Chubb’s Bar & Q was born from the love of American Sports and serving up the coldest beers, the meatiest smoked ribs with chopped brisket, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken and the famous smoked wings with eight different sauces and rubs. How can you resist?

Only 400m from the Mighty Sea Eagles’ Brookie Oval, it’s a pre-game drink and feed spot. Or, if you’re more inclined, you can kick back with a beer in hand and watch the game on the 12 televisions dotted around the space. You’ll never miss a tackle, kick or scrum and have the best seat in the house.

Sports-crazed Gibbo is their biggest fan. So, we thought we’d get it straight from the horse’s mouth why Chubb’s Bar & Q is a Brookvale favourite.

Gibbo, tell us what you love about Chubb’s. 1. Food: Their smoked food is amazing; ribs, brisket, burgers, wings. 2. Beer: They serve beer in a frosty cold glass… it’s the little things. 3. Sport: You name it, they’ll play it.

A sports bar that does it right.

Tell us a little bit about the smoked fare on offer on Chubb’s menu. They have a massive smoker that the Pit Master commands to create the culinary magic. You can actually smell it from the other side of Brookie. Whether it’s the full meat platter or a good old burger, the food is awesome.

$5 schooners, is this true? What else is on tap? I have no idea. I drink the Balter and I know they have Coors, CC and Dry, and some cocktails. But I hear they have rotational tinnies for $5 as well.

Chubb’s owner, Jake. Tell me what he’s like and how he’s spreading the community love? Jake and I both play ice hockey and we’re both sports nuts, which is why the sports bar is so well set up. Chubb’s is also a supporter of many local sporting clubs, from the mighty Seasiders Baseball Club in Curl Curl to the Manly Bomber’s AFL club. They support numerous junior sports as well such as rugby, sailing and many more.

The crowd mix – who are you inviting for your Chubb’s gatherings? Anyone. My baseball team calls Chubb’s our clubhouse, but it’s great for families too. Loads of space for everyone to sit around and enjoy the atmosphere and food. But anyone looking to have a cold beer, chinwag or watch a game are welcome to join me.

Lots of motor bikes. How does that add to the atmosphere? Some amazing classic bikes line the walls and driveway of the neighbouring motorcycle garage, so there’s always something cool to check out.

Last words? It’s always great to support local business, and this one is a smoky, tasty, thirsty, sporty one that also gives back.
