ONE FINE DAY

Stormy weather failed to dampen Adriana and Matt’s joyful wedding

Adriana’s head was turned when she fi rst caught sight of Matt at their local gym. “I then contacted him via social media, sparked up a conversation and he asked me on a date that night,” she reveals. They went to TGI Fridays followed by a walk at local beauty spot St James’ Hill, Norwich – a winning combo which Matt repeated for the proposal!

“It came as a complete surprise,” Adriana recalls. “Matt text me while at work in the afternoon asking if I’d like to go out to eat.” He suggested the same restaurant and after-dinner walk and Adriana never cottoned on to the fact that something was afoot. “It was our fi rst date all over again, but I just thought it was a lovely idea as he wasn’t acting any differently. Then during the walk he pulled a box from his pocket and I burst into tears! We still laugh about it to this day because, for all I knew, it could have just been earrings instead of an engagement ring!” The wedding took place on 9th February, 2020 at The Assembly House, Norwich in the midst of a mega storm. Read on for Adriana’s account of their big day…

As soon as we saw The Assembly House I had a lump in my throat. I knew it was right for us and could picture our day there. It’s bright, spacious with beautiful chandeliers and doesn’t need much decoration as it’s already stunning.

All our friends and family live around Norwich so I wanted the wedding to be local.

Jamie at The Assembly House was incredible. He helped calm me down before the ceremony and checked up on me throughout the day to make sure everything was going well.

I styled my dress with a belt and wore a hairvine for extra sparkle.

Matt’s suit was from Slaters and his dad, who was his best man, had one to match.

My dad walked me up the aisle with our son Roman who looked adorable in his suit. He passed our rings to Matt and it was the cutest moment!

The food was amazing, we had afternoon tea after the ceremony and hog roast later in the evening once the reception guests arrived. In the evening we had a roulette table and the person with the most chips by the end of the night won a bottle of champagne.

The selfi e mirror came with some great props and guests could write a message on the mirror to print on their photo. Everyone got to keep theirs and at the end of the night there was an album of all the copies in our room, which was a lovely touch.

One of our favourite buys was our personalised cake topper from Amazon.

We had a beautiful fl ower wall which was perfect for indoor photos as Storm Ciara was raging outside on our wedding day!

I loved that we had seating in the grand hall for guests to relax and chat with the bar and DJ in the music room for a lively party atmosphere.

I was so excited on the day to see everything we’d planned fall into place and we both felt like a million dollars. and we both felt like a million dollars.

ADRIANA’S TOP TIP: “If you’re a bit rubbish at saving, like us, book everything well in advance so in the run-up to the big day you know how much you’ve got to put aside each month to pay all the suppliers.”
