NEWSLETTER Friday 21st June
Dear parents and carers, With nearly all our external examinations for Years 11 and 13 now complete, I would like to congratulate all students involved for their resilience and determination and thank all our staff members for their dedication, expertise and support. I would like to congratulate the CEC ukulele band, UCEClele, for making their second appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival last weekend. Thank you to the whole group and particular thanks to Amy, Alysa, Katy and Mimi who so brilliantly sang solos. The Electro Love tent was truly rocking with covers of Blur, The Clash and Bon Jovi, to name but a few. We had our development day this Monday and used it to spend time focusing on academy planning for next year and deepening our literacy support for students across the new academic year. We also held our first ever large scale Teach Meet. Every teacher presented on the action research classroom project which they have been working on across the year to colleagues. There was an amazing buzz in the room as teachers shared their development thinking and we are really gearing ourselves up for September with our current focus on curriculum planning and teaching and learning approaches.
We have four action packed weeks until the end of term. We have end of year progress tests and Year 9, 10 and 12 mock exams, transition days and evenings for the new Year 7s joining our family next year, the Year 11 and 13 proms, a Creative Arts Evening and Sports Day. In addition we have several opportunities for students to go sailing, STEM university trips and a DofE weekend away. Some students will also be on work placements and we have our drop down Music creative days too still to come this academic year. Please see our newsletter calendar section over the coming weeks for further details. Please either email dharrison@cowesec.org or phone the school on 01983 203103 asking for Donna Harrison to book a pre-booked slot at my parent surgeries. These take place every Tuesday afternoon and you are always welcome. With best wishes, Rachel Kitley Click the arrows or swipe to turn pages .

CONGRATULATIONS BTEC BUSINESS STUDENTS
This year has been one of the most successful years for BTEC Business students. The results have been confirmed by the exam board this week. 30% of students exceeded their target in business overall. In group 11B all students met or exceeded their target grade which is fantastic. All students should be proud of their hard work and achievement in business. Well done everyone!

It is important that the studs must be fitted correctly to the shoe sole and in a way that they cannot capture the turf fibres. All studs must be fully tightened and there must be no gap between the studs and the sole of the boot. All studs must be free of sharp edges, have a smooth and undamaged surface and totally free of sharp burrs. Flat soled trainers or ‘astro trainers’ should not be worn on the 3G pitch.
