COWORTH PARK UNVEIL NEW ACCOMMODATION
Dorchester Collection's Michelin-starred country house hotel and spa, Coworth Park, set in 240 acres of Berkshire parkland, unveils a new three-bedroom, private, stand-alone gatehouse cottage. It's the second cottage on-site along with the Dower House. Offering the ultimate staycation, North Lodge at Coworth Park has a private driveway, three spacious bedrooms, lobby, dining room and kitchen where guests can cook for themselves or have a dedicated chef to cater for them. Guests can make use of the private garden with an outdoor dining area, perfect for summer barbecues and al fresco cocktails. The latest addition to Coworth Park’s 71 luxury rooms and suites, the lodge has been carefully designed, and restored, to capture the hotel’s charm and residential origins and introduces artwork by local artists. The interiors echo the changing seasons at Coworth Park with antiques sourced from the local villages and neighbouring Windsor. The design approach is one of comfort, simple beauty and attention to detail, creating a relaxed and informal environment. The master bedroom is a large airy suite with a super king-sized bed, high ceilings and dual-aspect views of the meadow and the private garden. The en-suite bathroom features a copper bathtub, double vanity, and a large walk-in shower. The Turret Room features a king-sized bed and a walk-in dressing area and a further double room, known as the Snug boasts views across the wildflower meadow. The highlight of North Lodge is the open plan kitchen and dining room with space for up to 10 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with top of the range Miele appliances although guests can take advantage of the dedicated chef who, on request, can prepare the same Coworth Park restaurant-quality food. The chef can host a private masterclass around the dining table. The French doors open from the kitchen dining room on to the private garden, featuring a decked area. There's a tranquil sitting room with an original open wood-burning stove, perfect for cosy wintry staycations. North Lodge is the nearest accommodation to The Spa at Coworth Park, a contemporary eco-luxury setting home to eight
treatment rooms including two doubles, a manicure and pedicure suite, relaxation room, The Spatisserie, gym, indoor pool and outdoor sun terrace with loungers. Coworth Park's Mansion House is just a short walk for guests to enjoy Michelin-starred Restaurant Coworth Park under the culinary guidance of executive chef Adam Smith, as well as seasonal cocktails in The Bar, and the Drawing Room where award-winning afternoon tea is served. Alternatively, guests can choose to dine more casually in The Barn. There are buggies on hand to make the journey around the grounds easy for all and those staying at the lodge have access to the Equestrian Centre. De Vere collection donates to NHS Charities Together
De Vere, a collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels across the UK with properties located in Berkshire (Wokefield Estate) and Buckinghamshire (Latimer Estate) has donated £202,248 to NHS Charities Together to help NHS staff, volunteers and patients at the centre of the Covid-19 crisis. The money was raised when De Vere pledged a proportion of the value of each direct bedroom booking, including VAT, to NHS Charities Together* after the hotels were allowed to open in August 2020. De Vere's donation will help support NHS staff, volunteers and patients in key areas including welfare and wellbeing, assistance for patients leaving the hospital, and long-term mental health support for NHS workers. Tony Troy, CEO at De Vere said: "We continue to be humbled by the extraordinary efforts from those working on the front line to help us in the fight against Covid-19. We all have a part to play to help defeat the virus and the donation is just another way as a company that we can give back and thank the NHS for all their hard work and sacrifice. We would like to thank all the guests who stayed with us last summer, helping to raise the money." Ellie Orton, chief executive of NHS Charities Together, said: "We're so grateful to De Vere for its support of NHS Charities Together. Donations mean NHS charities across the country can continue to be there for NHS staff, volunteers, and patients – helping with immediate needs, and supporting mental health and wellbeing, now and in the future. Thank you to De Vere and its customers for supporting our appeal." To book your minimoon, honeymoon or wedding at a De Vere property, visit www.devere.co.uk and turn to page 27 to read more.

William Thomson, once the friendly face at the concierge desk at Oxford's Randolph Hotel, has launched his new business, the concierge and event-planning venture Ask William. The event organiser is cautiously confident in the return of celebrations. According to William, many people have saved money during the lockdown and have the funds to party in style. He tells us, "Last year was the year of the delayed weddings but we are now sensing an urgency for bookings and arrangements for this summer and beyond." William has been a familiar face for locals and visitors to Oxford for more than fifteen years. He started his career at the Bear Hotel in Woodstock at age 18 before quickly moving on
to assist guests as the flamboyant head concierge of Oxford's five-star Randolph hotel on Beaumont Street. He is now busy drawing on his large professional network to form expert and colourful teams, ready to create and deliver exceptional events. William is Oxford's only member of the international group of elite concierges, Les Clefs d'Or, giving him access to top-class assistance around the world. He works with specialists such as chauffeur Jonathan Sayers, owner of Concierge Wedding Cars (pictured here with William). nna and Justin have known one another since they were 18 years old. “Justin is my best friend's brother,” Anna tells us. “We lost contact and got back in touch at her wedding and our relationship developed from there.” The couple became engaged during a surprise proposal. “Justin asked me to marry him on my 40th birthday,” Anna explains. “We were on holiday in Spain in the most romantic setting with views stretching across to the tip of Morocco when he asked me. It was a complete surprise and I was very shocked and happy!”
SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose to get married in Windsor because they love the area. They opted for a ceremony in a register office followed by a hotel reception. “We loved the fact that we could plan a barbecue at the Sir Christopher Wren hotel followed by a boat party which our guests loved!” Anna says. “There was a slight change of plan because it rained so we had to eat inside. We were seated with our best men, bridesmaids and their mums.” The couple chose a vintage theme for their big day with plenty of decorative touches. “As centrepieces, we displayed photographs of us on our travels stuck to party hats and named the tables after the countries we have visited together,” Anna says. “We decorated jam jars with hessian and lace and filled them with brightly coloured flowers that were homegrown in our garden.” The couple's friend made their two-tier chocolate cake decorated with Mr & Mrs bunting and flowers. “It looked great and tasted delicious,” Anna says, “and everyone devoured it!” The couple left their register office ceremony as newlyweds to travel to the reception in a vintage morris minor convertible. "It was a stunning cream car with a red roof that suited our theme," Anna tells us. "It was leant to us by a friend and looked fabulous in our photographs."

Justin picked a blue vintage-style suit which he teamed with a grey waistcoat, white shirt, pink tie, a pair of brown brogues and a cream rose buttonhole. “He looked so handsome!” Anna tells us, “and our bridesmaids looked pretty in their pale pink and ivory dresses teamed with floral hair circlets and stunning posies.”

Victoria and Christian chose a springthemed afternoon tea reception at the Pinewood hotel in Slough to celebrate. Here, Victoria tells us all about their colourful day and the loving help they received from their creative family and friends Images courtesy of Graham Lee at Yellow Door Wedding Photography
We held our ceremony at Staines Salvation Army church which was conducted by our Chr istian church leaders. The kind words and prayers from our loved ones will always be with us. Looking back now at how 2020 evolved, we were so lucky to be able to have 200 gue sts gather in the church with us.
“We loved Pinewood, the hotel we chose for our reception because the location was great and the team were there for us, helping create the wedding we wanted. Our wishes were listened to and they went above and beyond to make them happen. After deciding on it as our venue, we visited a wedding fair there to research local suppliers.” – Victoria and Christian
My father has always been very interested in cars so let us use his one for our wedding. One of Christian’s best men owns a convertible which they both arrived in.
Our spring theme combined a mix of bright colours in the details including green, blue and yellow. 42
Many of our dates were spent enjo ying afternoon tea so this became our natural choice for our wedding breakfast. The team at Pinewood added some delicious hot options including tarts and sausage rolls and the food was fantastic, all our guests loved it. They catered for everybody’s needs and there was plenty of it.
Our tables were named after different tea blends because we met and got to know one another serving tea and coffee at our Christian Union. We painted little wooden teapot signs in different colours and displayed the table names on each one. For our favours, we made jam and a blend of our favourite tea for our guests which was presented on the tables in named envelopes doubling up as place names.
REAL WEDDINGS
We had silver and white balloons in archway along with a few balloon trees. The venue didn’t need to much as it was beautiful already.
ps of g flowers to add po We decided on sprin p ces were large teacu colour. Our centrepie ew gr planted bulbs that planters in which we dding. s in time for our we into wonderful bloom
We wrapped the same ribbon that decorated the chairs around a selection of three different-sized metal hoops along with fairylights and then suspended our table plan from them.
We have a family tradition where the bride’s mother makes the wedding dress so to get the idea of style and colour, we visited Wedding Frox in Cranleigh which I can’t recommend enough. They helped me to find a style that suited my figure so we then started sourcing the fabric - I love anything that sparkles so opted for iridescent sequins and lace. I teamed my dress with some yellow shoes featuring a small blue gem under the sole as my something blue, a veil made by my auntie and a glittery headpiece which I loved!
Two of our friends made a colourful balloon arch to welcome us to our wedding breakfast. We displayed bunches of balloons around the reception room too.
We hired a DJ to entertain everyone during the evening and also left card games on the tables for those who didn’t want to dance.
THE DREAM TEAM
My mum also made our cake, along with my cousin, Helen, who is a cake designer. It featured four layers that were all different flavours, and we both chose our two favourites. Christian decided on carrot and lemon cake and I chose red velvet and a vanilla tier that was the one we cut because of the bright colours. I got involved and made the sugar flowers to decorate it with!
“Our photographer, Graham, was fantastic from the moment we met him. He is such a talented photographer and understood the style of photography that we wanted.” – Victoria and Christian

uella and Steve met in a local pub and hit it off immediately. “Steve was attending a wedding in Mexico two months after we met and he invited me to go with him,” Suella tells us. “ We grew close during that trip and bonded over our mutual love of chillies and sunny beaches! We both realised there was something very special between us and, by the end of our first year together, we had moved in together.” The couple became engaged during an intimate proposal at home. “Steve arrived home one morning from a business trip to Chicago and proposed at lunchtime, in the kitchen with our son present. It was a wonderful surprise!” Here, Suella tells us all about their small, city wedding.
Due to the restrictions in place at the time we wanted to get married , we knew that we couldn’t have the larger wedding that we originally planned afte r beco ming engaged. Steve’s family live in Chicago mea ning they couldn’t travel over so we live -streamed our ceremony via Zoom so that they could be part of it which felt very special.
We had originally booked our wedding for November but suspected there might be another lockdown by then so we moved the date forward and managed to get married before the restrictions were tightened again. We booked the Dexter Room at the Oxford Register Office which was allowing up to eight guests at the time meaning that we could have our son, my parents and a photographer in the room with us.

EXPERT ADVICE
HOT TOPIC Our experts answer your questions
SOUNDS OF SUMMER
We’re planning an intimate summer celebration and want to entertain our guests with a live musician, what can you suggest?
Photography of paper flower hair accessory courtesy of https://katrinamatthewsphotography.co.uk
Meet the expert: Lewis Bolland is a wedding and events pianist based in Berkshire. He was taught to play by his grandmother at the age of five and by the time he turned 15-years-old, he was a student-teacher. Today, Lewis runs a modern piano school and frequently plays at weddings, proposals and corporate events. Lewis says: A pianist is a fantastic choice for a small wedding. The piano produces a warm, welcoming sound that greets guests, and is a romantic choice as you walk down the aisle. Wedding music should be subtle, elegant and flow on the day. Your song choice, especially for the ceremony, doesn’t have to be a traditional or classical piece, it can be a modern pop, dance or rock track, or a favourite song from a soundtrack. I always prepare an arrangement of a couple’s chosen piece to be around one-and-a-half minutes long so if requesting a song, ensure that you communicate what your favourite parts of the track are with your performer beforehand. During the drinks reception and wedding breakfast, I would suggest that the pianist plays well-known pop, rock and traditional tracks for everyone to enjoy. A playlist to cover all tastes is
important. If live music isn’t required throughout the reception then I’d recommend preparing a playlist of your favourite songs that mean something to you both. Spotify and Apple Music have some great wedding playlists. In the evening, you might want to book a DJ or a band to get guests dancing, but there’s nothing like a live performance at this point in the celebration. Having a pianist play your favourite song for your first dance as everyone looks on is a special way to end your big day! www.lewisbollandmusic.com | www.facebook.com/ lewisbollandmusic | www.instagram.com/lewisbollandmusic
IN FULL BLOOM
Meet the expert: Jennie Wade is the talent behind Blooms of Bierton creating handmade paper flowers. We want a wow-factor backdrop at our micro wedding, what can you suggest? Jennie says: Micro weddings are very popular at the moment but planning a small soirée doesn’t mean that you can’t splash out on a statement backdrop. Handmade paper flowers make an Insta-worthy choice, from delicate hair accessories that can be made to tie in with the venue and ceremony flowers, to a handmade paper flower wall. Why not decorate wedding signage or a table plan with paper blooms, or place a mix of paper flowers in different sizes at either side of a table centrepiece? Surprise your guests with a fun Mr and Mrs wreath or have their names personalised in gold against a set of small roses as place settings. They make a fun keepsake for after the wedding too! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BloomsofBierton | www.facebook.com/ bloomsbyjennie | www.instagram.com/blooms_of_bierton 51
NEW BEGINNINGS
Can you show me some ideas for wedding dress styles that will suit a low-key, latesummer wedding? Meet the expert: Rhian Jenkins is the director and consultant at New Beginnings Bridal Boutique based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, which has just undergone extensive remodelling with marble flooring and underfloor heating, and ornate leaner mirrors. Rhian says: We’re seeing an increase in requests for laid-back, bohemian styles in soft floaty fabrics and fine lace for weddings this summer. Easy-to-wear is a great way to describe this style! Sparkle was a big trend for weddings in 2019 and 2020 but plain A-line and sheath silhouettes are popular in the 2021 collections and are incredibly flattering on most body shapes and sizes. The beauty of these simplistic styles is that they work well with any type of wedding - they can be dressed up or down. We have a large collection of new gowns in stock from designers including w.too, Willowby and Enzoani. We’re also offering our bridesto-be luxury gift bags with a value of more than £600 when they purchase their dream dress at New Beginnings! 07496 631 318 www.newbeginningsmk.co.uk www.facebook.com/newbeginningsmk www.instagram.com/newbeginningsmk
BEAUTY FROM WITHIN
How can I take care of my wellbeing ahead of my wedding and not feel overwhelmed with the planning? Meet the expert: Mia Towndrow is a qualified massage therapist, reflexologist and reiki specialist and the owner of Pure Wellbeing Therapy based in Crowthorne. She offers a mobile service throughout Wokingham, Ascot, Reading and surrounding areas. Mia says: It’s essential to take care of your wellbeing in the leadup to your wedding by investing in some me-time. Pre-wedding pampering and self-care are vital to helping us not only look, but also feel, amazing from the inside. Too often, brides-to-be are focusing on finding their dress, choosing make-up and hairstyles and worrying about the guest list. But by the time the wedding approaches, they can be left feeling physically and mentally drained before a day that’s meant to be a happy occasion. It’s worth investing in some pampering treatments at least a few weeks, or months, before your wedding. Some of my best-selling holistic treatments are bespoke packages which include Indian head massage, holistic facials, Swedish or aromatherapy massage, reflexology and reiki. Indian head massage can deeply relax the mind and body and has many benefits. Based on Ayurvedic techniques, I massage the scalp, neck and back using acupressure techniques on the face to help release and drain toxins naturally. The treatment helps 52
to release muscular tension around the scalp and upper body and provide natural pain relief for headaches and migraines. It also improves sleep and increases mental clarity, and also stimulates hair growth. Aromatherapy massage combines the use of essential oils and therapeutic massage. It’s deeply beneficial for a bride who is feeling overwhelmed. Essential oils are wonderful at healing the body naturally. An oil blend, for example, clary sage and ylang-ylang, will provide uplifting, relaxing and anti-viral properties that benefit the nervous and immune system. It helps promote good skin and ease any inflammation, muscular aches and pains, cramps, and fluid retention, and can also aid digestion. Combining treatments with therapy such as reiki, which originates from Japan, is also healing for the body and mind. It can help the bride feel balanced, release tension, improve focus, and promote good health. 07549 076 255 | www.facebook.com/purewellbeingtherapy www.instagram.com/purewellbeingtherapy

EXPERT ADVICE
PHOTOGRAPHY SPECIAL How can I best prepare for being in front of the camera on my wedding day? Meet the expert: Horatio Blajan is a wedding photographer based in Buckinghamshire. Horatio says: A bridal shoot is a great way of gaining confidence in front of the camera before the big day itself and I offer these for brides or couples together. I also provide albums or prints from these shoots which make a wonderful keepsake. My wife is a certified make-up artist (www.cosminamakeupartist.com) and can also be booked for studio shoots. If your budget doesn’t stretch to a shoot before your wedding then ask to meet your photographer via Zoom because it’s important to build a relationship early on between you all. Engaging with your chosen photographer sooner rather than later is a top tip because with pent-up demand after the restrictions on weddings, they’ll no doubt get booked up very quickly. Meet the expert: Vicky Lewis is an Oxfordshirebased wedding photographer capturing real and beautiful moments as they unfold. Vicky says: Choosing the right wedding venue can take time because there are many different elements to come together. Here in Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, we have some magnificent venues. Special places that spring to mind are the historic www.caswellhouse.co.uk located in Brize Norton that offers stunning photo opportunities at every turn, including a moat and a manicured walled garden. There’s also access to the landscaped courtyards, pretty gardens, a pond with a bridge crossing it, and open countryside boasting panoramic views. The outdoor Loggia is perfect for summer ceremonies and the charming barns are a romantic, cosy option during winter. The property is the ideal choice for those living an eco-conscious lifestyle because the team generate pure spring water and electricity from solar panels. Another favourite of mine is www.strattoncourtbarn. co.uk, flanked by idyllic countryside with a tree-lined drive. The picturesque courtyard offers wonderful photo opportunities, as does the light and airy barn. Be sure to check out www.witneylakes.com; www.wortonhall.co.uk; www.cogges.org.uk and www. thetythebarn.co.uk. A venue can give you a great feeling on your first visit but read the reviews and view it at different times, including during the evening. 07748 520 838 | www.vickyphotography.co.uk www.facebook.com/VickyLewisPhotography www.instagram.com/vickylewisphotography
Meet the expert: Rossana Novella is a photographer capturing timeless, natural images in a relaxed style and setting. She documents weddings and special occasions and also specialises in editorial, portrait and boudoir photography. Rossana says: I offer brides-to-be an editorial-style portrait session in my Berkshire-based studio or an outdoor location. The images can be presented as prints, or framed in a large print, and they make a wonderful memory or a great gift idea. On the actual wedding day, time goes by so fast, so it’s wonderful to be able to capture some images beforehand in a relaxed setting. Why buy a wedding dress that you only wear once! Bring it along and if venturing outside, you could have an editorial-style portrait taken on a beach or in a woodland area, the choice is yours and we will work together to create something memorable. 07789 910 862 | www.rossananovella.com www.facebook.com/rossananovellaphotography www.instagram.com/rossana.novella

CAKES
THE SWEET SPOT We celebrate the return of weddings with these mouth-watering designs, perfect for micro celebrations
Who? Clare Dovey-Wilson is the talent behind Dovey Cake Design What? Handmade couture creations Where? South Oxfordshire
“Use sugar flowers and dramatic details to give your cake wow factor, even if it’s petite. Here, I used a dark and dramatic bouquet of sugar peonies, anemones and foliage, displayed over edible gold sequins - guaranteed to get your guests talking!” - Clare
“For a modern micro wedding, consider abandoning the traditional large, tiered wedding cake in favour of a dessert table of smaller ones. When presented on stands, and with other styled props, this approach creates a fabulous centrepiece. You could even spoil your intimate wedding party by adding a variety of cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and meringues.” - Clare “A plain or lightly textured fondant background streamlines your cake and creates a blank canvas for fresh flowers to pop. This tall elegant cake stand and a cake topper add height to the 60-portion design.” - Clare www.nicolabelson.co.uk
“A small cake can still be a focal point at your wedding. Standout details like handmade sugar flowers and gold or silver-leaf tiers add Insta-worthy touches. Consider investing in these design details to ensure that your cakecutting photographs are a beautiful reflection of your day.” - Clare
Top tip:
“Attending The Cake College would be a great way for couples to learn how to create their own micro wedding cake!” - Clare (www.thecakecollege.com) “A petite single tier can look beautiful when adorned with fine details which may be lost on a larger cake. Consider asking your designer to incorporate intricate royal icing piping or more complex sugar blooms. Here, I used freesias, the bride's favourite blooms.” - Clare
“A single-tier doesn’t have to lack impact. Using a layer with extended height creates a statement piece for your wedding day. Here, I’ve used hand-painted florals in edible paint, and added even more height with wafer paper flowers, accentuated with gold.” - Clare
“Even if your wedding is small, the cake doesn’t have to be! Using false tiers means that your imagination can run wild without being restricted to one or two tiers. The two silver layers here are dummy ones, resulting in a beautiful, contemporary and elegant wedding cake, without any waste.” - Clare

Top tip:
“When ordering a cake for a large wedding, not every guest will eat their piece so it’s customary to order sufficient cake for 70% of your guests.” - Lorna
“This pretty two-tier design measuring 6-inch round and 4-inch round features pink and lilac sugar roses and a vintage floral print. It’s the perfect size for a micro wedding with up to 15 guests. It would look perfect as the centrepiece for an afternoon tea reception.” - Lorna
“From 21st June 2021, when we will hopefully have weddings with unrestricted guest numbers taking place again, we will see large wedding cakes taking centre stage. This blue-and-white cake is a standard three-tier design measuring 10-inch, 8-inch and 6-inch round, and serves approximately 70 guests.” - Lorna

Lucy Jade Sylvester creates beautiful pieces inspired by coastlines and the countryside. She tells us, “You cannot compete with the beauty of nature, its perfect lines and textures, which are reflected in my jewellery. I take moulds from woodland finds near my Oxfordshire-based studio and then cast them into the cavity they leave, the process allowing me to create exact replicas of life in solid silver and gold that retain the finest details. Texture and patterns from cow parsley stems, ryegrass, leaves, twigs and seed heads form wedding bands and engagement rings. The fragile veins and stems visible as the designs overlap to make a collection of fine botanical wedding jewellery, all cast from British countryside plants or shells with a scattering of diamonds. My work is evolving all the time, as the seasons change, the inspiration is new once more.” Lucy’s designs for her botanical bridal and woodland wedding collection are evolving constantly with engagement rings set with brilliant-cut, rose-cut and uncut diamonds. “These rings provide a timeless alternative for those who love our countryside and English gardens,” Lucy explains. 07989 436 458 | www.lucysylvester.co.uk www.facebook.com/LucyJadeSylvesterJewellery

The process will be made even easier by the Kymani Concierge app. Each member will have access to the app meaning they can pre-book and pre-pay for all their additional activities. An onsite guest relations team will be on hand at all times to ensure everything runs completely to plan, and that guests have everything they need. No need for needles! CLEAN AND CLEAR
We all know about the barrage of environmental abuse our facial skin battles on a daily basis, but what about our scalps? They too are faced with the impact of sweat, pollution, and various styling products. Centred creative director Kieran Tudor says, “Good scalp health is crucial for strong, healthy, beautiful hair, yet it’s often overlooked when it comes to hair care regimes.” A deeply nourishing blend of olive, argan and hemp oils, Centred En-Root Scalp Treatment replenishes moisture to dry brittle hair, while exfoliating the scalp and removing product build up and dead skin cells. What’s more, the blend of rosemary and peppermint essential oils stimulates blood flow to the hair follicles maximising hair growth potential. Priced at £36 from www.wearecentred.com
Self-tanning fave Skinny Tan has unveiled its latest product – Notox Beauty Elixir. It’s a smoothing, plumping facial serum specifically formulated to supply your skin with instant anti-aging effects and a glowing gradual selftan. So, say “no” to Botox, and “yes” to Notox! Getting Zoom-ready and embracing the minimal make-up look has never been easier. Notox Beauty Elixir is available at www.skinnytan.co.uk, priced at £19.99.

Finishing Touch Flawless Dermaplane Glo, £19.99 Available at Argos, ASDA, Boots, Tesco and Wilko Dermaplaning as a salon treatment has been around for a while, and quite frankly the very thought of it has always terrified me. So, I wasn’t too sure what to expect of this tool. I did my research on the benefits, genned up on this super-useful tutorial and I was ready to go. Wow, I don’t know what I was so worried about. It was easy to do and took no more than five to 10 minutes. Probably 10 for me as I got a bit addicted and couldn’t stop – I don’t recommend that though. It’s an incredibly satisfying process seeing all of that peach fuzz and dead skin disappear. I couldn’t believe how smooth my skin felt afterwards. Leave your skin to rest for around eight hours afterwards before you apply any skin products or make-up as it’s quite an intense exfoliation process, then repeat every two to four weeks. I can’t wait to see how regular use improves my skin further. I’m definitely sold on dermaplaning!
https://youtu.be/S2b5jX4yNyA
Kevyn Aucoin Kaleidochrome All-Over Highlight Palette, £39 www.lookfantastic.com This multi-tasking palette offers four shades of highlight suitable whatever the look you’re going for. I particularly loved the darker rose Space Party, which I used on my cheeks over my blusher for a radiant glow and Super Cosmic, which I added to the arch of my eyebrows and very top of my cheekbones. It really brought a multi-dimensional look to my make-up that can be tailored for day or night.
Eve Lom Radiance Transforming Mask, £65 www.spacenk.com I was surprised to find a balm texture when I first removed the lid, so was interested to see how this would go. Using the supplied spatula to remove the required amount of mask from the tub, I opted for generous dollop and began to massage it into my face as instructed. Its thick formula felt incredibly luxurious and I could already tell it was going to provide a pampering experience. I was particularly delighted by the advice to leave for a minimum of 30 minutes, which gave me an excuse to relax for a decent amount of time – none of this 10 minutes rubbish! When it was time to remove with warm water, I was delighted to find my skin looking renewed, beautifully supple and glowing.
PUT A SPRING IN YOUR STEP CWM’s beauty editor puts this season’s best buys to the test creating a head-to-toe makeover session you’ll love
Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Lip Duo, £18 www.sculptedbyaimee.com I’m a huge advocate for lip liners and their myriad benefits, but I do struggle to know which shade goes with which lipstick, find the two become separated and will admit to resenting buying both in the first place. So, these Lip Duos are a blessing! Not only are they perfectly colour matched offering you two products for the average price of one, but if your make-up bag is already packed, like mine, they offer a smart solution. I tried Mauve Match, which is a versatile neutral shade, ideal for everyday wear.
No Secrets One Body Jelly, £49 www.nosecretsbeauty.com This jellied body oil smells absolutely incredible with No Secrets’ signature blend of essential oils – bergamot, juniper, petitgrain, eucalyptus and lavender. Less messy than a traditional body oil, you just need to massage a little in at a time for smooth and beautifully soft skin. Plus, the amazing fragrance lasts. Perfect for a pamper. 84
Margaret Dabbs Cracked Heel Treatment, £18 www.margaretdabbs.co.uk Let me start by confessing that my heels are horrendous, always cracked and dry and nothing I try makes a difference. Until now that is. This product was well and truly put through its paces by my horrible hooves and the results were instant. After just one application the sandpaper effect was gone and with continued use it really is a miracle worker. It’s my new beauty essential, and I can’t wait to get the flip flops on!

EXPERT ADVICE
Beauty
Q&A
Three talented hair and make-up artists reveal the trends for summer weddings
Meet the expert: Sarah White is a hair and make-up artist with more than 17 years’ experience working in weddings, tv, film and fashion. Some of her most memorable jobs include working on the set of Pride & Prejudice and Casanova. Sarah says: Many beauty industry experts predict that 2021 will focus on lightweight foundations after months of being relatively make-up free during the lockdown period and having to wear face coverings. It will have inspired many brides-to-be to adopt a more natural look without the desire or need for heavy foundation coverage. Make-up trends for this coming year include placing more emphasis on the eyes with a smoky look but still achieving a fresh, classic feel that will look fab in photographs. Black eyeliner is a staple and so are statement long lashes emphasised with mascara. Hair is all about a casual, bohemian look with loose waves, undone braids and messy pigtails. For a touch of Hollywood glamour, loose buns and chignons offer a relaxed up do and other popular styles are short twist braids and small box braids - think natural textured unstructured hair. Meet the expert: Sophie Casey is a professional make-up artist and hair stylist based in Oxford specialising in weddings. Her career has seen her work in fashion, film and television including on Downton Abbey. Sophie says: Spend time on your skincare routine leading up to the big day because glowing skin starts from within. It needs plenty of moisture and exfoliation to eradicate dead skin cells. Find a long-wearing, water-based foundation to create a dewy but lasting look. I recommend Estée Lauder’s Futurist Hydra Rescue, £36, (www.esteelauder.co.uk) or Chanel’s Les Beiges Bronzing Cream, £41, (www.chanel.com) - an essential combination to withstand the heat of summer. Create a warm, auburn smoky eye that’s versatile for the ceremony and reception using a variation of gold, brown, copper and cream shades. Try Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter eyeshadow, £34, (www.charlottetilbury.com). Finish by adding a smudged black gel liner across the lash line to create a defined yet textured look. To complement the summer hues and your wedding flowers, apply a touch of peach on your cheeks, lips and the inner corners of your eyes using a cream-based blush or multi stick. Set the look with a light, translucent powder - summer in a compact! I love Glossier’s Cloud Paint, £15 (www.glossier.com) for a creamy, versatile blush.
Meet the expert: Pam Wrigley is an award-winning wedding make-up and hair stylist covering weddings throughout the three regions. She has more than 20 years’ experience and has been involved in the BAFTAS and London Fashion Week. Pam says: It’s all about curls this summer! Natural curls look wonderful but can be difficult to control so make sure you find a professional who knows how to handle your lovely locks because they are prone to frizz. With the right products and a bit of care and attention, you’ll be amazed at just how gorgeous and glossy your curls can be. It’s recommended to book a hair trial ahead of your wedding. Make sure you allow plenty of time between your trial and wedding date because your style needs time to settle so that you can see how it’s going to look, and last, on your big day. If you’ve found the perfect product for you then stop searching and let your stylist know and remember to take it to the trial. Loose curls worn down keep bridal hair looking natural and romantic – the ideal style for a low-key, relaxed summer wedding. Floral crowns are a great way to add colour and texture and can transform an up do. There are so many different options to choose from, from understated floral chains to a large bold wreath. Picking flowers that match the varieties in the bouquets and venue arrangements is a great way to tie the theme together. If you’re feeling greenfingered, you could even pick a few wildflowers and make your crown for a personal touch.
