season 2012-2013

Dear CPA Families & Guests, Welcome to an engaging year of arts performances: singers, musicians, actors, dancers and visual artists growing in their gifts and bringing the audience creations filled with entertainment, insight, and relevance! This season’s high-school main-stage performances, the acclaimed comedy, The Curious Savage, and the American classic, Bye Bye Birdie, are all of that and more. These offerings combined with the student-run Coffeehouse Theatre—The Hipster Edition, the comedy of ActFest, the visual art and micro-cinema of VA Café, and the musical and dance energy of Spring Jubilation! make six wonderful nights of CPA High School fine arts performances just waiting for you to take your seat. Add the first semester’s middleschool musical Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Junior and the second semester’s Middle School Fine Arts Showcase, and that makes eight great events to add to your calendar. As always, with a CPA Fine Arts Season Pass you can enjoy all of these shows at a discount and sit in the reserved seat of your choice. With these benefits, why not buy extra tickets and bring some friends? This year we are pleased to offer a special Student Season Ticket, which includes pricing of $5 per performance, guaranteed admittance to limited-seating events, and a reserved seat at every single show. It will be a “We cannot understand wonderful year of performances. Your seats are waiting!

They have other ideas, but so does Mrs. Savage. When Titus, Samuel, and Lilly Belle commit her to a sanitarium, with the expectation of shocking her to her senses, she makes the acquaintance of Florence, Jeff, Fairy Mae, and Hannibal. These characters, a variety of what some might term social misfits, begin to appear more sane that those outside the walls of the institution. With the help of her newfound friends, Mrs. Savage leads her stepchildren on a merry chase. The result is an enduring piece of theatre that speaks through the laughter to what it can mean to be a family or a friend, and offers a new lens with which to see each others.
