North Yorkshire remains one of the UK’s most popular holiday coasts, thanks to a stunning array of attractions in and around its superb landscapes, including two National Parks – the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors – and a coast with fantastic beaches and resorts including Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.

Simple pleasures like beachcombing, paddling and eating the freshest of fish & chips on the seafront are complemented by boat tours, heritage railway trips, landmarks and attractions such as Whitby’s Captain Cook Memorial Museum and clifftop abbey and Gothic heritage of Count Dracula; the Turkish baths and Betty’s Tea Rooms in stylish Harrogate; Wensleydale Creamery and York itself, packed with interest from medieval streets to the National Railway Museum.

Industrial history is celebrated on the 110 mile Cleveland Way. The Land of Iron interactive museum reopened last year after a £2.3 million revamp in Skinningrove. The site was originally Loftus Mine, first of 83 ironstone workings which supplied iron worldwide from 1848.

5 Stone Row, North Yorkshire Seaside Holiday Cottage

Holiday Cottage in sleepy Skinningrove, Sleeps 4 (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms), Dog Friendly, Two fabulous dog friendly beaches just yards from the front door

The 1840’s traditional sandstone terraced cottage offers a quiet enclosed garden and sleeps four in two bedrooms. Located in the sleepy coastal village of Skiningrove, near Saltburn-by-the-Sea and just north of the popular tourist towns of Staithes and Whitby and the beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors. With an industrial history, today Skiningrove is primarily residential with a scattering of holiday cottages. Despite the fantastic sandy beach and small active harbour for hobby fisherman, the village is somewhat yet undiscovered by the North Yorkshire tourist trade. This enables 5 Stone Row visitors to escape for a peaceful holiday by the coast, without the crowds of the nearby bustling resorts of Whitby or Staithes.

The village is also popular with walkers, as it is located directly on the Cleveland Way footpath. Take the opportunity to climb up to enjoy stunning coastal views within minutes of the cottage’s front door.
