Let’s Camp

Ruby Vickery is a fun and adventure-loving 10 year-old who has been enjoying her lifelong favourite holiday activity, camping. A few weeks ago, Ruby and her family headed to Knorrit Flats Riverside Retreat & Camping Ground – located 40 minutes from Taree – for a great camping adventure.

ON THE ROAD

Knorrit Flats – Riverside Retreat & Camping Ground is surrounded by green countryside, 337 km from Sydney. It’s a 4-hour drive with many stops along the way. Not far from the camping ground is a town called Wingham. It’s one of my favourite towns as there are many things to do there, such as going to the Wingham Museum and the famous Wingham Brush Nature Reserve. The Reserve even has it’s own boardwalk through the National Park. It’s also the traditional land of the Birrbay people.

Exploring is the key to adventure, and everyone will fi nd it in the town of Wingham. It’s only 40 km drive from Knorrit Flats.

THE EXPERIENCE

If you like to kayak rivers, then the Knorrit Flats Riverside Retreat & Camping Ground is for you. It’s completely relaxing and enjoyable for kids too. You can play cricket on the long grassed areas scattered in the grounds or have a dip in the Nowendoc River. It’s the best experience for family and groups of explorers like me. The scenery is simply breathtaking and has loads of unique fl ora and fauna. My tip for night time is to look up at the starry night sky. There are so many stars. Whether you’re a glamper or a camper, Knorrit Flats welcomes everyone. Look out for platypuses, kangaroos or even ringtail possums! The camping ground is accessible on a piece of unique beautiful farmland where you can exercise or relax. It’s an unforgettable experience that everyone can enjoy.

MEMORIES

Knorrit Flats is a place to remember whether you’re with friends, family or on your own.You can explore new things that you will never forget. The local towns are beautiful pieces of art with alleys and streets to explore. It was a new experience outside the busy city for me. All you need is a tent, hat and some marshmallows for the fi repit. You’ll have a good time with stories and laughs that will never be forgotten! FACILITIES
