BRIGHTON

Hang-ups have project hung up By TYLER LINDSEY tlindsey@covingtonleader.com On Tuesday, Feb. 8, the board meeting of mayor and aldermen was held in Brighton. Town officials discussed issues regarding the month of January as well as some on-going and future matters. Brighton Public Works reported the need for the pavement plan to resume in order to resolve worsening issues of accumulating potholes around the town of Brighton resulting from the recent winter weather. The town appears to be finding ways to save money here and there within various departments by working on their own equipment. The public works is putting forth an effort to help provide preventive maintenance and vehicle repair among other departments. Two police cars and a vehicle from Brighton Fire Department were serviced by the town’s public works and saved money. Additionally, the fire department is prompted every year to purchase three sets of fire apparel. This year, however, Tommy Dunavant brought to light the fact that it could be purchased through the Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security. This, in turn, helps with the funds that were needed to repair a fire engine leak and clutch. The Main Street renovations SEE PROJECT, PAGE A3
