SAFETY & SECURITY

Safety and security are of the highest priority at all Carlson Rezidor hotels – and our motto is ‘Always Care.’ Our motto emphasizes the personal responsibility every employee takes to ensure the safety and security of people and property in all of our hotels. Carlson Rezidor has a global portfolio with more than 1,300 hotels around the world. Whether you’re staying in one of our hotels in Beijing, Beirut, Berlin, Belize, Bangalore, or Boston, we give paramount importance to your safety during all stages of your interactions with us – starting from booking a room all the way through checking out and beyond. We proactively use the TRIC=S approach to keep our guests safe and secure. By rigorously following the TRIC=S formula of Threat Assessment, Risk Mitigation, Incident Response and Crisis Management we ensure the Safety and security of our guests.

“In this era of global security concerns, it has become even more important for us to have a uniform approach to security in all of our hotels to ensure that we have the necessary level of preparedness. This formula, a result of collaboration across our different theatres, helps to make our guests safe and secure in all our hotels around the world.” Paul Moxness, Vice President Corporate Safety & Security, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group

SAFETY & SECURITY THROUGHOUT THE GROUP Threat Assessment We monitor developments 24/7 and via the Carlson Global Security Operations Center backed up by information, analysis and intelligence from organizations such as OSAC (Overseas Security Advisory Council) and business risk intelligence providers, we feed information directly to our operations. We also encourage hotels to actively engage in local community safety and security related forums available in their hotel association or local public or private sector crime prevention schemes. Risk Evaluation and Mitigation All hotels under the Carlson Rezidor umbrella have access to a unique online Safety Security Self-Assessment tool. The SSA assists hotels in evaluating how well they are prepared for risks they may face by guiding them through the objectives set out for: Guest Safety and Security, Employee Safety and Security, Operational Security and Fire Safety. Each of the over 140 questions in the SSA is directly linked to a collection of best practices from hotels throughout Carlson Rezidor. Sharing best practices keeps the system dynamic and offers the highest value to hotels and our guests. The SSA also allows us to have an overview of incident trends and helps us focus on prevention and preparedness activities directly related to threat assessments. Carlson Rezidor employs external surveyors every year to verify the validity of information submitted to the SSA by surveying a number of hotels.

Secure Internet Access Connectivity is key for most travellers today. Carlson Rezidor is committed to keeping you connected. We also take your privacy seriously when visiting our brand websites. More information about the website privacy promise and policy can be found on all brand websites.

GUEST SAFETY DURING THEIR STAY WITH US Incident Response Capability In a company with a portfolio as diverse and growing as the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, we maintain the high levels of safety and security our guests and employees rightfully expect from us achieved through the everyday actions of every employee at every level in every hotel in every country. We have developed a 1-2-3 philosophy for Incident Response as a simple standardized formula that can be applied throughout the hotel group. Procedures for the most diverse and complex problems from slippery floors, to fire alarms and full scale evacuation can be developed from these three steps; 1. Sound the Alarm: If something is wrong, tell someone about it 2. Save Lives: Make sure that you and others are not in any danger 3. Solve the Problem: Follow up and make sure the problem gets solved

Your Health & Safety Every year, sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) strikes up to as many as one million people worldwide – and the lives of many of thousands of people can be saved by increased access to early defibrillation. Where possible, Carlson Rezidor Hotels are equipped with defibrillators so that our guests can rest a little easier.

Crisis Management, Communication and Continuity We manage crisis by being prepared in advance. Our Crisis Management program is centered on: preparation, introduction, organization and establishing and using an incident management room. We have a common template for developing crisis management plans at every location, backed up by corporate support and response. Through a partnership with Kenyon International, a crisis and disaster management company, over 400 of our hotel General Managers in properties around the world in the past five years have been trained to: • U nderstand the components of a crisis and be prepared for a multi-agency response • Lead, direct and manage a local crisis management team • Establish and maintain effective crisis communication internally and externally • Capably represent the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group during an emergency or crisis
