Craftsmanship, a sense of style and an incredible flair for colors, patterns and materials: with these qualities – as well as an old handloom –Marlen Tostmann founded her family business at Lake Attersee in 1949. Today, more than seven decades and three generations later, Tostmann Trachten has long been regarded as the epitome of high-quality and timeless dirndl and traditional costume fashion that has attracted countless fans far beyond Austria’s borders.

Production still takes place in Seewalchen, Upper Austria – albeit no longer on old looms, but with the expert knowledge of nearly 100 members of staff. The company’s lakeside headquarters has a salesroom as well as a store in Vienna, which itself is a real treasure chest housed inside historic walls. Be it weddings, traditional festivities or simply as everyday wear, the store offers women’s, men’s and children’s collections from its own production and local manufacturers on two floors. In addition, there are lovingly selected home accessories as well as a rental service and a made-to-measure workshop.
