On behalf of my family, I wish to extend an invitation at attend Highwood Auction on December 10, 2011 for the complete dispersal of the Willabar Ranch herd of Aberdeen Angus Cattle. It seems there are many catch phrases that get used in these situations, I personally prefer “Opportunity Knocks”. In this case it knocks loudly and I believe it will echo for years to come. For established breeders or new breeders setting out on the purebred trail we are making available the brood cows and replacement heifers that are only available in a dispersal sale of this kind. Breeding and nurturing Aberdeen Angus has been a passion for our family for seventy years (1941 - 2011). Through good times and some not so good times these cows and their ancestors have carried us through. Twelve years of annual bull sales and decades of private treaty have distributed literally thousands of bulls to breeding pastures all over North America and Willabar genetics have circled the globe. We have converted the cows from September calving season to February/March in anticipation of this dispersal. We have brought together breeding services from some of the most proven bulls in the breed combined with some exciting young sires and backed them up with our own solid herd bulls. We bred for 50 days and the open cows were culled. Carriers of known genetic defects have been eliminated. The cows weaned their calves in April and have experienced an extraordinary grazing season with abundant rainfall in our area. Needless to say they are in very good condition. It is with mixed emotions that Ramona and I have come to this decision. However, my knees are just not up to the test that winter chores and preparing bulls for annual sales put on them anymore. Therefore, we have decided to follow a different path and we look forward with great anticipation to our own challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. To our loyal bull customers, and there are just too many to name, thank you for the honour of doing business with you. Don’t forget that we are selling our last crop of September Long Yearling Bulls on December 20th (likely right around 3:00 p.m.) right after the cows sell. They have been culled hard and they are getting a TMR. They will be semen tested and fully insurable. We are definitely putting our best foot forward with this set of outstanding bulls. Remember, we are not having a sale in February. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to call, I always like to talk “cows”. In the meantime, accept this as your invitation to be with us on December 20, 2011, at Noon for the Willabar Ranch Complete Aberdeen Angus Dispersal Sale, Highwood Auction, High River. Sincerely Andy Hart
