ALL ROUND EXCELLENCE Contrasting the trend for linear kitchen design, the elegant lines of the Sinos range flow into rolling, curved corners to soften the aesthetic of an otherwise angular kitchen, or provide the perfect flourish to a more organic kitchen vision. Reminiscent of retro style classics, while echoing the contemporary trends of clean, uncluttered design, the Sinos is a sink for the ages.

editor’s kitchen choice Colonial Kitchens has re-launched its Cottage Cream kitchen due to popular demand. After taking the 2001 design back to the drawing board, it has now announced its reincarnation in a package that is bang up to date. Sporting a popular U108 vinyl door, which is available in a range of dimensions, the exterior appeal of Cottage Cream is decidedly that of the traditional painted look. However, behind the drawer fronts and cupboard doors, this range is as modern and highly spec’d as Colonial’s trendiest contemporary designs. 01706 877877 • www.jjoplc.com

Grey is the new black when it comes to 2013 kitchen trends but why should the colour trend stop at the kitchen door? Hinge specialist Salice has added a new titanium finish to its product range, which integrates perfectly into the design of a cabinet. Aesthetically appealing, the new hinge colour varies from the traditional nickel-plated finishes, with the muted sheen being less invasive. The titanium reflection makes it ideal for use with darker interiors and is suitable with a wide variety of wood shades. In addition, the titanium finish delivers excellent corrosive resistance, which is considerably increased compared to the classic nickel-plated finish. 01480 413831 www.saliceuk.co.uk

Alno, one of Germany’s leading kitchen manufacturers, has unveiled a new shade for its contemporary kitchens: Ultra White. Unlike conventional whites, Ultra White has almost no yellow hue, creating a cool, clean and precise finish, which in a modern kitchen enhances the crisp design lines. Whilst the company continues to increase the number of styles and finishes available, it is the first time it has focused on enhancing the shade itself. The extra definition provided by Ultra White is further enhanced when combined with Alno’s unique Vintucina finish of real wood shingle veneer - also new for 2013. 07766 733787 www.alno.co.uk

Stunning so Make a strong design statement in the kitchen with Glasline Matt, part of the schüller.C collection. The European grid system creates strong linear appeal with a uniform 4mm joint pattern.

German design has a well deserved reputation for purity, functionality and advanced engineering. The British consumer loves the reassurance that comes with these qualities. Perfect for purpose is the key - and that is certainly reflected in Schüller’s designs.

hen a consumer looks at a kitchen, what do they see? Is it simply a place to cook and eat? A space to store and conceal clutter? Or perhaps a meeting point for them and their family to discuss the day? The style, technology and engineering may differ from household to household but its main function stays the same: the kitchen is the heart of the home. It is this ethos that makes Schüller, with its renowned schüller.C collection, one of the most innovative German kitchen manufacturers on the market. It thinks outside of the kitchen box and makes what could well be a small, dysfunctional room into a tailor-made, multi-functional space, waiting to be enjoyed. The high pedigree associated with the schüller.C collection appeals to consumers who recognise that Germanic design effortlessly combines functionality, aesthetics and complex technology – creating the perfect solution for every space and budget. We know times are hard but Schüller believes achieving the perfect kitchen should not be constrained by budget. Whilst most kitchen manufacturers separate ranges by price, Schüller understands that different stages in life define choices. Whether it's a young professional couple moving into their first home, a large family or retired couple, they have a right to expect the same high standard of finish and number of options. Now embracing the trend for open plan living, the British consumer is keener than ever to divide space effectively to create one, multi-functional room - a concept championed by the renowned Schüller brand. Wayne Dance, MD of InHouse, the UK’s sole Schüller distributor, believes that although open plan living is becoming more popular, it’s adapting to work in parallel with twenty-first century living: “Open plan living used to mean simply creating a dining and kitchen area in one space but this no longer reflects the needs of the modern consumer.” He adds,

solutions for everyday life “Today’s spaces combine kitchen, dining, office, entertaining and family life - all in one coherent, stylish and robust design.” Schüller’s innovative solutions mixed with faultless German design embrace the concept of a multifunctional living space, offering British retailers an exciting new concept. With a clear knowledge of what consumers want, Schüller’s designs recognise the requirements of modern living, which in turn are filtered down through the design process to create a range of kitchens perfectly configured to the individual. With a faultless grid system for planning, no matter how complex, every design retains a coherent and pure visual line. And, with a large selection of options ready to be utilised, Schüller can unite the home by one central theme. From workspaces to drop down bars for entertaining, roller shutters to instantly conceal clutter, glass fronts in a huge range of colours and stunningly faithful naturals, the schüller.C collection is about as close to a bespoke kitchen as it is possible to get. Retailers benefit from Schüller’s comprehensive understanding of the needs of the consumer and the equal importance they place on supporting the retailer. The door suppliers offer exclusive delivery, extensive product portfolios to meet every budget and taste and advanced manufacturing processes that ensure the highest standards are met for every kitchen design. This, as well as a dedicated UK-based retail support through InHouse, a protected sales area and a full public relations and marketing programme, gives Schüller retailers confidence in both the brand and the future. 01661 842304 www.inhouseuk.net

German kitchen manufacturer Bulthaup claims to be redefining kitchen design. The new bulthaup b3 interior fitting system for drawers and pull-out elements signifies a break with the rigid organisational structures of the past. The old systems made it necessary to store silverware, cooking utensils and other tools in right-angled containers and to align working practices with these organisational structures and not the other way around. Now, for the first time, the user can design drawers as they see fit and change them at any time with ease and speed. The exclusive focus on function has been replaced by a focus on intuition, creating an entirely new user experience. 0844 846 7810 www.bulthaup.com

legant and understated, the new Sinos sink from Franke sits right at the top end of the product range. It marks a departure from linear styling, paying homage to the trend for softer, more flowing lines. Curves are a key design theme in kitchen furniture now, whether at the traditional end with heritage hand painted styles or in the contemporary sector. The Sinos range is versatile enough to work across the board, thanks to its organic, easy living design and Franke quality. In Sinos, elegant lines flow into rolling, curved corners, creating shapes that are reminiscent of retro style classics, while echoing the contemporary need for clean, uncluttered design. Sinos is manufactured in stainless steel and is available in three different bowl configurations, including single bowl and two different one and a half bowl options. A unique feature offered by Sinos is that the drainer board is angled not only towards the bowl but also backwards to allow water to flow effortlessly away. The curved chopping board which features a design motif is made from a Sanitized treated material, which offers a high performance and hygienic surface. rim is also included. The popular Franke Rollamat drainer can be used too, in order to protect the surface of the sink and aid drainage. It all adds up to a sink that can meet the hygiene and performance needs of a busy kitchen. Completing the range is the specially designed Sinos tap, which is available in chrome and SilkSteel finishes. This dual lever monobloc with swivel spout echoes the organic design lines of the Sinos sink. The new Midas sink is part of the ProValue collection that combines leading edge style with affordability. It is the latest in the Slim-Top range from Franke where the sink sits almost flush with the worksurface, delivering the look and feel associated with an undermount but without the associated fabrication costs or the need for solid surface or real stone worktops. The slim profile edge is the equivalent of just the thickness of the stainless steel material. Midas has all the easy installation benefits of an inset sink, as it is compatible with all types of worktop material including laminate. The square styling and 25mm radii of the internal bowl corners creates a clean visual aesthetic and makes the sink easy to maintain. A neat feature on the Midas is the integrated tap

Steve Rutter, Marketing Operations Manager for Franke UK, says that Midas gives retailers flexibility. “Because of the Slim-Top design, the Midas range of inset sinks is perfect for installation into any worksurface from solid surface to laminate. This gives retailers the flexibility to create designer looks at accessible prices. Midas is based on the geometric design lines that are popular in undermounted styles and with its integrated tap ledge it will prove to be an extremely useful product for consumers. There are two Midas models to suit 600mm cabinets. The single bowl has the benefit of an extra spacious bowl which is 550 by 400 by 190mm while the one and a half bowl option has the added functionality of the half bowl - which is useful for rinsing vegetables, defrosting etc. Optional accessories include a stainless steel strainer bowl, a wooden chopping board and the Franke Rollamat - all of which sit tidily on the ledge. addition of three new models. The new products are Minerva Irena, Helix and Mondial. The chrome finish Irena is similar to the original but has a stylish U shaped spout. The Minerva Helix and Mondial models, with U and L spouts respectively, are made from solid stainless steel which appeals to the more discerning customer and clearly illustrates the manufacturing quality. All Franke Minerva boiling water taps offer hot, cold and instant boiling water, saving time and energy. The fact that just one design will dispense hot, cold and boiling water saves space and keeps kitchen design sleek and uncluttered. Franke Minerva boiling water taps can be fitted new or retrospectively and need a standard 35mm tap hole. The unique hot water tank fits behind a standard 150mm cabinet plinth, helping to save cupboard space.

FOR THE IDEAL HOME

The trio of 45cm Compact Ovens in the Core Collection from De Dietrich can meet the demands of most cooks anywhere. The DME1145X Combination Microwave Oven delivers the speed of a microwave with the quality of fan cooking, co-ordinating nicely with the DOS1180X Multifunction Pyroclean Oven that uses innovative Steam Injection technology to add further succulence to meat, fish or pastry dishes. BUILT IN OWNERSHIP

The new NV70F7 from Samsung has a dual cavity that can be split using a divider - so two different meals can be cooked at two different temperatures at the same time. Features include a Pro Roasting mode that sears meat before adjusting to a lower temperature, warming, fan with grill and fast preheat. It matches other built in appliances in the Neo Collection. 01932 455000 www.samsung.com/uk

A built in oven and a hob is taken as almost a given when consumers buy a new kitchen - but tough times have undoubtedly delayed purchasing decisions. There is anecdotal evidence that people will put up with an oven or hob where not all of the elements work so replacement is often being put off in the hope of better times. In the oven sector, 60 percent is still freestanding, in cooling it is 90 percent freestanding to 10 percent built in with a similar picture in dishwashers where freestanding takes 60 percent. Laundry is hardly worth talking about, especially in fully integrated where consumers simply do not want to pay the higher price for a machine that basically does the same as a much cheaper freestanding model. According to AMDEA, the size of the built in market has increased by around 2.7 percent since 2011 with the bulk of the increase being in ovens and hobs. Some of this will undoubtedly be replacement product - especially in hobs where consumers are trading up from solid plate electric to induction.

BUILT IN DEVELOPMENTS The stainless steel built in gas hobs from Whirlpool now come with added ‘steel’ in the form of a iXelium coating. Acting as a barrier against chemical and mechanical agents, iXelium preserves the natural shine of the metal for longer and makes it more resistant to scratches and high temperature discoloration. It’s also easier to clean and doesn’t require aggressive detergents. Shown above is the AKT 680/IXL. 020 8649 5000 www.whirlpool.co.uk

Owning an AEG Culisense oven is like having a professional chef in the kitchen. It has a database of recipes and advanced sensors that can detect the weight and volume of the food to be cooked. It will also select the right temperature and time. NaviSight navigational controls make choosing the right function easy. There are 15 cooking functions, Pyroluxe self cleaning, TrueSpit for a rotisserie effect and CleanAir control. 08445 611611 www.aeg.co.uk

The economic situation has meant there has not been enormous development in built in appliances it has been more a case of tweaking and range realignment. Asian brands such as Samsung have made headway in the market with interesting products such as the new NV70F7 built in oven which is designed for consumers who would like a double oven but do not have enough space for one. De Dietrich now has two appliance collections - the Core Collection, which is the standard range and now includes some new 60 and 45cm compact ovens, and a new intelligent ICS dishwasher. The Premium Collection, as its name suggests, is the luxury end with a full range of compact ovens, full size ovens, hobs and hoods in pearlised glass Grey Pearl, Black Pearl and White Pearl.

STEAMY COOKING Some consumers find a steam oven that only steams hard to justify. The CombiSteam Deluxe from Electrolux has all the functions expected of a multi function oven plus three steam and hot air programmes. At 72 litres this is an oven that offers ample cooking space. built in benefits According to Maurizio Severgnini, MD at the Built In Division of Hoover Candy UK, energy efficiency and product functionality are the key areas manufacturers have invested in. A good example is the 76-litre Prodige multifunction oven with Hoover’s Vision LED lighting that uses 95 percent less electricity, and its large oven that can be divided into two separate cooking zones whenever necessary. 0151 334 2781 www.hoover.co.uk

Hotpoint’s patented High Definition Dual Flow system eliminates cooking hotspots and distributes heat evenly throughout the whole single oven, which comes with eight programmes and a 62-litre capacity. The double oven includes a Solarplus twin variable grill in the 39-litre top oven, has a 66-litre main oven and nine cooking programmes. It also uses Stay Clean catalytic oven liners to making cleaning easier. 08000 921922 www.hotpoint.co.uk

From deep textured designs to lightly brushed woodgrain, the new Axiom® worktop range by Formica Group offers a complete choice of worktops, splashbacks and upstands, giving designers and specifiers the tools to create eye-catching looks that are right on trend. Developed by Formica Group, True Scale captures the subtle variations inherent in natural materials, with stone and wood proving most popular. With no repetition across the width of the worktop, patterns can be unveiled in their fullsize beauty, offering you a natural finish at a fraction of the price. Whatever look you want to create, Formica Group has it covered. If idyllic country or classic kitchen is your thing, then take a look at the new Puregrain texture that offers timeless, lightly brushed wood grain with high durability. Alternatively, the modern Scovato texture combines a lightly chiselled effect with a smooth finish, which, combined with plain colours such as Diamond Black and White, will enhance the sense of depth and dimension. To add that personal touch, mixing and matching textures and colours is a simple and cost-effective way to create a bespoke look in your kitchen. By pairing a Swedish Oak Puregrain worktop with a White Scovato breakfast bar or feature splashback, your kitchen will be transformed into a personalised space like no others. Ask The Expert In an ever-changing marketplace the shape, style, construction, colour and finish of a door generally reflects the mood of the buying public, meaning prevailing trends are not always timeless. European shows throughout 2012 displayed a prominence of whites and creams, with simple slab designs and the handleless look being favoured. Manufacturers and distributors will undoubtedly reflect this trend in 2013, with current developments of a ‘super matt’ finish, which adds a silky touch and porcelain look, already in full swing. Acrylic faced doors with clever ABS edging add a feeling of quality and modernity to this sector, with a number of UK manufacturers offering their take on this door design. But it’s not all about clean lines, slabs, whites and creams. Traditional kitchens are re-emerging with in-frames, mock in-frames and assorted shakers appearing in vinyl wrapped, solids and five piece variants finished in warm matt colours including Dakar, Olive and Mussel. The development of new 2D and 3D foils within this trend has resulted in finished foils and five-piece doors appearing to be hand painted but retaining the integrity of the grain and structure that over painting tends to negate. There are many subtle but clever changes being introduced to the market today and whilst likely to be challenging, does hold potential and hope for us all. We can make 2013 a great year but we as an industry have to make it happen. At BA Components, that’s our philosophy and from that, the strategy emerges. Here’s to a great 2013!

With this Matt Stone Grey Tullymore kitchen from the Bella range, BA Components have captured the essence of a handpainted, in-frame traditional kitchen. The use of great design, superior membrane pressing technology and cutting edge foil decors results in an affordable alternative to a hand built, hand painted kitchen that looks and feels like the real thing. 028 8676 4600 www.bacomponents.co.uk

It seems that gloss is still a popular choice for many when designing a kitchen. With demand growing, TKC have launched its Lusso range - a high gloss painted kitchen door range, which offers a simple and stylish design. Its striking linear appearance can be softened though the addition of curves, giving the range versatility to work in both modern and classic environments. The 19mm MDF door range is available in cream (pictured) or white. 0161 336 3636 www.tkcomponents.co.uk

doors For the last 120 years, Ellis Furniture has prided itself on staying one step ahead of the style game. Its range of white, stone and maize gloss continue to be bestsellers, confirming an ongoing popularity for natural and neutral tones - and its grey tones becoming the musthave colour of the season. But there’s more to a kitchen than colour. Practicality also plays a huge role when designing your kitchen and with Ellis Furniture’s on-trend push-to-open technology and curved door range, practicality has never been more stylish. 01484 514212 www.ellisfurniture.co.uk

arpatt's 35th birthday was marked by the launch of a new range of ultracontemporary kitchen door designs, adding an innovative twist to its established product range. The Leicester-based door supplier has recently brought out three new contemporary styles, following strong demand from established customers. The Airo collection, whilst infusing functionality with sophistication, offers a sleek handleless design and elegant curves in a selection of finishes including gloss, natural oak and matt painted finishes. Its varied colours and finishes give designers uncompromising flexibility, offering numerous mix-and-match solutions. The Horizon collection offers 22mm slab doors in high gloss, wood veneer and painted matt finishes. Reflecting the popularity of painted doors, Marpatt has introduced eighteen paint colours since the collection began. The Horizon and Airo range also offer two exclusive finishes that include block and natural painted doors. Both enhance the beauty of the wood and, by working with the wood’s natural grain, Marpatt's designers have created on-trend designs that are perfect for a contemporary kitchen. With such a large range of options available, it’s clear to see why some door suppliers overlook more simple styles. Mark Koeberle, Marketing Director of Marpatt, believes you should not underestimate the broad appeal of a simple kitchen: “As a competitive kitchen door supplier, you need to understand your customer. A person's style ideas and budget vary and that is exactly why we offer a growing range of unique designs, including those with unique chisel moulding and scalopped plinth features, suitable for a range of budgets.” As popular as ever, Marpatt’s take on the simple, yet functional kitchen is expressed through its Orion collection. Its high quality doors are injected with subtle design accents, including flowing curves and refined lines, making this competitively-priced door a must for retailers looking to attract the style-driven, price-conscious consumer. Marpatt’s investment in its in-house finishing department has also been in response to demand and provides a distinct advantage to Marpatt clients. A steady increase in jobs and new automated spraying and preparation machinery has resulted in a turnaround time of just three weeks for hand-finished, top quality painted surfaces. Its colour matching service also gives you the freedom to choose the exact colour you want - and Marpatt can match to any material. Mark adds, “Our colour matching service has proved to be very popular. This new service means that for a small supplement any painted finish can be achieved. We’re currently seeing a big rise in the amount of light to mid shades of grey being asked for. Perhaps it’s the influence of a certain book.” The introduction of the ultra-contemporary range, combined with Marpatt’s more traditional wooden kitchens, illustrates the company's determination to present customers with a complete range of designs, helping them to stay ahead in a fast changing market. With the company constantly developing its facilities, creating new designs and offering endless colour ranges, you have to ask the question, “What’s next for Marpatt?” Mark's response, “You’ll have to wait and see.” 0116 274 3943 www.marpatt.co.uk

his time last year, Coventry-based door distributor Ney Ltd, was a newcomer to the madeto-measure door industry. Twelve months on and the company is going from strength to strength, adding new designs and finishes to its market-friendly door collections. Currently offering three inspiring collections that include vinyl-wrapped, acrylic-edged and spray-painted ranges, Ney is focussed on offering an on-trend range of designs and, with the Elegance collection offering a choice of twenty designs and thirty vinyl finishes, the Ney Door Collection really has a lot to offer. Painted doors are making something of a comeback in the European market and, never one to be behind with the times, Ney's painted Impressions range, made up of modern Slab, Atlas, Vogue and Shaker, is right on trend, whilst the popular acrylic-edged De Novo collection brings duo-edged and matching edges to high gloss in ten desirable colours. But the story doesn’t stop there. A year on and Ney has created a new range of finishes to complement its existing collections. Available from April 2013, the range of thirty stylish finishes, which take inspiration from nature, has been selected to keep the three popular collections fresh and vibrant. Gerd Ney, Managing Director of Ney adds, “The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry is constantly evolving, so we need to constantly adapt, too. We want to make the trend, not follow it and I think with our new range of finishes, we’re doing just that.” Ney is going back to nature with its 3D embossed finishes. Not only does the vinyl look natural, it feels

With thirty new 3D vinyl finishes available this April and a brand new timber range being launched in the spring, Ney’s stylish range of made-tomeasure doors are in demand.

Part of the Elegance range, this timeless ivory shaker county style kitchen is a popular choice in modern and traditional homes.

natural too. Keen to offer a wide range of finishes to suit all tastes, Ney’s selection of natural woodgrain vinyl gives customers timeless designs with a modern day effect. If you’re looking for something a little more edgy, cross-cut sawmarked woodgrain and modern, horizontal textures are also available. Both finishes capture the subtle variations inherent in natural materials such as ivory, graphite and walnut. Gerd adds, “We’re starting to see the distressed look making a come back. To reflect this trend, we’ve introduced a cross-cut woodgrain finish that has visible sawmarks embedded into the foil. It works really well when paired with an ultra smooth gloss.” It’s also been confirmed that the final plans are being put in place for the launch of a new timber range, available to order this spring. Gerd continues, “Thanks to valued customer feedback and customer demand, we have created a brand new timber range that reflects the current door trends in the UK and Ireland.” The twelve-piece collection, which has been created exclusively by Ney, will be available in a range of heritage colours, including old white, cotton and grey. With a lead time of just four weeks, no minimum order quantity required and a fourhour turn around on any samples needed, it's clear to see why Ney is fast becoming one of the leading door suppliers in the UK. It’s this constant ability to adapt and listen to the market that heads the company’s success and with the continual development of new designs and finishes it begs the question, what’s next for the Ney Door Collection? ou might not recognise the name Unilin but you will almost certainly know Quick-Step, a flooring system that can take much of the credit for the UK boom in laminate strip floors. The Uniclic® technology used for QuickStep was revolutionary in the world of laminated flooring because it meant floorboards could be installed without glue. The boards are simply angled and clicked and the job is done. The Quick-Step brand has since become world famous and won numerous international awards.

The Uniclic® technology was expanded to include furniture winning Unilin the coveted biennial "Best of the Best" Interzum award for Intelligent Material & Design at the Keulen Furniture Trade Fair.

In 2011, Unilin pooled all its knowledge and expertise to expand the revolutionary Uniclic® technology to include furniture. A tongue and groove system allows furniture panels to be clicked together at an angle of 90 degrees. With this new application of Uniclic® technology, Unilin won the coveted biennial "Best of the Best" Interzum award for Intelligent Material & Design at the Keulen Furniture Trade Fair. Unilin has now applied the new joining system to ClicBox, a range of kitchen carcases that allows kitchen makers and retailers who supply own brands to offer their customers quality results quickly and easily. By applying Uniclic® to the ClicBox range, assembly has been radically simplified and that means significant time savings. The special tongue and groove system allows panels to be locked together without the use of screws or tools. Click, clack and it's finished. The tool-less installation extends to every component of the kitchen cabinet, such as the mounts for the wall cabinets and the

Time is money so for kitchen professionals who want to reduce labour costs and combine quality with cost-effectiveness, the ClicBox click together carcase range from Unilin can only be good news. Putting ClicBox together is a cinch – and there’s no need for tools or expert knowledge.

centre post for wider cabinets. This means that ClicBox kitchen cabinets can be assembled up to five times faster than traditional cabinets. As an added benefit the Uniclic® joints are stronger, more stable and less visible than classic screw joints.

CLICBOX: IN 42 VARIETIES The ClicBox range includes 42 different units: • 18 base cabinets • 16 wall cabinets and • 4 larder cabinets with 4 shelves each. The base units are 720mm high and 570mm deep and vary in widths between 150 and 1000mm. There is also a corner unit (900mm wide) and an oven cabinet (600mm wide). The wall units are 720mm high and 330mm deep. The widths vary between 300 and 1000mm. There are two types of corner unit as well as bridges of 360mm high by 330mm deep in four widths (500, 600, 800 and 900mm). The four store cupboards are 570mm deep, 1970mm high and are available in the widths 300, 400, 500 and 600mm. There are also four shelving packs, each of four shelves, with widths to match.

There is a choice of white, ivory and lissa oak finishes.

With ClicBox, Unilin combines its unique click system with exceptional quality. Both the panels - laminated chipboard - and the finishes are designed in-house by Unilin in order to guarantee that each and every cabinet meets strict quality standards. A smart drilling pattern ensures that cabinets offer plenty of options (four drawers, five drawers, drawer line, etc), without the need for extra holes to be drilled. In addition, the drilling pattern is designed to match the most common types of mount (Blum, Indaux and Hettich). Cabinets are hung on the wall with the aid of an invisible metal clip that - once more without the use of tools - clicks into the back of the unit and can be positioned at different heights. ClicBox is available from hpp and Stellafoam in the UK and TPC in Ireland. Products are held in stock for customer collection. magine this: a cabinet range that requires no tools for its construction, assembled in thirty seconds and that is five times quicker to construct than its flat pack equivalent. This could sound too good to be true but Hill’s Panel Products (HPP) beg to differ, becoming the exclusive UK distributor for Unilin’s new ClicBox cabinet range. Designed and manufactured by the Belgian company Unilin, the new ClicBox is set to revolutionise the KBB industry. Available in thirty cabinet sizes and formats and three colours, the ClicBox cabinet’s outstanding design comes from the patented UNICLIC for furniture technology, which enables you to simply click the different components together – limiting the time and skill needed to construct a kitchen. Strength isn’t an issue either, with the groundbreaking system providing up to 25% more strength and three times more stability when compared to a standard cabinet in push tests. Mark Smith, Product Specialist at HPP, adds, “The cabinets are significantly stronger than those using the traditional cam and dowel systems that are currently on the market.” Once assembled, there are no visible fixings and each cabinet features an adaptable drilling pattern to suit a wide range of products. Where applicable, adjustable legs, centre posts and wall fixing brackets are provided, which can also be fitted without the need of tools. 18mm solid tops and 8mm solid backs provide the cabinets with further stability and durability. The launch of the new range, which is available to order in the UK from March, marks an exciting time for HPP and the industry as a whole. Mark adds, “This product is likely to change the way flat pack kitchens are constructed from this point on.” To order your ClicBox or to find out more information please visit www.hpponline.co.uk/clicbox or call 0161 628 6100.

Originally situated in Kingston-upon-Thames and employing only a handful of people, Ideal Bathrooms spent the next thirty years creating a brand that is claimed to be the UK's leading specialist distributor of bathroom products. Today, from its Head Office in Milton Keynes, Ideal Bathrooms is committed to offering unrivalled service. With no fewer than 15,000 different product lines in stock at one time in its four UK warehouses, Ideal Bathrooms offers next day delivery to over 99% of the country, including outlying areas. Danielle Lillis, Commercial Director at Ideal Bathrooms, believes that it's the company's longevity that is testament to its commitment to customer service. “You don't stay in business long if you don't keep your customers happy and well looked after,” she says. “We move with the times and introduce new ideas to meet our customers' needs.” It's perhaps no surprise that the Buckinghamshire-based company has won the NBG award for Supplier of the Year for the third consecutive year - an accolade the company is very proud of. Marketing initiatives form part of Ideal Bathrooms' drive to offer the very best in customer service. The Big Book Of Displays and the Create Your Ideal Bathroom brochure - both recent initiatives - are just two of the many support packages designed to help your business grow. Whatever your audience, Ideal Bathrooms' unique incentives are available to you.

Recent sales figures suggest that high-end retailers have been relatively unaffected by the state of the economy in recent years. The Premium Brand Strategy, primarily designed by Ideal Bathrooms to help the top end of the market attract new business, has also aided mid-market showrooms, too. The concept is simple: by diversifying and adding luxury items to displays, you will broaden your market and attract more customers. Danielle continues, “Our service goes well beyond the norm, as we work closely with our customers in all aspects of business and provide ongoing help and support wherever it is wanted.” Ideal Bathrooms’ constant drive to develop and grow has seen it be awarded the new, sole UK distribution rights of the Showerlux brand of enclosures. That was in late 2012. Since then, Ideal Bathrooms has completed a review of the Showerlux products and price structure. The Showerlux range now offers retailers a high quality product that meets the customer's design and budget needs and enhances margins for trade. To ensure Showerlux continues to be seen as a reputable enclosures brand, Ideal Bathrooms is mounting an intensive campaign directly to the trade with the aim of reinvigorating the Showerlux brand. “We want to take the Showerlux brand to new heights,” Danielle told us. And by investing heavily in a high impact advertising and PR campaign running throughout the spring and creating inspiring marketing material that includes a brand new 44-page consumer brochure to support showroom sales at the forefront, they're clearly on track to hit another target. Ideal Bathrooms has become a front-runner in bathroom distribution. Its continual investment and research into what today's consumer wants has reflected on the company's achievements. In an ever-changing and fast-paced industry, Ideal Bathrooms has kept a tight hold on its solid reputation and in doing so, has confirmed the success of the company and its customers. one are the days when you could afford to update your entire bathroom on a whim. It takes careful planning, scrupulous penny pinching and, in many cases, purchasing items from multiple high street and online stores to find the product you want, at a price you can afford. Modular furniture offers a safe middle ground where, without having to change your entire bathroom, you can still update parts whilst staying in keeping with your existing suite. Sounds too good to be true? Well, on the whole, modular furniture is a simple way to transform a bathroom but it doesn’t come glitch free. When opting for modular furniture, all existing pipe work, which was previously disguised by a pedestal, needs to be hidden - either in an existing wall or by building a false wall to enable a modular unit to be wall hung. Mark Walker, Sales Director at Bagno Design, believes that this should not put people off: “By putting feature stud walls in our own showrooms, we are illustrating how to hide unsightly pipework which enables the simple installation of modular furniture.” With the mechanics of module furniture explained, it only leaves the design to choose and with mixand-match design options increasing in popularity and many retailers and manufacturers becoming the complete bathroom solution, refreshing your bathroom has never been easier.

A good looking, competitively priced contemporary bathroom collection comes high on every bathroom retailer’s wish list – but all too often design detail is sacrificed for the sake of price. This certainly isn’t the case with the new Britton Bathrooms range from The Bathroom Brands Group. A true one stop source, this exciting new brand includes four sanitaryware designs, furniture, brassware and accessories supported by an easy to use consumer brochure and website. Common sizes throughout the range means that pieces can be mixed and matched with ease, whilst a wide range of colour and style options are available. 0845 539 0055 www.brittonbathrooms.com

There are high gloss finishes in a range of ontrend colours and the exclusive-to-AquaCabinets movement-sensor internal lighting. Consumers today appreciate the benefits of standalone modular furniture, whether for large family bathrooms or small en-suites. Modular furniture is versatile - and with the wide choice of unit sizes, types and finishes available, Pelipal® offers retailers a range that will meet every customer need.

A

lthough a relative newcomer to the UK bathroom furniture scene, Pelipal® claims to have grown at an outstanding rate. Unknown in the UK three years ago, the German manufacturer has gained market recognition with trade and consumers alike, which they put down to regular publicity in trade and consumer publications. The company says there are three key drivers for this growth:

Trends • Firstly, it’s about trends. There’s been a real increase in consumers seeking affordable design-led furniture to create stunning spaces that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional. Wall hung and freestanding units are proving popular in terms of style, with high gloss lacquers and glass combining with beautiful wood grain finishes very much on trend. Pelipal designs ranges that meet these key style indicators in every price bracket.

Price • We have to be realistic - times are tough for a lot of consumers as well as for retailers. Price is definitely a key decision driver. What’s changed is that consumers are not willing to compromise on design. Retailers have to be smart about choosing a supplier at the right price point, and with enough options that can stretch between grand designs and the most restricted budget. Stunning glass fronts and modular design turn the vanity unit into statement furniture design, as shown in the new Leonardo range from the Pelipal collections.

The new Lardo collection features a strong robust design with solid statement vertical lines. Beautiful reproduction wood grain sits perfectly with coordinated fronts in high gloss finish that makes the most of the trend for neutral tones.

50 • KITCHEN AND BATHROOM JOURNAL APRIL 2013

Functionality • Modular furniture affords the advantage of creating designs that actively match both the needs and the style of the individual. Wall hung pieces make as much of a statement as they offer in storage solution. Modular pieces allow a consistent design coherency with the rest of the home. Design meets functionality in storage and lighting. Innovative and integrated lighting is now a crucial element in overall bathroom planning. Echoing internal and flexible storage options found in kitchens, individually configured drawer options and inbuilt laundry storage offers the level of practicality previously unheard of in bathroom design.

othing could put people off visiting this year’s ISH, despite the efforts of the late onset of winter across Europe. Over 190,000 visitors from around the world took to the halls to see the latest kitchen and bathroom innovations from global leading manufacturers. I like to find myself in the midst of new trends and innovation. But, amid the mirage of high gloss whites and stainless steel, something a little different caught my eye: nostalgia. Not normally something you associate with a German manufacturer, Grohe was keen to promote its heritage. Known in the industry for its sleek, no-nonsense kitchen and bathroom products, it’s loosened the shackles and, for the first time, I’ve seen its softer side. Grohe’s extensive new tap portfolio and bathroom range, whilst staying in keeping with contemporary trends, blend timeless aesthetics with sentimental allusions. The new Grandera bathroom collection particularly caught my eye, as its design paid homage to an age of

grandeur long past. It seems the taps were inspired by the elegant and instantly recognisable lines of the Eiffel Tower. The theme continued as I stepped onto the Burgbad stand. Iconic shapes and timeless lines were in abundance as I journeyed through its new and extensive RC40 range of bathroom solutions. I was certainly drawn in by designer Mark Sadler’s unique Conceptwall. I was told the notion behind it was the answer to integrated living. What seemed from the outset to be a very contemporary solution, which defined the look and feel of a room through the elements, also has a timeless side – an essential feature that remains throughout his designs. But what would an exhibition be if it were not imaginative and dynamic? Buyers certainly had the cream of the crop this year, with hundreds of manufacturers launching new and unique products to market. Artiqua, known for its Germanic, synchronised bathrooms, introduced its cement sink prototype at the show. Whilst I

Japanese bathroom manufacturer TOTO has also released yet another innovative design – the self-cleaning toilet. RAK continues to enthuse the market with its range of dynamic bathroom suites, but Dallmer, the family-run shower drainage company stole the show. Celebrating its 100th birthday, there was partying on the stand, as well as the launch of two new drainage systems. When the industry is struggling, it’s inspiring to see a company evolving and adapting to keep its position in the market 100 years on. Frankfurt airport may have been closed and flights from around the globe cancelled, which will certainly have had an effect on visitor numbers, but ISH remains an unmissable event. And for those who did make it between the snowstorms, it was an exciting and inspirational show. Counting down to ISH in March 2015!

Japanese bathroom manufacturer TOTO, launched its Washlet at this year’s ISH. It incorporates TOTO’s latest developments and surpasses existing hygiene and comfort standards. ow is the weather today? Us Brits love to talk about it but it often leaves our perception of precipitation somewhat clouded. Not ones to be put off by convention, Hansgrohe’s innovative range of weather-inspired Raindance showers, with its new range of features, were still a talking point at this year’s ISH, ten years after its initial launch. The continuously evolving range, which has been designed to interpret rainfall patterns at the push of a button, transforms your water jets into droplets of gently pearling rain. Boasting a simple new push button 'select' operation, which lets you switch between functions with ease, the newly engineered collection, which was showcased at ISH, has enhanced its appeal, offering two unique spray sensations in one product. New to the range, the Raindance Select offers the choice of gentle aerated RainAir and a forceful, effective Rain Shower spray. Both delivered across the entire face of the shower, a powerful Whirl Massage Spray is also available for the hand shower. The novel Raindance Select E300 3jet overhead shower has been designed with rows of cascading shower nozzles that project the water in a uniform curtain which keeps its shape all the way down to the ground. This is switched on and off by a button on the thermostat. Jan Heisterhagen, Head of Hansgrohe’s Product Management, says the range’s longevity has come from customer feedback. “Here at Hansgrohe, we want our customers to enjoy spending time in their bathrooms. We take an avid interest in customer feedback and we adapt this to create and transform our products.” Working with its long-standing partners, Phoenix Design, to develop the Raindance range further, design has been integrated seamlessly with functionality. Available in allchrome or fresh dual chrome and white, new designs include square with softened corners and a timeless cylindrical design. Jan adds, “Both combine easily with other styles, suggesting the departure from minimalist styles in the next year.”

Created by designer Matteo Thun & Partners, the new Duravit bathroom range, the DuraStyle, was inspired by contemporary lifestyles. Looking for the overlap between product design, architecture and interior design, the bathroom series is deliberately understated and blends harmoniously into any environment. The narrow, elegant rim around the washbasin and the tapered outer edge that neatly slopes inward are characteristic of DuraStyle. The washbasin and toilet appear slender and understated - almost weightless. DuraStyle’s special lightweight properties are reflected in the furniture: a mix of open and closed surfaces gives the vanity units and console substructures, boards and cupboards a light and airy appearance. The combination of light and dark decors and wood shades create a visually stunning design and, with a modest price tag, it has a place in the home and in industry. 0845 500 7787 www.duravit.co.uk

German bathroom manufacturer, Bette, has launched its breakthrough minimal rim bath, the BetteLux. With a narrow rim width of only 8mm and available in three sizes, the new enamelled steel bath has been designed to offer a number of aesthetic and installation advantages. It has a soft and fluid design that make it look and feel extremely comfortable, with the bath gently flowing upwards to a fine line. The fine rim can be installed in two ways. Firstly, it can be fitted with a panel under the rim, with only a very small rim visible, so that the bath integrates into the furniture of the room. Secondly, the design of the rim also means that the bath can be installed absolutely flush into a stone surface, as is popular in hotel rooms, without the problem of a gap between the bath and the stone. Illustrating its journey over 60 years of shower history, Kaldewei’s longevity unfolded on stand and led the way to its new and innovative product ranges. A world first was amongst the four innovative bathroom concepts launched at the show. The seamless Secure Plus, made of a quartz sand mix, is a new anti-slip surface finish for its 3.5mm steel enamelled shower surfaces, which ensures durable safety and comfort underfoot. Designed to stay in keeping with Kaldewei’s continuous blend of design and functionality, it is virtually invisible and available in selected matt colours from Kaldewei’s Coordinated Colours Collection. Nicole Roesler, Head of Marketing at Kaldewei, says a clear understanding of what customers want is essential when developing new product lines. “Customers require a mix of aesthetics and comfort with expectations and functionality.” This ethos is reflected in the new Cayono bath and Puro bath range - both

ooze style and practicality. Whilst the Puro Duo offers a symmetrical shape and ergonomic design, the Cayono features clever space-saving outer dimensions and a generous interior. With steep sides and a completely flat base, it allows safe footing for showering whilst retaining its iconic and desirable shape. Never one to shy away from technology, Kaldewei launched Sound Wave, the first audio system designed exclusively for Kaldewei bathrooms. With the bath acting as the sound box, the Bluetooth-enabled system, which can be connected to phones, tablets and laptops, provides an audio experience with a difference, enhancing relaxation in or out of water. Available to order in the UK from April, Kaldewei’s new range of groundbreaking products is set to grow. Nicole adds, “Kaldewei has played a key role in bathroom design, with purist designs and trendsetting technology perpetually setting milestones in modern bathroom culture. If this is what we have achieved in 90 years, just imagine what we can create in the future.” To learn more about Kaldewei’s journey, call 0800 840 9770 or visit the website www.kaldewei.co.uk

n an age when many prefer to shower than bathe, it really has become a question of whether the bath is necessary at all. Many bathroom specialists, including AKW, Ideal Standard and Matki, have reported increasing popularity for the wetroom but why? A wetroom can create space, add extra value to a property and offer numerous advantages to families whose homes need to be suitable for multigenerational use. It’s also a fantastic water saving device. The average output of a shower is 12 litres per minute; a five-minute shower saves 110 litres when compared to filling a bath each time, saving you £194 per year. But let’s not forget style versus practicality. It certainly looks the part – its simple, crisp lines give it the feel of a luxury spa hotel at a fraction of the cost and its installation time, when compared to many bathroom designs, is minimal. The often-seamless design also offers quick and easy cleaning solutions and thanks to its generous style, it offers design-friendly features for the less able. With the combination of simplistic style and versatility, it’s certainly worth taking a closer look at the modern wetroom.

The new range of Aquablade shower heads from Vado have been designed to add a stylish minimalist touch to modern bathrooms. With the rim of the shower head measuring just 2mm thick, increasing to 5mm in the centre, it’s the thinnest in Vado’s collection. The comprehensive range of easy clean chrome shower heads include: 8” (200mm), 12” (300mm), 16” (400mm) and 20” (500mm) round and square shower heads, as well as a 200 x 300mm oval shower head and a 200 x 300mm rectangular shower head. All of the shower heads can be fitted with an H2Eco flow regulator to reduce water usage, can be either ceiling or wall mounted and are all capable of operating at a low pressure of 0.5 bar. 01934 744466 www.vado-uk.com

wetrooms Minimalist and sleek, Ideal Standards’ Synergy range of walk-in and wetroom panels is available in nine sizes to offer complete freedom in the creation of a full or partial wetroom installation. Even with limited space, the choice of panels and support brackets suitable for wetroom or shower tray installation could not be easier and all parts can be ordered separately. Manufactured from 8mm reinforced safety glass, the frameless panels have an innovative wall profile design which allows for a silicone free finish and offers clean lines for a sophisticated and contemporary bathroom. Additionally, this new wall profile design makes installation quick and easy, allowing adjustments to be made to the glass both horizontally and vertically, avoiding tile joints and wall joists. 01482 346461 www.ideal-standard.co.uk

Designed for applications where gravity drainage is not possible, the Saniflo Showermatic peristaltic suction pump enables the installation of wet rooms and shower tray installations almost anywhere. Activated by means of a gully sensor that starts the pump the moment water is sensed in the waste, it is ideal for wetrooms and other level access shower room applications. Pumping away twelve litres per minute, the easy to install pump is supplied with a standard shower tray. Waste options are available for 90mm diameter waste holes as well as sheet or tiled floors. 020 8842 0033 www.saniflo.co.uk

Worcestershire-based AKW has launched Larenco® Duo, a shower screen range that has been exclusively designed with two full height split glass doors, connected by a unique duo-link handle to lock the doors together. For wheelchair users or for those requiring additional care when showering, the TriForm® is a new, easy-fit linear shower former that, whilst guaranteeing a watertight wet room, is capable of bearing weights of up to 40 stone. It also features a unique integral trough waste that maintains excellent water integrity without silicone. 01905 823298 www.akw-ltd.co.uk

Matki has extended its existing EauZone Plus Collection to include a new wetroom panel with hinge panel. Combining the simplicity of a wetroom with the practicality of an enclosure, the wetroom panel includes a clever hinged panel which can be rotated 180 degrees to prevent water escaping the shower area. The panel also comes with an optional low level tray which can be sunk into the floor to achieve a flawless finish. Non-slip hinges hold the reassuringly solid 10mm safety glass panels in place and the panels are then innovatively recessed into the tray with a watertight seal, eliminating the need for silicone sealant. 01454 322888 www.matki.co.uk
