Kandy, Sri Lanka Arrival transfer from airport in Colombo to hotel in Kandy, en route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (Private). Welcome to Sri Lanka - Jewel of the Indian Ocean! On arrival in Colombo, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings representative and transferred to your hotel in Kandy. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site. The name "Kandy" conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Kandy is the home to the Royal Palace and the temple of the Sacred Tooth, which houses the holy relic of the tooth of the Buddha. En route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a conservation and education centre and home to about 60 elephants which were found abandoned or orphaned in the wild.
Enjoy a city tour of Kandy (Private). This morning, enjoy sightseeing tour of Kandy. Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden - First built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was later expanded by the British. Visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Thereafter witness a cultural show.
Bentota, Sri Lanka Transfer from hotel in Kandy to hotel in Bentota via Kitulgala (Private). This morning, check-out of your hotel and transfer to Bentota via Kitulgala. Visit the Kelani River flowing through Kitulgala, the main location where the Oscar winning Movie 'Bridge on the River Kwai' was filmed.
