– Welcome to the LOOKOUT STOCK FARM BRED FEMALE DISPERSAL – On behalf of Cindy and the boys and myself, I would like to welcome you to our bred female dispersal. Our farm is located in the Peace country of northern Alberta beside the town of Fairview. Cindy and I both grew up in the area and have been involved with livestock our entire lives. Cindy’s family raised purebred Angus for many years under the name Wildwillow that was dispersed in 1982. Together, we have been in the purebred Angus business for close to 20 years raising our Angus cattle under our farm name, Lookout Stock Farm. From the outset our goal has been to produce functional cattle that excel in the traits that have made Angus the number one breed in the world today. Never in our program have we gone to the extremes in any one trait, instead we concentrated on production with balance. I remember helping my grandfather select his replacement heifers and the first thing he would do is cull out the largest ones and the smallest ones and then select his keepers from the remaining core. This may not work for everyone but for us similar selection practices have served us well.

The Pacesetter females have become the foundation of our operation and his daughters today, I feel, will be sale features. They are broody problem-free cattle that I think will be a positive addition to their new owners’ operations. You may recall Tom Boy 509R as he was the high seller at the 2007 Masterpiece Sale and admired by a lot of astute cattlemen. His daughters selling today are very complete females that offer the industry a genetic alternative. The one herdsire selling today is Dynasty 19T that we own with our partners, Crescent Creek Angus. He has been used exclusively in the two herds and his offspring have made us appreciate his true breeding potential. In my mind he has the ability to impact the breed in a very positive way. The five daughters selling today are hard working and have done a phenomenal job on their first offspring with all five calves indexing high in the herd. As you go through the remaining lots on offer you will find unique and potentially herdbuilding females and we are very confident in their ability to perform.
“Roy & His Boys” - Spencer, Carter & Tanner
After serious consideration we have decided to change our way of managing the cattle. With the boys finishing high school and heading in new life directions and our community and work commitments, we are finding there are just not enough hours in the day. Therefore, we feel that the best direction for us is to disperse our complete winter calving herd and to concentrate on a smaller summer calving herd in order to ease the work load. It has been twenty great years in the business and our goal is to be involved for many more. Regards, Roy & Cindy, Tanner, Carter & Spencer Bjorklund PS – And since the Oilers are on their way to many more Stanley Cups this may allow us to get out and watch a few more games.
