Opposite elements always come in pairs, complementing each other: the moon and the sun, and, dark and bright, positive and negative, peace and chaos. In the same way, a strong bond is formed between two friends who are opposites, creating a cosmic duality that runs in an infinite cycle of spiritualism, love, and empowerment.

DIMITRIS SPYRIDOPOULOS

COCO-MAT HOTELS ACCOUNTING MANAGER

ΤO KNOW US BETTER...

I have completed my studies in Economics at the AUEB and I have obtained a Master's degree from the Open University, focusing on specialized topics in the field of finance and accounting, with approximately eighteen years of experience. My career started in 2008, in smaller companies and organizations, where I developed my skills in financial analysis and accounting. My collaboration with Coco-Mat Hotels began seven years ago, in 2018, when I was given the opportunity to contribute to the development of the group and assume the position of accountant - head of the finance department.

DUTY CALLS

As head of the Finance department, I am involved in financial strategy, expenditure analysis to ensure hotel profitability and supervision to achieve financial objectives and results. My main task is the sustainability and growth of the group, as my contribution to increasing profitability is crucial, through strategic resource management and identification of improvement opportunities. If I had to describe my role in one word, I would say 'strategic'. It is a role that has been changing over the past decades and is evolving, as it is now not just about managing situations, but also about developing prevention strategies."

The most difficult part of my job is managing financial crises, while the most pleasing part is when I see the teams working effectively and achieving their goals. The feeling of success and the ability to contribute to the development of the group is in itself a source of inspiration for me. One of the most satisfying parts of the job is the recognition of our efforts by other colleagues.

THE COCO PHILOSOPHY

THE PEOPLE

My philosophy regarding financial management is based on transparency and teamwork. I usually manage situations involving budgets, investment and tax issues. The decision-making process involves analyzing data and collaborating with other departments to ensure the optimal solution.

MY DAILY ROUTINE

A typical 24-hour day includes meetings with the team, conferences and analyses. I usually start my day with a coffee and a review of economic indicators. Meetings with the team follow. Frequently, the workload is so heavy that I don't even have the time to talk to my family, which bothers me and makes me worry about what it will be like when I finally get home. This routine, though, as demanding as it may be, is quite rewarding when my work is acknowledged. When I get home, I concentrate on my family, being a husband and a father on a daily basis, with all that this entails, and draining the last of my energy reserves!

MEMORIES BRING

It is difficult to single out moments and incidents we have experienced with colleagues over the years. If I had to choose, I would opt for personal moments, when colleagues from the hotels, but also from the group, supported me, proving, in practice, the "family" spirit that characterizes us.

PERSONALLY SPEAKING

In my spare time, I find great pleasure in reading books, mainly economic or history books, as well as novels. I also enjoy attending performances, as well as sporting events. Family time is precious time for me, as being with my children fills my heart with love, joy and laughter. Every activity with them is a reminder of the beauty of life. Everyday life may be full of challenges, yet, the meaningful anzd supportive conversations with my wife help me manage daily stress and regain peace of mind. Moments like these, as well as moments with our friends, are my haven.

NIKOS XENOS

F&B MANAGER COCO-MAT HOTELS

ΤO KNOW US BETTER...

I am 36 years old and I’ve been in the food and beverage industry since 2007. My first degree was obtained at the School of Management and Economics at the University of West Attica. I have attended specialized training programs along the way, such as Restaurant Management and Marketing & Brands at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. My collaboration with Coco-Mat Hotels began in 2019; it is a group that highly values its commitment to sustainability and innovation, a group that puts people at the forefront. In 2024, having gained the trust of the Group, I assumed the position of F&B Manager at Coco-Mat hotels, a position that fills me with enthusiasm, honor and personal responsibility. This development has become a decisive factor in my line of work, as it enables me to contribute to the philosophy and vision of the hotels and to provide a guest experience that embodies the essence of authentic Greek hospitality and taste.

DUTY CALLS

As the F&B Manager of Coco-Mat Hotels, I am responsible for the overall strategic management of the food departments and the details that ensure a perfect guest experience. This position includes menu planning, raw materials quality assurance and cost control, aiming at achieving financial viability, and maintaining a high level of quality. I am also responsible for the personnel selection and training, the orderly cooperation between departments related to the food requirements of the hotels, as well as the development of sound and effective procedures, in a manner entirely consistent with the principles of Coco-Mat Hotels

If I had to describe my role in one word, I would say "Coordinator". And that’s because my work requires the collaboration of many different departments and people, so that every part of the experience is in harmony with the overall vision of COCO-MAT.

The Food and Beverage department contributes significantly to the overall guest experience in a hotel, as it directly affects impression and satisfaction. The biggest challenge in this sector is to constantly adapt to changing customer preferences and seasonal variations, while ensuring the best possible outcome. The most satisfying part of this job, however, is the ability to create experiences that combine tastes and values, which become sensory experiences and a pathway to pleasure for those with access to it. There is nothing more rewarding than a satisfied guest, who enjoys the dining experience we have planned, feels connected to our culture and leaves with a smile.

COOK @ COCO-MAT HOTEL NAFSIKA

At Coco-Mat Hotel Nafsika, I am in charge of one of the most essential hotel services, the breakfast experience. In particular, the preparation of a rich and healthy top quality breakfast, based on Greek cuisine with international references, in order to cater to diverse guest preferences. In addition, I am responsible for organizing and ordering breakfast supplies, ensuring everything is of high quality.

Working at Coco-Mat Hotel Nafsika has been an amazing experience. I am grateful for everything COCO-MAT has offered me, including the relationships I have built with my colleagues.

I think what makes the hotel stand out is, the cozy atmosphere and the overall experience it offers, making guests feel at home. Furthermore, the perfect work environment and the sincere interest our team is showing are elements that are also acknowledged by our guests.

My favorite place in the hotel is the kitchen, where I do what I love most: cook and serve delicious food to our guests, ensuring ultimate satisfaction.

As for the future of the hotel, I hope it will continue to offer unique experiences that will make our guests look back on their stay at CocoMat Nafsika, and visit us again and again.

Five members of the Coco-Mat Hotels family introduce themselves and talk about their lives in their second home. Because hospitality at Coco-Mat Hotels starts with their people first!

/ GEORGE TAOUKIS RECEPTION AGENT

COCO-MAT HOTEL NAFSIKA

I work as a reception agent at Coco-Mat Hotel Nafsika. My duties include handling arrivals and departures, informing guests of the hotel amenities, and providing all necessary assistance during their stay.

My work experience so far has been both satisfying and challenging. I meet people from different countries with different mentalities on a daily basis, which makes my job interesting and constructive. Our hotel stands out for its quiet and peaceful environment, as it is embraced by the nature of Kifissia. Also worthy of note is our luscious Greek breakfast and our special à la carte menu.

I am extremely pleased with the working environment at the hotel, as the cooperation between colleagues has been excellent. My supervisors are always supportive and willing to help with any questions. I am truly grateful to be part of this team.

My favorite place in the hotel is our lobby, an elegant space that exudes tranquility and warmth. A moment I will never forget is when a kitten, Pamela, appeared at the entrance; a strong bond was formed between us. For me, that was the moment when the hotel became synonymous with a pet-friendly environment.

I hope that the hotel will continue to grow and thrive in the future and that the atmosphere of warmth will never be lost.

Combined with the COCO-MAT philosophy, it's an experience that makes you wiser. The team consists of remarkable colleagues, thus fostering a positive work environment that facilitates our everyday life. My favorite spot is the entrance of the hotel, which marks the arrival and the departure of our guests.

I hope Coco-Mat Athens BC will continue to go above and beyond, providing exceptional hospitality services to every guest.

I am a waitress at Coco-Mat Hotel Athens. My daily duties include welcoming and serving guests, explaining the menu and, more specifically, the hotel's buffet, as well as performing multiple tasks in the dining area, making sure it’s neat and clean.

My work experience at Coco-Mat Hotel Athens is both pleasant and demanding due to the responsibilities we have been asked to assume in order to achieve our objectives and offer the best possible guest experience.

The working environment at the hotel is friendly, instilling a sense of security in the personnel. Everyone is eager to help with any problems that may arise. The friendly relations with each other are something I will never forget. It feels so good to be part of such a considerate, welcoming, pleasant, dynamic and high-spirited team.

My favorite spot in the hotel is the Roof Garden, boasting a magnificent view of the Acropolis, and the bar, where I create delightful cocktails for our hotel guests. It is a place where everyone can enjoy an amazing culinary experience, accompanied by the unique sounds of jazz music.

I hope Coco-Mat Hotel Athens will continue to stand out, thanks to its friendly atmosphere, and to evolve, achieving more and more distinctions in the hospitality industry.

My experience at Coco-Mat Athens Jumelle is particularly pleasant. My first position at COCO-MAT was in the reservations department. FIRST GENDERLESS FRAGRANCES BY

Matthieu Blazy's outstanding work as Creative Director led to the expansion of the brand into the world of beauty. The Italian fashion house launches the first genderless collection of luxury fragrances. The fragrance notes reflect the diverse cultural characteristics associated with the brand, while the bottles are inspired by the traditional Venetian glassblowing.

J'ADORE DIOR WITH RIHANNA

The iconic J' adore Dior fragrance enters a new era. Cherlize Theron fronted the fragrance for many years, but this year, the house has decided to make a big change. Rihanna, the ultimate music and fashion icon, embraced the "gilded" glamour of the fragrance, bridging the house's unique elegance with mysterious sexiness. The campaign was shot in Versailles, embodying the noble character of the fragrance, the classical style of the 18th century and the contemporary beauty of Rihanna.

The Peaky Blinders movie is a fact! Creator Steven Knight is preparing a film that will serve as the ending to the successful series, and will be directed by Tom Harper. Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby, while the talented Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson join him in the cast. We believe it will be an epic production!

Chopard has named Bella Hadid as its new brand ambassador. The model looked as elegant as ever, in wonderful old money aesthetic pieces and luxurious and impressive jewelry of the brand, reminiscent of a modern Audrey Hepburn. Bella epitomizes the spirit of Chopard, a harmonious combination of effortless elegance and zest for life.

A much-discussed collaboration! After the release of her album Cowboy Carter, which includes a song called Levii's Jeans, Beyoncé announced her collaboration with the famous denim brand! Their joint campaigns reinterpret several of Levi's most iconic ads. Their purpose is to celebrate women’s empowerment and perspective!

The architectural design was assigned to Elli Giraud, who was invited to construct both the workshop and the exhibition space.

The goal was to create a flexible space that will act as the exterior of the workshop, where one can get to know the jewelry and its creators up close. The space was freed of unnecessary elements to create a minimal atmosphere that forms the basis of a continuous creative collage. The project combines a dynamic whole that brings architecture, design, jewelry and art into conversation, promoting creation.

It has been carefully assembled to conform with the aesthetics and needs of the brand. The team is always looking into collaborations with artists that admire and believe that their art goes hand in hand. Therefore, this space can mutate and host creative actions supported by artists and pop-up events that will dynamically transform the space and communicate the brand's vision.

Timothée Chalamet stars as Bob Dylan in the film A Complete Unknown, which will be released this Christmas. The first trailer indicates that he will actually be singing songs of the legendary artist, and his voice is already praised by critics. The film is directed, written and produced by James Mangold.

Eva Mendes returns to the spotlight with Stella McCartney! POSITIVE ENERGY

Energy appears to be the force that defines the desires, drive and successes of Danae Pappa. The energy of her associates and her loved ones, the energy she shares with audiences, the energy of new places she loves to explore... And it is a very positive energy!

PHOTOGRAPHER:

After three years on the TV series “Sasmos” [Conciliation], this season you star in the new historical drama series “Agios Erotas” [Sacred Love]. Was it difficult to transition from Theodora to Chloe?

Theodora was a quite “spicy” and intense character, a present-day, modern woman. Chloe, on the other hand, is younger and lives in an entirely different era, the 1950s. So, I would say that it wasn’t difficult in a practical sense, but this transition was a cognitive challenge for me. When I put on the school uniform, that’s when I felt that I discovered Chloe! And overall, talking to the costume designers, makeup and hair artists is very helpful to how I approach a role.

Beyond the love story, the series highlights stereotypes and biases of the era. Are there issues that you feel are still relevant today?

To some extent, they are all still relevant. There are still families where the father is very strict, or the wife is repressed. There are still powerful men in small communities that lie and do things in the shadows that no one imagines. We see such cases today

In the 1950s, “entertainment” revolved to a large extent around gossip – and especially so in closed, rural societies. Now, the phenomenon of “looking through the keyhole” has taken on global dimensions. Do you think things are more challenging now, or then?

This phenomenon weakens, as it expands geographically. I think that in past eras, in a closed society, it was much more burdensome for the soul of a person who found themselves the focus of gossip. Now that we can learn with incredible ease the actions of a Hollywood star across the globe, gossip no longer affects us so strongly.

“Agios Erotas” has already won over TV audiences. Which elements do you think make the series so successful, and how do you define success?

If we knew the recipe for success, we would all use it. The truth is nobody knows what will captivate the audience. Personally, I think that I was fortunate, because I made the right choices. Both “Sasmos” and “Agios Erotas” were two projects that I really felt I wanted to do. What I can say with certainty is that good collaboration is a decisive factor of success. Every day, we spend ten hours on set. If the mood is good and there is understanding, then the result is also good. I believe that the positive energy that we share during filming is conveyed to the audience and ultimately makes a project successful.

↑Long viscose pyjamas with lace, TEZENIS UNDERWEAR

You have said that being an actor is synonymous with being exposed. But how easy is it to handle it, when it is not your professional but your personal life that is front and center?

As an actor, you must do your job, when filming or rehearsing, and that is something that you are taught in drama school, it can be learned. But there is no manual for how to handle publicity. No one teaches you how to react, what may affect you, how to withstand what’s going on It has to do with your character, and it requires a lot of introspection, calmness and self-possession. If you act impulsively or make decisions in a rush, then one mistake may lead to a hundred others

Audiences become attached to characters, don’t they?

Yes, that’s true. People on the street often call me Theodora or Chloe, and I respond. Besides, after so many hours of filming, I get used to my character’s name (laughs). As an actor, you enter people’s homes every day, so it makes sense that they feel an intimacy towards you. But there need to be some boundaries. It is one thing for someone to come up and speak to you politely, with good energy, and quite another when they approach you aggressively, try to touch you or kiss you.

On the stage, for a second season you are part of the cast of the comedic play “Gia Mia Zoi” [For a Life/Zoe]. The playwrights, Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas, have posed a great dilemma for Zoe – the character that you portray. How does Danae react to dilemmas?

I will struggle to follow logic and will easily follow my instincts. Even though I know early on what my choice will be, I weigh and filter my decision and ultimately land on what my instinct dictates.

Which is the most useful piece of advice that you have received, and from whom?

Years ago, I had gotten into a fight with a classmate in school, and I was discussing it with my grandmother. I said something very childish, along the lines of “This girl doesn’t like me”. And she responded: “You can’t be liked by everyone. You’re not French fries!” That phrase stayed with me and I find myself using it more and more over the years. It’s true, we can’t be likeable to everyone – and if we were, we would probably be doing something wrong.

You have often expressed your love for New York, and you have also travelled to other amazing destinations, such as Cuba and parts of Africa. What intrigues you about travel, and what do you always do when you visit a new place?

Travelling is my great love! Discovering new places and cultures, seeing the sights, tasting local flavors and experiencing entertainment in other countries is the greatest gift to myself. Before I travel to a new destination, I always look for small establishments where I can sit, have a glass of wine, and watch the people going by, because I believe that in this “parade” you can truly come to know the culture and energy of a place.

Another great love of yours is dance. Do you feel that it has helped you in your acting career? Do these two art forms interact?

There is certainly a connection, because our body is a great instrument, both on stage and on television. Having studied dance helps me to imagine how the character I am portraying stands and moves. Body posture in different circumstances can convey a lot about someone’s personality.

And which is your favorite style of dance?

Contemporary. Mopping the floors with my body! (laughs) It is something that I miss terribly. Whereas dance was for many years my “steady relationship”, it has now become a “flirtation”, and I am in a “relationship” with acting. When I danced, I always enjoyed the contact, when two dancers came together on stage and danced as one body, simply improvising and feeling each other’s energy. That communication without words fascinated me, and I still find it incredibly appealing.

If you could paint the ideal image of yourself ten years from now, what would it look like? Do you make plans for the future?

Whenever I’ve made plans, reality has contradicted me. So I have decided to take it step by step, day by day. Ideally, though, ten years from now I would like to have calmness in my life and good people around me. To have a social circle that empowers me to constantly evolve and grow. Professionally, I have no idea. If we were having this conversation ten years ago, it would have nothing to do with what I’m doing now. So we’ll see!

A FASCINATING WINTER!

Boho, quiet luxury

Boho, quiet luxury or country? Designers have provided us with many exciting options this winter, with the aim of creating a stylish and dynamic women's wardrobe. Now, what are the key trends?

by Anna Sui

Photo

TRIP TO THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

Cozy sweaters, earth tones, checkered and argyle print, leather biker boots and supersize overcoats bring to mind heroes of British literature and film. The London countryside influences and defines our winter street style, through a combination of comfort and style!

TO THE POINT

SUIT

→ Philosophy

The sophisticated outfit based on office wear reminds us that the quiet luxury trend is here to stay. However, it is a style that can make you fall into the trap of a "boring" look. So, experiment with bold corporate outfits, mix and match, feminine lines, statement accessories and intense make-up.

Pointed-toe shoes were the most popular on the FW24-25 runways. The aim of designers was to present them as elegantly as possible in order to highlight dominant vintage inspired silhouettes. Whether pointed-toe flats or heels, they can dress up any look in a wonderful way, as they can be paired equally successfully with jeans or a cocktail dress - and beyond.

BOHO CHIC DOMINATES

Chemena Kamali's debut Chloé collection was revolutionary, making bohemian chic the biggest trend this year, with pieces already considered to be timeless. She managed to bring back boho fashion in a more fresh, stylish and imaginative way. Every look represents a free, romantic and dynamic woman!

HOTTEST COLORS

Which are this season’s dominant colors? Burgundy is the most viral; khaki has made a strong comeback, and brown and grey come second. These colors are incredibly dynamic and elegant and can therefore make every fabric and style stand out. We saw these colors on coats, skirts, trousers, blazers, bags – and more – emphasizing the so-called tonal dressing of the season.

LEATHER ADDICTION

BELTS ARE TRENDING

It may not be an original or new trend, but leather is considered one of the most timeless and premium options in the fashion industry. This year, we came across its "liquid" version, imparting that glossy finish that evokes a sense of luxury to your look. The dominant colors for leather are blue, green, burgundy and brown.

DENIM

Belts were often overlooked accessories; well, this has changed and they are trending this season as the detail that can make a big difference to every look. They are the perfect addition to our casual and formal outfits. Top houses have experimented with this accessory and have pointed it out as the finishing touch that will effortlessly elevate your look.

ON DENIM IS STILL A THING

Denim is probably the most loved fabric and it makes a bold impact this season. It's a wardrobe essential and it's exciting to see denim on denim looks taking hold the runways. Designers invite us to adopt the more is more philosophy for our jean items and pair them in the most creative way. Blue black is this year’s denim color!

Born into one of the most legendary families in London, the daughter of Paul and Linda McCartney writes her own story, combining her two great loves: fashion and the environment.

Stella McCartney began her career studying fashion design at Central Saint Martins. In 1995, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Yasmin Le Bon walked her graduation show wearing her creations, with Stella May Day – a song especially written by her father, as the background music.

In 1997, Chloé wanted to replace its then Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld, by bringing Stella McCartney to Paris. From the very beginning, she made her terms of cooperation clear: no leather, no fur. Lagerfeld did not hesitate to make a sharp comment saying that "Chloé should have taken a big name. They did, but in music, not fashion". However, the designer would quickly prove to be more than just Paul's daughter, eventually changing strict Lagerfeld’s mind.

In 2001, McCartney left Chloé to launch her eponymous brand, embarking on her journey towards a fully sustainable and ethical approach to fashion.

THE FRENCH

THE FRENCH MAKE UP

The unpretentious make-up looks of French women are a source of inspiration for beauty experts and define the biggest trends of the season. According to French women, the most elegant makeup, perfect for every occasion, is the no mascara look. A lightweight, glowy foundation on the face, soft blush and a strong lipstick, preferably in dark shades of red, create the ultimate Parisian chic look.

Much like make-up, this season’s manicure is dominated by shades that exude Parisian chic. Some of the timeless options for French women include dark brown, olive green and burgundy, while short nails elegantly complete every look.

FRENCH TWIST

The French twist combines the elegance of the sleek bun with the practicality of the loose bun, adding a touch of French-girl finesse to every look. All you need to achieve French women's favorite hairstyle is a French pin and a mood for experimentation!

Our body naturally produces collagen, but, over time, collagen production decreases, making the skin look dull and less elastic. Peptides are among the most effective ingredients for skin repair. By penetrating the outer layer of the skin, peptides stimulate collagen and elastin production, strengthen the skin barrier, "lock in" moisture, reduce wrinkles and improve skin elasticity, thus healing the skin from the inside out.

Gua sha, a traditional Chinese medicine practice, has become popular in the modern skincare routine. It is used to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation through lymphatic drainage. Gentle gua sha massage can reduce wrinkles and fine lines while helping to release tight facial muscles. In addition, it helps increase the absorption of skincare products, making them even more effective!

Green tea is known for its antioxidant properties and benefits for the body. Did you know, though, that these properties are also beneficial for hair health? Green tea can prevent hair loss, promote hair growth, soothe the scalp, reduce dandruff, prevent hair thinning and restore shine to damaged hair. If you want to incorporate it into your routine, you can rinse your hair with cool green tea after shampooing or apply green tea extracts or oils directly to the scalp.

VERITABLE

Christine and Alain Parodi created an authentic French bistro in Neo Psychiko, wishing to share their knowledge with the Greek public, as well as the savoir-faire of French gastronomy, and their mutual passion for flagship, culinary products which have been recognized as part of their cultural heritage, such as French cheese, butter, charcuterie and foie gras by small-scale producers in their country.

They named it "VERiTABLE" to declare their loyalty to the "veritable cuisine of the heart". Their bistro is in perfect harmony with the spirit of modern French bistronomie - not only in terms of food, but also of wine, as their cherished "treasure hunt" extends to their cellar.

Their intimate, tasteful and inviting space evokes a sense of relaxation, like all French bistros, and the food is deeply delicious. Chef Alain Parodi and his brigade cook with knowledge, outstanding professionalism and true passion. On their bistro blackboard you will come across classic French dishes, with a more authentic twist. All it’s going to take is the desire to try it out and advance booking.
