Friday morning’s snowfall in Lincoln City was the most ever for the month of December since measurements were first recorded in the area in 1984, exceeding the previous high by two inches, unofficial statistics

The arctic weather blast that gripped the Oregon Coast forced schools to close Dec. 6 and Dec. 9, challenged drivers, and those walking, and kept local plumbers busy.

A spaghetti dinner, sock hop and raffle will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Lincoln City Community Center to raise money to help pay medical expenses for 3-year-old Otis resident Daniel Christiansen, who is battling Stage 4 brain cancer. “He is a happy little boy who loves cars and trains,” said Stephanie Christiansen, Daniel’s mother. “He might be weak, but he loves to do stuff.” Daniel was first diagnosed with the cancer in 2012 and it reoccurred in August of this year. “It is harder for him the second time around,” said Christiansen. “Just before the operation, the doctors told me to give Daniel a hug because it would probably be the last time I saw him.” But Daniel survived
