H1145 ST10 Natural Bardolino Oak

The lighter H1146 ST10 Natural Bardolino Oak (shown above and left) and darker H1158 ST10 Truffle Brown Bardolino Oak (below) still keep the worn, authentic look of the original Bardolino Oak décor, with the saw-cut design that showcases the highly-realistic effects Egger is capable of in its wood reproductions. U702 ST9 Cashmere is just one of the wide range of neutral solid colours that combine perfectly with the Bardolino range of woodgrain décors and provides a refreshing alternative to the ever-present cream. The new versatile shade can also create a sophisticated and contemporary feel on its own or with other neutral solids.

uthenic-looking untreated wood is the current hot demand in finishes, complete with knots, pronounced planking and saw cuts. Egger is meeting the trend for rough-cut décors by following the successful Bardolino Oak decor with lighter and darker versions, H1145 ST10 Natural Bardolino Oak and H1158 ST10 Truffle Brown Bardolino Oak. Also making use of the complementary ST10 surface texture is the perhaps surprising H1725 ST10 Sand Provencial Elm design, a décor that shows that even a simple plain woodgrain like elm is up to the demands for untreated wood surfaces. To work on its own or in harmony with natural woodgrains, the new neutral solid colour U702 ST9 Cashmere has been introduced as part of the KBB sector’s move from creams. Natural and muted tones, combined with natural woodgrains, are increasingly being used in furniture design and now often form the starting point for decisions. For more information and samples, call the Egger Zoom ® Hotline on 0845 606 8888 (local rate) or www.egger.co.uk

The new H1725 Sand Provencial Elm ably meets the current demand for authentic woodgrains even though elm is known as more of a simple, plain and elegant wood. Its natural features and the depth of the décor pattern realistically reflect an untreated wood surface.

The variation in the grain of Sand Provencial Elm allows subtle contrasts with neutral colours like U702 ST9 Cashmere or white, creating a highly elegant yet natural finish with its pearlescent elements.

The AQUA-STOP-PEN Swelling joints banished by Döllken’s optimal sealing pen. The influence of moisture can be hazardous to most wood-based sheet materials or furniture units, causing swelling and unrepairable damage.

THE PROBLEMS

Quick Shot: the edge configurator The Quick Shot programme puts you, the customer in charge, resulting in a personalised product, according to your wishes. When ordering ABS Edgebands you have the option to choose: • Any colour or finish • Any effect • Any dimensions. Döllken promise an unbeatable production time of only 5 days, produced individually for you. The only requirement? Lengths must be from 450 metres. Contact Döllken now for your own particular choice of ABS edgebands.

Imperfections during the edging of panels include: • A fine hairline crack in the surface layer • So-called “mice-teeth’ in the adhesive joint • A less than optimum setting for the mechanical finishing. Even the most minor damage, not visible to the naked eye, can be enough to allow the penetration of liquid.

The Döllken AQUA-STOP-PEN. This simple pen from Döllken can provide long-term durability for the furniture. • Sealed in a plastic case to protect against drying out, the AQUA-STOP-PEN has a specialist felt tip. Moisten the joint that needs treating and, after one minute, the joint is permanently sealed. • The contents are economical and will last for many hundreds of metres of sealing. • The AQUA-STOP-PEN can be easily used around the home, in the kitchen and bathroom and is suitable for finished furniture units, furniture or built-in units.

NO LIMITS • As well as excellent water-repelling properties for both liquid spillages and steam, the AQUA-STOP-PEN also protects against dirt and oil. • Most surfaces, from wood and plastic to metal and stone, are treatable too. • Using a form of nanotechnology, the special liquid will guarantee excellent results.

During interzum, the innovative décor printer Interprint presented new décors and product innovations at Design Post Köln. Under the motto “Living in Contrasts”, the exhibition saw a lively exchange of ideas with a multitude of international visitors over four days. The specialist audience voiced their clear favourites. “The Six Pack” received the biggest response. Six décors ranging from stylish to rocky to adorable. Each individual décor was accompanied by the story of its own development, which was recounted in a clear, entertaining manner. The favourite décors of our international guests at Design Post Köln deserve another moment‘s attention for anyone who missed Design Post this May.

SANTHIA. THE VERSATILE. “I also want it.” Undoubtedly a wood décor that appeals to many people. It reflects many design styles and a new line of thought. “Learn to unlearn” inspires a re-thinking beyond the classic oak. The viewer gets various impressions. Santhia unites its Asian origin with typical features and strong-character properties of various wood types. The result is a slightly structured and elegant pore picture with soft swirls for a harmonious overall look.

REDGATE. THE UP-MARKET. “Unobtrusive but also with a strong character.” Redgate is absolutely ‘timeless’ and fascinating. A particularly presentable décor. The grain of the East-Asian hari-ga-ri comes to the fore in combination with harmonious or accentuating single-colours. Although similar to the European ash, it has a more discreet structure in comparison: with a subdued colouring, soft planking, an open and structured pore, cut flowers and remarkable stripe elements. Redgate ranks among the top in terms of design quality.

KATTHULT. THE NEW SWEDE. “Is that here Bullerbü?” It looks like it. A characteristic ‘Scandinavian Design’ that looks very unobtrusive and yet idyllic. The Nordic conifer wood décor reminds you of a better world. Originally very soft and thus ideal for structuring and processing, the designers have perfectly emphasised the typical Swedish look. Nice stripe elements, half-cut flowers, a slightly wavy, flowing structure and a great 3D effect. A furniture décor that is fully in line with the current trend towards Scandinavian design.

BATTLE ROCK. THE SEDUCTIVE. “Unbelievably natural, striking and attractive.” A décor that you want to touch immediately. The three-dimensional haptics really look authentic. Battle Rock has a face showing intensive experience of life that “left its traces”. Knots remain in the background, the pore picture is clearly structured, the colouring is very harmonious and the charm is SouthEuropean. It’s a completely new oak that invites the viewer to take a longer look at it. Battle Rock will win many fans.

ARIZONA OAK. THE LIVELY. “Vivacious and sentimental.” The life of this oak is characterised by the wideness of a wild country region. Arizona’s heat and wind immortalised themselves in the décor and the little cracks tell about this impressive natural history. Knots play a subordinate role, clear pores come to the fore and slight planking keeps the country-house look in harmony. Arizona Oak is a real natural beauty that reminds you of the good old times – ‘Nostalgia’.

BOB‘S PINE. PURE HANDICRAFT. “Treated and popular.” The conifer wood of this décor is a beautiful pine that gives the impression of “real handicraft” and serves the current “Do-it-yourself trend”. The story of Bob’s Pine is vivid; it ranges from scratching tools, rubbing objects, wind and weather to many strong blows. Bob the Builder set to work and reworked the vintage wood by sanding, polishing and structuring it. Looks really good, man.

With their independent and contrast-rich characters, the “Six Pack”, as the delightful décor favourites are known, capture the zeitgeist and tastes of an international target group.

NATURAL TOUCH: THE DETAILS Natural Touch is Kronospan’s newest innovation in wood panel manufacturing. Natural Touch is supplied in 14 different décors including rare timbers such as: • Hemlock Nordique • Elm Lava • Cinnamon Walnut • and three kinds of Oak. Natural Touch comes with a range of matching edgings and carries full FSC certification. Natural Touch is available directly from stock at all nine of James Latham’s UK-wide panel distribution sites.

atural Touch from Kronospan is now available at James Latham, the natural choice in timber and wood panelling. Now architects, designers and furniture makers have an authentic rustic realism using melamine. The applications are vast, and include everything from cladding walls and building furniture to creating fixtures, and it is already a big hit with the shopfitting and hospitality markets. Natural Touch has the authentic look and feel of real timber as it is the first embossed-in-register melamine board where the grain texture precisely matches the surface finish. The surface structure is synchronised to match the image of the wood grain below, thus achieving the graining and subtle variations of shade and tone in an organic texture. Natural Touch is pre-finished, extremely durable, easy to work with and offers a consistency in both colour and grain. It is also a cheaper option than a finished veneered board and every board retains a consistent appearance. James Latham’s Group Product Champion for Melamine, Paul Morson, says that the reaction in the industry has been really positive, with interest from top end shop fitters, bespoke kitchen and wardrobe manufacturers and even exclusive designer outlets and retailers. 0116 257 3415 www.lathamtimber.co.uk

ach year the latest new designs and solid colours that have been added to the extensive Renolit Covaren and Renolit Alkoren 3D stock ranges are showcased in the Renolit Design 3D Highlights collection. In 2013, an exceptional 29 new designs were included in Renolit 3D range to reflect the direction towards choice and personal expression. There is an emerging taste for abstract designs in the market, while classic oak in all its different forms and shades never fails to be popular. New, deep textured surface finishes combine well with subtle soft touch finishes and now matt colours are just as on-trend as high gloss. Renolit is a market leader in 3D thermoforming films, meeting the high standards of design, quality and performance with the development of its surfacing products. The 2013 Highlights collection binder is available, and can be requested, along with any samples of the featured designs, by contacting Renolit Cramlington Ltd. 01670 718222 renolit.cramlington@renolit.com www.renolit.com/design

RENOLIT COVAREN Cobra The 3-colour print Cobra 2 SC is a fantasy design based on the trend for irregular shapes and geometric patterns. A soft grey tone overall with subtle charcoal highlights and mid-grey undertones has a finely polished finish, created by a soft coat surface emboss. Matching the design with any of the three colours printed within the design itself will create different effects. Cobra has a homely and harmonious atmosphere despite being modern and contrasting.

RENOLIT ALKOREN Thermo

Thermo B

The charismatic and sophisticated Thermo is a blackened oak with finely grained areas. It has a sleek grained texture as it is produced using a refined ash emboss. Thermo A (far left) is a black brown oak with red undertones but Thermo B (left) is slightly browner effect tinged with a lighter golden hue.

Thermo A matches Egger MFC reference H1199.

RENOLIT COVAREN Trojan PB The modern fresh oak Trojan PB has a ‘smoky brown’ colour with a pearl element that gives added vitality to the finished result. Depth and variety is achieved with subtle planking, fine wood-ticking and precise detailing. Finally, it is the Woodtouch emboss that provides an extremely realistic and natural surface feel. Trojan PB is ideal for working with different solid colours in mix and match situations. It is easy to create atmosphere with darker shades or a fresh, vibrant effect with one of the many stock range creams.

There is an increasingly popular trend moving into home settings from the fashion world using stylised imitation animal prints like crocodile leather and snakeskin. The new fantasy design Kroko creates a very exotic, extravagant impression in the world of furnishing. A rich dark purple, it succeeds in combination with neutral and plain colours and has a combined twin matt/gloss effect thanks to the diffraction of the light by the glossy lacquered transparent base and matt decorative print. The slight emboss pattern produces a pleasant, delicate surface.

he Schattdecor team took the opportunity of exhibition show booths to showcase their new trend and décor ideas, at both Interzum 2013 in Cologne and SICAM 2013 in Pordenone. Using the themes of Progress, Poetry and Comfort, the range of décors and foil products features design décors in up-to-the-minute trend colours, striking looks and textural effects. There are also contemporary solid hues from the Unique Colours collection and new ideas from the Digital Vision collection have been created to stun customers from the timber products and laminate industry. Also important are the developments at the company’s factory plant in Rosate, Italy. Originally concentrating on décor printing the plant’s portfolio has grown to include the production of postfoil and melamine foil. The signs of investment are encouraging as Schattdecor continues to enjoy success around the globe. 0049 8031 275 2779 b.reuss@schattdecor.de www.schattdecor.de

Marrakesh Walnut (above). Offering growth lines marked by striking movement and featuring elongated flame figures, small knots and the dark pores typical of the timber, it is a décor that particularly embodies the Poetry theme, according to Sales Manager Franco Lozza and his team. Noce Moscato (right). Taking its inspiration from European walnut material, this stylish décor is defined by expansive figuring, small knots and a varied pore pattern.

The Schattdecor factory at Rosate, Italy, has been expanded to include three impregnation lines for the production of postfoil and melamine foil. A fourth impregnation line is due next summer, the first such to be produced by Rotodecor. These will be in addition to its existing décor printing presses.

Sanremo Oak (right). This bespoke décor, shown with a Postfoil 3D finish, offers fine cracks, subtle crossfires, ray fleck and flames as well as straightgrain areas to create the currently popular semi-rustic effect. This type of foil finish suits the recreational vehicle and caravan market, which was proved when Schattdecor’s best-selling décors were incorporated into practically all the campervans and mobile homes at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.

Laramie Pine (above). With a very rustic appearance and 3D look, this décor is given a lively touch by the conspicuous saw marks and rich figuring. It is one of the five décors in the new Smartfoil CP+ collection, shown in a new bang-on trend colourway. Sibiu Larch (left). Rustic knots and flame figures make this striking décor very lively in impression. It has alternating sections of densely-packed and wide-spaced grain with the realistic look of wire-brushed wood. It characterises the trend towards coniferous woods with a synchronous melamine surface.

Featuring solid colours to complement Schattdecor’s latest woodgrain, stone and fantasy decors, the second edition of the Unique Colours collection clearly shows that Design Manager Claudia Küchen and her creative team have a sure feel for the perfect colour. Unique solid hues like Coral, Petrol Blue and Mint will set a harmonious accent in any interior design.
