GREY IS THE COLOUR Grey is emerging as the new black according to Bellissimo – and to prove it the company has just added five solid greys and woodgrains to its Saturn vinyl range. Anthracite is a dark, solid gloss while Lava and Stone Grey are dark and light solid matts. Grey Drift Oak and Avola are the woodgrain options in matt. Customers were enthusiastic about the Accent contemporary range when Marpatt introduced it last year with strong sales following the installation of displays across the UK. As a company, Marpatt has strong faith in customer feedback so has listened and acted by launching the new Horizon, Orion and Airo ranges. High gloss came high on the customer wish list and is available at various price points within the new collections. Orion is the most competitively priced and is ideal for contracts when a quality gloss door is required for applications where the budget is crucial. Internal and external curves are available, providing very useful design flexibility for such a well priced door. Airo is a 22mm J-Trim handleless design available in high gloss, matt painted and real wood veneer finishes. The choice of finishes allows designers to mix and match, creating endless opportunities for inspiring design. Horizon is also a 22mm door in an ultra-contemporary slab design, Unique features include the Chisel Moulding and Scalloped Plinth – both registered designs. Horizon is available in high gloss, wood veneer and painted matt finishes. The painted finish is available in 18 colours and is applied at the Marpatt in house finishing department in Leicester. The company has made significant investments in this facility with increased staff and some automated spraying and preparation machinery that, combined with hand finishing, delivers a top quality painted surface available on a reliable turnaround time of three weeks. Marpatt has recently introduced a special colour sample service. This new service means that for a small supplement any painted finish can be achieved - the first pink Marpatt in frame kitchen has already left the factory. The introduction of the contemporary range, combined with products such as the more traditional wood kitchens and in-frame means that the Marpatt range is now truly well rounded and can cater for all tastes.

laudia Hiepel is Renolit’s Munichbased designer and has identified the main trends - 3D films; deep pore embossing; soft, muted unicolours; and natural wood finishes. “There are two megatrends,” she explains. “The first is deep embosses, such as our latest innovation, Okasha, which allows you to see and feel exactly the same thing. It’s based on a combination of oak and ash pores and looks like real wood with wide-spaced rings. The second megatrend is ‘non colours’; reduced grey tones, greatly softened tones, like in fog - and the fashion and colour trends in the coming season will reflect the weather.” Renolit SE’s Corporate Design Management, together with the French stylist RCM, has developed three new colour concepts with the titles Fog & Snow, Wind and Rain. “There are no contrasts in fog and no sharp contours in snow, as if the world is viewed through a misted up glass,” says Monika Fecht, Head of Corporate Design Management. Ceramic and Putty both belong to Fog & Snow. The colour spectrum Wind offers an almost inexhaustible number of blue tones from light to dark, weak to robust. Dark red tones such as Cranberry provide
contrasts with Lagoon. Green tones define Rain with new variants such as Fern and Stone providing balance and contrast with harmonising wood decors such as the new Swiss Elm which Renolit showed prominently at ZOW recently. “We are showing four new Elms, all colour reduced,” continues Claudia. “In recessions, markets become frightened and conservative. Colour reduced interiors look valuable without being extreme. “Deep structures in wood decors, such as saw-cut and brushed surfaces, imply a certain solidity; something to cling to in uncertain times, perhaps. We have several deep embosses on the stand. Oak remains popular, especially with our Sawcut structure.” But for those who are not afraid of a little adventure, Renolit’s Cobra taps into the new trend for irregular stripes and geometric shapes in blues, beiges and greens. Renolit has also introduced a new concrete structure, Moulins, with discreet block prints in cool colours. Hettich has big plans for the year ahead with substantial investment in products and customer service. The launch of a dedicated range of ProDecor handles and dynamic new drawer options are just two examples of the good things to come. The company plans to move into a new UK headquarters and showroom later this year.
