fter nearly 40 years in the UK, Neff's CircoTherm remains the original and best forced air system on the market. It has been much imitated by other manufacturers but never equalled. The principle of CircoTherm remains the same today as when it was first introduced in 1972. Air is drawn in by a powerful fan, heated by the element and forced back into the oven through ducts in the rear wall. As a result, the oven heats up rapidly and needs little or no pre-heating before cooking can start, saving time and energy. There is no intermingling of flavours, foods cook across the whole of the shelf level, and there is rapid sealing and less shrinkage on joints. Because CircoTherm is a controlled method of cooking, the contents of each shelf are cooked in their own “mini oven”, so food not only tastes as it should but fats and juices are not distributed around the oven cavity. The inside of the door does not become greasy and hot air skims the front of the oven as it passes over the food. Unlike other forced systems, CircoTherm keeps much of the moisture produced by cooking inside the oven cavity, giving juicy, moist results. From our experience, customers of all ages and many different cooking abilities are always pleased by the results achieved by their oven. new cooking innovation from the UK’s built in appliance brand leader Neff is always hot news for keen home cooks. From CircoTherm to CircoSteam and now SlideAway door to AquaAssist, Neff is always making kitchen history. AquaAssist is the name of Neff’s latest cooking concept. It brings together two established elements of Neff expertise - namely built in ovens and steam competence - to create an ingenious new method of food preparation which adds extra moisture to the cooking process. In conjunction with seven cooking functions, the addition of AquaAssist not only enhances the visual appeal of food, but also significantly improves the texture and moistness of the final result. Water content AquaAssist is specifically designed to work in tandem with seven standard cooking functions, including CircoTherm, CircoRoasting, CircoTherm grilling and Bread Baking. It works on the principle that foods like potatoes, meat, dough and vegetables all have different water content and therefore react differently when cooked. The addition of AquaAssist boosts the traditional finished result by increasing the humidity for all seven standard cooking functions. It is also ideal for crisping food such as Roast Pork and refreshing food such as bread, because the additional moisture prevents them from drying out.

New technology The AquaAssist technology features a patented two-stage pump system, unique to Neff. One pump brings fresh, pre-heated water into the cavity as water vapour and the second pump removes any residual water. The inclusion of a second pump guarantees that the water is always fresh and also avoids any chance of tainted water affecting the outcome of the food being cooked. Not only is this method very hygienic but it is also highly energy efficient.

Two choices There are two new 60cm wide SlideAway door single ovens with AquaAssist: models B46C74 (Series 5) and B45C42 (Series 3). These new versions are in addition to the existing Series 5 and Series 3 models. Finished in stainless steel to coordinate with other Neff builtin appliances, they are ideal for combining either vertically or horizontally with the company’s In-Line range of compact cooking appliances, such as the coffee centre, steam ovens and warming drawers.

Total convenience To operate the AquaAssist function, water has to be added to the 500ml capacity water tank to the left of the oven controls. After filling up the water tank, one of three humidity levels can be selected. If you decide halfway through that you want more or less humidity, you can

Goodbye Washing Up The A+ rated Prime IDP148D dishwasher (left) uses just 12 litres of water for a 14 place setting load. It has a 49 dbA Quiet+ motor and a sensor that detects food particles and sets the water pressure, temperature and number of rinses to deliver optimum cleaning performance. There are seven programmes selected via an easy to use digital display. Programmes include a special delicates wash for wine glasses and a 25 minute speed wash. For compact kitchens, the A rated slimline Start IDS105 in silver, black or white (above) is a good choice that has earned the Waterwise Marque because it uses less than 1.08 litres of water for each of its ten place settings. It has five programmes include a 50 degree Eco cycle, a 35 minute rapid wash and Intensive for heavy soiling. Available in stainless steel, black, and white, these new appliances from Giugiario feature sleek styling while offering genuine efficiency, reliability and functionality. Freestanding 50 and 60cm cookers have been revamped for the first time in nine years with larger viewing windows and sloped controls and handles giving a modern premium finish. New single and double built in ovens have a panoramic glass door, metal handles and a matching flat fascia with ergonomic controls. Most of the ovens in the new range have an A energy rating. Washday News The 9kg capacity Prime washing machines offer a choice of easy to use programmes from a fast 15 minute wash to special settings for outdoor wear and sports shoes. These A rated machines are recommended by The Energy Saving Trust and include Smart Technology weight sensors that control water and energy consumption for the most efficient wash cycle, depending on the size of the load. The machines are easy to use and have a digital display and 24 hour delay timer. Indesit has launched its first ever B rated 8kg condenser dryer (above). The Advance IDCE8450 features Automatic Sensor Drying which monitors moisture level and stops the machine when the clothes are dry. There are 16 programmes including jeans, wool, delicates, outdoor wear and specialist sports. LUCE gas hobs deliver High Definition cooking via Hotpoint’s patented Direct Flame burners. These fast and even burners deliver heat where it is needed directly to the base of the pan through a single flat unit that is covered in hundreds of tiny holes. Not only does this system save 20 percent in time and energy when compared to standard burners, it is also easy to clean as there are no grooves or gaps where grime can linger and the whole unit can be placed in the dishwasher. Setting a benchmark for energy efficiency with an A+++ rating, the KG39EA140G is the most energy efficient fridge freezer from Siemens to date. A key attribute of this model is its lowFrost technology, which incorporates a special wrap around evaporator in the base of the appliance. Ice build up is less severe and more uniform and defrosting is significantly faster than in conventional refrigeration. Instead of the usual function and temperature controls, this exciting oven features a touch screen with picture icons to access different cooking functions. There’s a choice of five automatic programmes and a range of user friendly options to allow customised cooking - the user can even choose which heating elements will be used to suit the food being cooked. CDA is the first domestic appliance company to bring an oven with tft touch sensitive technology and userfriendly software to the UK consumer marketplace at an accessible price point. The SV310 oven is intelligent, automatically choosing the temperature and cooking time. It has some clever and practical extra features too. If you want to cook a chicken with some roast potatoes, simply touch the chicken icon and the oven will even let you know part way through the programme the best time to put in the potatoes for perfect results! The oven’s intelligent software automatically sets all the cooking parameters and cooks the food perfectly. For more specific control, a customised cooking programme can be quickly created in the manual mode. There are five touch control auto-cook functions (roast meat, chicken, pizza, cake and toast) and five special functions (defrost, dough proving, yogurt making, keeping food warm and plate warming). In addition the SV310 offers a wide range of standard functions, giving ultimate flexibility for the keenest cooks. These include fanned and static cooking, full and half grill options, browning oven and warming oven as well as all the combinations of fan cooking with upper or lower heat etc.

Team the 4Q5 gas hob with the 6Q6 or 9Q6 ovens and the EVQ7 extractor for a completely co-ordinated look. This five burner stainless steel and glass hob has five burners, including a 3.5kW wok burner, one rapid burner, two semi rapid burners and an auxiliary burner. Flame Safe means that the gas will be turned off should the flame go out on any of the burners.

The circular EVQ7 extractor makes a strong, modern design statement in the kitchen. Finished in black glass and stainless steel, this top of the range extractor has impressive features including four speeds, touch controls, a 99 minute variable timer and Quick Start. The extractor also features two halogen downlights and a washable grease filter. The extraction rate is an impressive 760m3/hr and operating noise is a quiet 54dBA.

Compact appliances that can be combined to create a practical and useful bank of equipment are a strong trend in kitchen design. Coffee machines, steam ovens, warming drawers and compact multifunction ovens are all familiar items - but CDA has taken the idea a step further with an integrated ice and water dispenser that will provide perfect ice cubes and filtered chilled water on demand, The machine will make 12 cubes of ice in ten minutes and has a one litre ice storage tank so cubes are always available when needed. Autostop stops ice production when the tank is full. The chilled water dispenser has a preferred quantity setting, a UV sterilising filter and a 2.5 litre tank. Described as a modular system with unprecedented geometrical dimensions, the kitchen reflects the free and easy style of its renowned designer. Textrix is designed without handles. Base unit doors can be opened via a groove beneath the worktop (also available as a double groove strip) with a vertical groove for columns. Wall units have a shaped bottom to aid opening. Motorised systems are available for base, wall and tall units.

Tetrix is designed on rectangular modules measuring 36 by 60cm and combined on a horizontal axis. The idea finds its inspiration in the world famous Tetris computer game. Doors are made by applying sheets of glossy or matt tempered glass that is flush fitted to the panel. It is possible to have support panels in different heights and glass in different colours. The panels are separated horizontally by aluminium edging that keeps the various types of door aligned.

Tetrix has two total heights of 200 and 236cm. Wall units are available in 36 and 73cm heights and can be combined to make a total height of 109cm.

s worktops are usually selected once the door choice has been made, it is vital that the two elements should co-ordinate. Westag & Getalit AG has expanded its range of cut to size worktops with the addition of new edging variants on HPL laminated products. Edgings are available in various styles, ranging from smooth to grooved. Worktops with an aluminium edge fit perfectly with other materials used in contemporary kitchen design. The range also now includes PP effect edges which, although only 1.5cm thick, have an impressive visual depth highlighting the décor beneath. Another highlight is the Alu Lisene aluminium profile that encloses a flush fitted edging strip to match the worktop decor.

Roca, Scivaro and Tessuto are three new surface textures for Westag & Getalit AG’s HPL laminate bonded worktops. Roca and Scivaro feature an authentic stone texture – Scivaro imitates slate while Roca has the look and feel of quarry stone. The Tessuto textile finish has a real linen structure and will be available for the Brown Line stock decor.

These included one new fine structured, five new coarse structured from the Miracle series and six from the Raindrops collection. The new Raindrops decors include Raindrops Concrete and Raindrops Rain. In contrast to the Miracle decors the transparent crunchies embedded in the material of the Raindrops decors create an interesting depth effect while small, glittering particles add shimmering light

PLANNING WORKTOPS THE EASY WAY Planning and pricing customised worktops is made easier with Westag and Getalit AG’s CutDesign software programme for retailers. This helpful tool simplifies the planning, pricing and ordering process. Most important for UK customers was the new Movento runner system, which offers an unprecedented ease of glide thanks to the new, synchronised running system and superb lateral stability. Four dimensional tool free adjustment and dynamic carrying capacity of 40 and 60kg are all standard. Movento also incorporates integrated Blumotion soft close. Blum recognises the importance of motion perfection in three dimensions – the opening of furniture, the movement in between opening and closing and the closing itself. For opening the electronic automatic Servo-Drive was shown in an ever wider variety of applications in base units and on overhead Aventos lift systems. The mechanical auto opening Tip-On was also on show. Blum’s Tandem runner with integrated Blumotion still underpins the drawerbox and pull out families but the addition of Movento marks a milestone of progress in this area. The award winning Clip Top Blumotion hinge was shown in a greater variety of opening angles and options than ever before. The entire Blumotion mechanism is encased in the hinge boss and can be deactivated by the flick of a lever for light doors. Blum also participated in a special show within a show called Innovation of the Interior with a spectacular exhibit where products appeared to move out of a shining metallic wall.
