. Applications on file as of close of business on June 11, 2012 will be considered for funding.

Operators, who wish to cut and make road ditch hay, please be advised that the Slope County Weed Control may have sprayed portions of the road ditch with herbicides for noxious weed control. Some of the herbicides used may have a haying or grazing restriction, meaning that a certain amount of time must pass after herbicide application and before haying or grazing operations may begin. These restrictions are determined by the herbicide label. Since spraying operations will be conducted over the course of the summer and are dependent upon the weather, it is impossible to set a timetable for spraying and haying in any specific area. If anyone is planning to cut ditch hay they should contact the Weed Control Officer to determine if and when a specific area has been treated and what the restriction timeline is. In June of 1994 the citizens of Bowman voted to approve a 1% City Sales Tax. The tax went into effect on October 1, 1994. Since its inception, $3,295,039.08 has been generated. As per ordinance, 100% of the collected taxes have gone to Healthcare in the city. Funding has been used for ambulance replacement, EMS training, equipment replacement, physician recruitment and upgrading existing equipment. None of the funds have been used for administration. The city’s current tax will expire on December 31, 2012. The renewal of the tax for another six years will appear on the June Election Ballot. A Yes vote means you want the tax to continue and a No vote means you do not want to continue the tax.
