Boiger’s concepts for sculpture are generally derived from his observation of natural forms. He analyzes and combines organic forms with figurative elements, deriving an “anthropomorphic hybrid” (particularly in his vertical pieces). Boiger’s work also shows a penchant for expressionism (particularly evident in the dynamic composition of his vertical figures) and is reminiscent of cycladic figures and tribal art forms. His tall vertical figures also bring to mind the totem carvings from the Pacific Northwest native carvers as well as contemporary works from such artists as Brancusi, Giacometti, and Moore.
