n a world of fast changes, the design of living space primarily reflects individual needs and desires. The Interprint Design Team gives valuable orientation in the multiplicity of possibilities. With its ‘Six Pack’ 2017, the international décor printer presents six focused décor statements with great potential for international market success. The new ‘Six Pack’ was presented early for the first time during the Interprint Furniture Days in Arnsberg at the beginning of November: The décors proved their strong character not only as décor material versions (melamine surface, Xelio finish foil, edge banding, thermoplastic foil and EIR surface) but also directly on furniture.

Intra – Independent. Angular. Experimental. The faults, cracks and leaching of this black stained oak show signs of natural wear and tear. In contrast to darker wood, the original bright colour has been revealed here and there. This makes it easier to combine the décor with other materials and uni colours.

The Interprint décor recommendations are selfconfident interpretations of current trends and styles. The main oak topic is presented in three very different interpretations: from experimental and natural to handicraft country-style. One marble design, one chestnut design and one walnut design embody authentic lifestyles. The attraction of all six décors lies in their strong materiality and naturalness. The six are: Intra, Kronberg, Ladin, Lavant, Nairo and Paldao. The look & feel of the new Interprint décor trends primarily harmonise with three of the currently popular design styles: ‘Nature’ as an expression of relaxed naturalness, ‘Industrial’ for all purists who like imperfection and functionality, and ‘Material’ as a haptic, uncompromising counter concept to the digital lifestyle. With their authentic naturalness, the ‘Six Pack’ décors are just as trendy as timeless.

Kronberg – This planked oak originated from old railway sleepers. The timber, strongly parched by the sun for years, displays authentic discolourations, seasonal marks and cracks. Completely natural.

For more information call +49 (0) 2932 950 353 or visit www.interprint.com

Ladin – Striking oak in a rustic mountain chalet look. Sandblasting and brushing techniques have transformed the original wood and given it a rough appeal. In this way, an effect has been achieved that nature would have needed decades to create.

2 design & décors | JANUARY 2017

Lavant – Horizontal becomes diagonal. The texture of this marble creates completely new 45° aesthetics. This makes it convincing for both work surfaces and fascias. Alternating quartzite sections create an intensive white-grey interplay of colours. The overall unconventional impression is rounded off by a trendy matt finish.

Nairo – A very original chestnut with a rough texture. The wood has greyed partially due to weathering. The décor displays a broad range of natural colour nuances. It also owes its vivid look to the counter-flowing flowers and branches.

Paldao – This décor is named after a tropical timber that is often used instead of walnut. Inspired by the strong character of the original material, a surprising reinterpretation has been achieved. Cut flowers and light-dark nuances add depth. Now a stylish walnut classic with an unmistakable look.

hen it comes to surfaces there are few companies that offer quite the breadth of product that Essex-based David Clouting Ltd provides. And few are quite so determined to bring the very latest in décor technology to their customer bases. Over the last 20 years, David Clouting’s association with LG Hausys has given exclusive access to groundbreaking developments, among the most recent of which are cutting edge products like the authentic painted wood look of B9 and the latest Hard Coat PET products that promise no finger marking. Always keen to help you stay ahead, David Clouting’s stock range is continually broadening - not only with the very latest colours, woodgrains and textures (as shown prominently in the Elements section of W16) but also with the latest in a very special range of edgebands from Italian manufacturer Giplast and a contract collection of self-adhesive, IMOrated Interior Films for shopfitting, interiors and furniture applications. If it’s gloss and matt in a range of on-trend colours you need, take a closer look at the Hard Coat PET collection for flat lamination. It promises a similar look to much more costly acrylic panels and you’ll find scratch and marr resistance much better than the traditional lacquered products it emulates. The collection is colour matched to press grade foils and is available in single roll quantities, or to special order from 3,000 linear metres. The B9 painted wood look collection is being stocked in eight colours that reflect the latest trends and many have already found their way into fitted furniture for the coming season. Ideal for both membrane pressing and flat lamination, B9 can be supplied ex-stock in rolls of 200m, or in whatever length you require. The latest additions to be introduced at Elements included new Springfield Oaks in David Clouting’s membrane pressable PVC Decofoil collection that match perfectly with Pfleiderer. All the décors in the David Clouting range are matched with those of major décor and edging producers so you can be certain of a fully co-ordinated look. gger UK is offering customers a sneak online-only preview of its new 2017 decorative collection – featuring its biggest-ever portfolio of décors for the KBB sector. Specifically compiled for the UK and Ireland furniture manufacturing industry, the Egger Decorative Collection features 170 décors, 114 of them with matching laminates available from stock. There are 44 new designs and two new textures. The new collection aims to raise the bar in wood-based panels, MDF and laminates with amazing new woodgrains and uni combination colours. It will also introduce a range of services including a new App and room visualisation software. Although Egger is keeping full details of the new collection under wraps until after it is launched in January, it is providing a sneak preview at http://campaign.egger.com/ kbb_new_visitors/ Elliott Fairlie, head of décor development, is adamant: “The Egger 2017 Decorative Collection is the most comprehensive we have ever launched on the market and has a new approach based around customer needs,” he says. “This is our answer to fast trends, the increasing complexity of product ranges and the shortening shelf-life of products. It replaces what was previously known as the company’s Zoom collection. “Although we are continuing to expand our range of innovative reproductions such as concrete and metal, the emphasis continues to be on woodgrains – with oak still the unchallenged number one trend.” One décor direction Elliott predicts as being particularly strong over the next few years is ‘handcrafted’ style oaks that continue Egger’s quest to produce woodgrain reproductions that are warm, tactile and visually indistinguishable from the real thing. Accent edging is also attracting interest, with striking new visual effects helping to create that certain attention to detail look, currently so popular in the market. Featured in the preview is Davos Oak, a new décor that gives a white oiled-oak surface effect whilst maintaining the natural features of oak. The knots, light highlights, dark colour interplay and white pore all contribute to achieving natural colour accents that allow for

combinations with neutral solid colours from white to grey. The second Davos Oak colour is Truffle Brown - more of a warm brown tone but with a multitude of colour variations. Dark, almost black elements can be found, as well as light pore variants. Graphite Denver Oak corresponds to the classic style of a natural oak with smaller knots and a lightly planked effect. This oak displays a lot of colour interplay and is perfectly suited for combinations with a variety of uni colours. Visit http://campaign.egger.com/kbb_new_ visitors/ to preview the new collection

This year, solid colours and textured surfaces are prominent with 19 new effects on offer extending beyond the quiet reserves of neutral tones, as the market is again looking for warmth, vibrancy and atmosphere. To meet continuing demand for high gloss surfaces, Renolit has introduced three vibrant new colours - Evora, Peperoncino Rosso and Plankton - along with new metal tones

Renolit is meeting demand for matt surfaces with a dynamic range of eight trend colours from two alternative surfaces finishes Suedette Matt and Supermatt - while the latest structured surfaces include Graphite Modern Ash, a structured woodgrain paint effect, and the linear Lino Wolfgang Grey. The popularity of oak continues. Renolit has launched four new oak décors - Urban Oak, Gladstone Oak, Riverside and Vintage Oak representing eight new product introductions in different colour ways. This year also sees the inclusion of Beech, Elm and Walnut décors. The Renolit Highlights Collection showcases new design introductions from the last 24 months that have been added into the global 3D stock collection. ornschuch is well known for its impressive skai® collection of décors. skai® furniture films are unique, combining impressive designs and embossings. Currently, stone and concrete looks are particularly popular and you’ll find several, as well as Quartz, Sandstone and Gravel, in the skai® Sahara collection. Such designs beautify kitchen and bathroom furniture fronts but are also at home in hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, or offices.

skai® Perfect Touch graphite & denim (Photo: Masterclass Kitchens)

skai® Sahara naturally fits into various room designs and harmonises well with other materials. At the furniture trade fair in Milan, mixtures of materials such as rustic wood, gold-metal, and marble were presented for the first time. The subtly grained, somewhat dull looking surface of skai® Sahara with its interesting feel has real character. Natural-looking woods such as oak, elm, or coniferous wood are well suited as partners in the material mixture. With its noble and elegant painted surface, whose purity and clarity set standards, skai® Perfect Touch is the gold standard in the area of matt plains. It has a very pleasant feel: not dull but warm, it presents a direct tactile experience. The surface invites you to touch it. Soft and delicate, skai® Perfect Touch reinforces the visual impression of great value. The film is perfectly suited for use in combination with wood or stone décors. skai® furniture films are available exclusively in the UK and Ireland from Marlborough Furniture Surfaces. rupo Alvic is Spain’s largest producer of decorative boards, panel components, and doors and is a specialist and pioneer in UV lacquering technology. Its flagship product, Luxe, is a high gloss MDF based material which has impressive scratch resistance and surface quality. Alvic’s strong commitment towards innovation and technological development led them to introduce Zenit a new supermatt surface, soft and silky to the touch, very resistant and with an extremely low matt surface finish.

The MFC Syncron range has recently been expanded to include some exciting new and original textures as well as embossed-in-register (EIR ) wood grains. One of the secrets behind the success of Grupo Alvic is the total control of the manufacturing process, from the impregnation and specification of the raw papers to the pressing of the boards which allows the added result of always offering a matching reverse which is so often requested when selling added value products.

Syncron Evora

Panelco/Meyer Timber are the exclusive distributors of Alvic decorative boards and following the very positive response to the new décors exhibited at the KBB they have added a further 21 new finishes to their stock range making a grand total of 46 different variations of board surfaces all with matching edge banding. A nationwide, next day delivery service is offered on all orders received by 5pm. Barry Berman, who is the UK agent for Grupo Alvic is naturally excited by the new décors taken on by Panelco/Meyer especially as their showroom is now displaying all the range in large size format, “Working with Alvic is a pleasure as they are constantly improving and innovating their products and Panelco/Meyer are backing us with extensive stocks to make sure that the Luxe-Zenit-Syncron boards are available on demand.”

igh gloss surfaces continue to dominate the kitchen, furniture and shopfitting markets and at the very forefront of high gloss production is the Austrian company, Senoplast. The success of Senosan AM1800TopX has resulted in a decision by Senoplast to invest in a further production line, which will help reduce delivery times and provide increased flexibility to customers. Senoplast now has three clean room furniture lines with hard coating facility and two standard furniture lines. Senosan sheets and films differ from other materials on the market, having unique surface features. But with so many high gloss surfaces on the market, why has Senosan become one of the most revered? Acrylic gives an extremely flat high gloss surface without orange peel effect and is comparable with glass in the flawlessness of its finish – but it comes without the disadvantages of glass. Senosan GmbH has taken its long established furniture films and added an inline surface coating called TopX in a cleanroom production facility in order to produce an outstanding product - and that’s given Senosan AM1800TopX acrylic surfaces some quite unique properties: the scratch resistance is infinitely superior to other high gloss surfaces; the chemical and stain resistance is so improved it can even be used in laboratory applications; and the UV resistance has been greatly improved for colour stability, which is becoming more important with specifiers for modern day applications

Kitchen doors made from Senosan AM1700XU and Senosan AM1800TopX. Now available in 19 stock colours

The super matt surface product range, introduced in 2014 with the installation of a second lacquer line, also comes with enhanced surface properties. The finish shows an improved scratch resistance and a silky touch with fingerprint-proof surface. This offers designers a choice of mixing gloss levels and colours. Senosan AM1800TopMatt is available in seven stock colours. Imitating premium glass in appearance, Senosan has also added five new colours of high gloss Acryl Glass in 2.0mm thickness to its stock programme. These new products will complement the company’s established range of 19 colours, which are available from stock in Senosan AM1700XU and Senosan AM1800TopX. T

he Decorative Panels Group has always been an innovator when it comes to the latest materials and technologies and 2017 will see this tradition continue with the launch of the new dp-limitless range by Decorative Panels Lamination.

Ocean Drive

A brand new laminating line that makes best use of a high bond strength PUR glue line has been installed to ensure a superb overall finish on sheet sizes up to 3660 x 1430mm. Also available will be 2440mm x 1220mm and 3050mm x 1220mm sheet sizes and orders can be placed for quantities from one sheet upwards. The range of surface finishes currently available from Decorative Panels Lamination under the banners of dp-decor and dpspecialist is already one of the largest and most diverse in the UK. Comprising over 100 woodgrain and solid colour designs within dp-decor and exceeding 200 surfaces designs within dp-specialist including high gloss and matt acrylics, PVCs and PPs, it could be argued that Decorative Panels already have all the bases covered – so why launch dp-limitless? Group Managing Director Guy Metcalfe explains: “dp-limitless is a logical extension of our offer and one that we have been researching for some time now. Decorative Panels Lamination has always been known as a business that offers a wide range of products on very quick lead times to a very wide market place. We have been innovators in terms of substrate as well as surface materials, being the first people in the UK to offer a sheet lightweight hollowcore

board solution and surface finishes such as BioCote Quartz, the first commercially available anti-microbial sheet material. We wanted to continue this innovative approach and address an area of the market that we had never been near before – that is the manufacture and supply of a range of specialised decorative and high performance products available without commitment to bulk quantities and deliverable from single sheets up to full load quantities – from stock. It is our intention to offer exactly what the brand says: a limitless offer of surface finishes bonded to the substrate of choice, available in quantities as low as one sheet. We will of course have some products that

ast Autumn saw Germany host the world’s largest kitchen show for retail and industry professionals - the “Küchenmeile”. Five trends dominated and Ostermann UK is able to supply edgings to meet all five. The optical zero bond line is becoming ever more popular. Ostermann has the perfect solution for every customer seeking to achieve this. Conventional edge banding machine operators can look to a wide range of coloured PU adhesives for a practically seamless joint, while users of laser technology, hot-air technology or near infrared (NIR) technology systems have access to Ostermann’s Laser, Airtec and Infratec edgings for a zero glueline finish. The combination of supermatt surfaces with contrasting solid wood elements was also frequently seen at the Küchenmeile. With around 90 different supermatt edgings and over 140 solid wood edgings, Ostermann’s customers can be sure to find everything they need to mirror this kitchen trend. Cool concrete finishes are now a familiar sight in modern kitchen design and Ostermann’s offer includes numerous ABS edgings in concrete and stone-look finish. Modern country house style kitchens with straight-lined framed fronts and matt surfaces were an increasingly common feature at the show. The worktops here were either made from solid wood or natural stone. For an alternative method that employs laminate worktops, Ostermann has a wide range of ABS edgings with pebble or wood décors in widths of up to 100 mm. Specially created for the “young living” segment, loud colours like sunshine yellow and steel blue were commonplace. Here too, Ostermann has plenty of choice to offer - and you can buy all Ostermann edgings in small quantities from one metre upwards. For more information call 01905 793550 or visit www.ostermann.eu

ith the new spatula-concrete surface from Döllken, the Gladbeck-based edgebanding specialist is bringing the urban charm of the industrial loft to the edgeband - and the possibilities for contemporary furniture design are limitless. Döllken has always been a pioneer in the sphere of edgeband innovations and with this new spatula-concrete-look embossed edgeband, you can combine it with popular unicolours and make the most of the “imperfect” trend. The W-256 embossing is available both for PP and for ABS and matches all spatula-concrete board surfaces available on the market. Also introducing surprising new possibilities for contemporary furniture design, Döllken’s recently introduced 3D-2in1-Duo Gloss edge makes it simple to produce a solid board that looks like it has a glass top. Demonstrating its prowess in the development of new ideas, the 3D-2in1-Duo Gloss edge can be supplied as endgrain and horizontal timber in “Convertible Design”: the edgeband consists of two colours (or décors) that run next to each other. On one side it’s a glossy solid colour; on the other, it’s a matt cap or horizontal timber that looks like a genuine wood board created with longitudinal and transverse edgebands. No real glass is used, so the finished product remains light, and 3D-2in1 makes it easy to pick up on the current trend for endgrain caps. The Döllken 3D-2in1 edges in Convertible Design are available in Duo-Gloss as well as Premium-Gloss options and all the options can be ordered as FusionEdge for laser application.

The W-256 embossing is available both for PP and for ABS and matches all spatulaconcrete board surfaces available on the market.

Another innovative addition to Döllken’s edgeband portfolio is the recently launched 3D-Space-Wave range. The wave patterning integrated in the surface creates a remarkable impression of depth with the patterning embedded in a high gloss surface finish. The easy-to-clean surface reinforces the impression of space and with smooth front and back surfaces, application and milling are easy. 3D-Space-Wave edgebands can be supplied from stock in stainless steel, titanium, old bronze and aluminium in the dimensions 23 x 1.3 mm (ideal for fronts) and 43 x 1.5 mm (ideal for worktops). Customised versions and other colours are available on request. For more information contact Döllken at Surteco UK on 01282 686850.
