WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING By Delia Owens

t’s not often I agree with the raving reviews that accompany the release of a new novel. All too often I’m taken in by the glowing reports that promise an unforgettable read or an unexpected twist, only to be disappointed by the weak storyline or predictable plot. This particular book, however, delivers on all of its promises. Where the Crawdads Sing is the debut novel by Delia Owens. It’s a New York Times Bestseller that has been featured on Reese Witherspoon’s dedicated Instagram site, @reesesbookclub. As a result, over one million hard copies have been sold and it reached number one on the Amazon Charts for Fiction. Having read the captivating tale based in the wilds of North Carolina, I can see why. Never has a book touched me the way this one has. Never has a book resonated with me or left me almost speechless with awe. It follows the reclusive life of Kya Clark who, after being abandoned by her family, struggles to fend for herself and find acceptance in a world of prejudice and spite. Mother Nature becomes her only friend, the lonely marshland in which she lives offering solace and protection throughout her childhood and into maturity. Her solitary life is eventually disturbed by the local ‘golden boy’ who sets out to seduce the vulnerable Kya and for whose murder she is ultimately tried. The story is credible, the characters convincing but it’s neither of those things that make this novel so powerful. The prose does that all by itself. Owens’ writing is so beautiful and so unique it literally takes your breath away. Her rhythm is almost lyrical, the words almost poetic. She conjures striking imagery, teasing the senses with hypnotic descriptions, extraordinary similes and curious metaphors. The reader is coaxed inside the wilderness, witnessing the changing seasons through Kya’s eyes. The native wildlife, the ever-changing footprint of the marshland and the precious treasure abandoned by nature - rare shells, colourful feathers - provide an alluring backdrop to this tantalising tale. Having lived with Kya through hardship, independence and grief, you will admire her flawed character. As the underdog, you will root for her throughout her formidable journey and sympathise with her when mistreated or misjudged. You will also marvel at the author’s genius that is evident on every single page of this book. Never has a gull been so vividly described, a firefly so gloriously portrayed or a hummingbird so masterfully illustrated. As one reviewer so eloquently put it, Owens doesn’t tell us what to think, but alludes to each message through writing so alive you can almost hear it breathing. This is one book I could read again and again. It is simply beautiful, the prose so exquisite it will blow your mind. Bravo Delia Owens. www.cpmagazine.net

A lot of practices believe that breathing correctly can have a significant impact on our overall health. When a woman is giving birth they go with her through the steps of breathing, or you can go to meditation classes the solely follow on breathwork. In fact, I personally went to the Mayo Clinic for some chronic health issues I deal with and a key area of their focus was breathing. I have been to breathing classes prior to the Mayo Clinic and also tried to figure it out myself through YouTube, but I always struggled with this. When I walked into the Mayo Clinic, They strapped me up to this machine where I was visibly able to see my muscles tense up and relax and to also get an idea how deep and slow my breathing was. They were showing me a visual of what was happening internally which is basically proving scientifically the effects breathing has on us. It took me a while to practice this technique. I’m not going to lie, I struggled in the beginning and felt like I was having more trouble breathing and a panic attack. I was given different methods of how to relax myself and to see in front of me what was happening internally helped so much. A huge belief is that we enter the world breathing correctly, but as we progress in life our breathing changes. A lot of people start breathing from the chest instead of allowing the breath to come from the diaphragm. This is why it won’t be an instant quick fix that you are able to master if you decide to practice this, because you will soon figure out that you have breathing wrong for probably 10, 20, 30 or more years. It will have to be a conscious effort of continuously monitoring your breath. The act of breathing correctly, with time can have a profound impact on your everyday life. Breathing in a more deep and slow manner can help with the following: 1) Painful and tense muscles 2) Anxiety 3) Fatigue 4) Brain fog 5) Anger Issues 6) Stomach pains 7) Widespread body pain 8) Depression 9) Blood circulation

There is scientific evidence to explain exactly how breathing can help the above mentioned which can easily be googled. The beautiful thing about breathing is that it is both backed up by science and has also been practiced for hundreds of years by many ancient traditions and ways of life. As mentioned previously, this is not something you will master straight away and also requires practice. You will have to consciously monitor your breathing throughout the day. You may also have to start by practicing straight for 5 – 10 minutes, where there are no distractions. There are visual breathing exercising on YouTube that are very beneficial, if you type in “Visual Breathing Exercise”. It is also possible to go to group classes or to certified practitioners such as myself for one-on-one sessions. Another really interesting fact about practicing breathing is people who practice it regularly have developed a calmer demeanor, with their facial natural expressions becoming more relaxed after practicing it every day for at least 2 weeks. Some have made claims that they look in the mirror and look younger, just as if they have had botox. It would be an interesting experiment to take a before and after photo to see for yourself. So with all the benefits of breathing shared on the table, why not start practicing it today or recommend it to someone you care about? www.cpmagazine.net

Zanzibar, an island considered as paradise to most travelers, actually needs our help. Overshadowed by crystal-clear waters and soft sand beaches, is the poverty that most visitors donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t see. Tucked away from the wealth and tourism are schools that are run down and children that arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t able to receive an education. Aside from exploring the beaches on the island, I traveled to Zanzibar with the intention of giving back. I chose to volunteer at an organization whose mission is to offer an education to all children. Yazid Foundation, a relatively new organization, is striving to build a brand-new school in a poverty-striken neighborhood that is lacking an education facility. Their vision is to construct a school with an attached hostel for future volunteers who would like to come teach the local children. I spent some of my days while on the island visiting the plot of land where the schoolâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s foundations are being laid and meeting the previous land-owners who sold their land at an incredibly low cost to the foundation-- they knew it was to better their grandchildren and great grandchildren. www.cpmagazine.net

To give a brief sense of what the schoolâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s surrounding neighborhood is like, aside from having no school, there is no running water and no local well so the children must walk every day to a distant well to retrieve water for their entire household. I walked to this well and tested it out myself, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not easy. This is one of the childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s main chores when their focus should be on studying and school. www.cpmagazine.net

Local schools charge around 3KD for a child’s monthly fees and 5KD for a child’s initial enrollment and uniform. That’s very little for most people, but the cost is so extreme for the locals of Zanzibar that families often can’t afford to send their children to school. While Yazid Foundation is in the process of building a future for children, they are also helping local schools that are in bad condition. The foundation raises money to fix schools in other neighborhoods. This assistance includes not just books but new toilets, carpet or other items that improve the school facility, Yazid Foundation works tirelessly to support the schools in the community. Volunteering with Yazid Foundation was an unforgettable experience. Sitting in the classrooms with these children helped me realize their struggles. These children not only value their education more than what I’ve seen in first world countries, but they were the most humble and down-to-earth little nuggets I had ever met. They offered me their pencils, books and chairs-- the only items they even owned. What excited the students the most was knowing that I was there to meet THEM and I was interested in knowing all about THEIR lives. If you’ve been inspired and would like to help, Yazid Foundation offers packages that include volunteering and leisure excursions on the island. If you’re unable to travel far, Yazid accepts donations in which they will send you a receipt and photos of what your contribution was used for. An alternative option is to sponsor a student which will enable them to attend school. The joy of the later is receiving pictures throughout the month of the student’s progress. Please introduce yourself. I'm the Chief Operating Officer at Central Circle Company (CC). Before that, I worked as Director of International Health Relations and Director of Planning with the Ministry of Health. My primary specialism is family medicine.

Tell us about your education. I completed my Bachelors of Medicine & Surgery in 2000, and the board of family medicine in 2008, with appointment as a member of UK's Royal College of General Practitioners. I also undertook a Masters in Healthcare Administration.

What sparked your interest in becoming a doctor? I had a keen interest in medicine as a child, and the ability to treat a person and cure specific ailments is what triggered my passion for medicine. I was also an academically inclined child, with a natural competitive edge and flair. So medicine seemed a natural career path. Today, medicine is advancing at unimaginable speed, the incorporation of artificial intelligence is what interests me today: this hybrid model of medicine fascinates me.

Who were your role models who inspired you to go into family medicine? 26

My mother inspired me. During the Iraqi invasion of 1990, my father was taken hostage by Iraqi soldiers, and my mother was forced to manage alone, navigating uncertainty and standing tall in the face of adversity. My mother is an educated woman, who despite her fears, took care of our physical and psychological wellbeing. She was strong and fearless. I associated the same values with medicine, and these early childhood experiences solidified my interest in medicine. It was an opportunity to connect with people via treatment, something that continues to resonate with me today.

What piqued your interest in becoming active with various state projects related to healthcare.? Also please share some of the projects you were part of? When I qualified as a family physician in the Ministry of Health - State of Kuwait, I observed that follow up care for chronically ill patients was somewhat missing in the primary care centre I worked in. I proceeded to make a chronic care register, this was a system that triggered follow up care and ensured chronically ill patients were well looked after, ensuring that such patients were taking the correct medicine and being prescribed alternative treatments, to better manage their respective conditions. This register continues to be used today. I am proud of this

initiative as it captures the spirit of medicine, i.e. to care for a patient and ensure their aftercare is equally as well maintained. It was then that I felt the impact I had as a physician was somewhat limited. I wanted to create a bigger impact, and be part of the planning and policymaking, and this was when I decided to take an administrative role. It opened the door for me to be part of nationwide projects like â&#x20AC;&#x153;the Taqabal initiativeâ&#x20AC;?. I was part of the team that created it, the same was focused on mental health awareness, in collaboration with a local NGO. I was adamant about promoting and making a success of the initiative, specifically, as I wanted to do more than merely attending patients in a clinic. It was an opportunity to cast the net far and wide, addressing an issue that is less discussed. The campaign was a roaring success in Kuwait and continues to be implemented today. I also had the chance to play a role in healthcare diplomacy and worked with international health organizations and embassies of foreign countries in Kuwait on many health-related initiatives. In my last post in the Ministry of Health, I worked closely with the supreme council of planning on the healthcare part of the national development plan, and it is then, I decided to move to the private sector. This was because I could see the healthcare sector changing in a few years, and the private sector will have a more significant role to play.

Why do you think strong healthcare can be an important pillar in developing the economy? Healthcare is a fundamental human right and pillar of any society, primarily as we are all prone to illness. Appropriate healthcare and management are vital for the long-term health of the people working in the economy. The healthier the person, the more robust the economy. Equally, with the correct planning, medicine can act as a sound preventative measure, tackling and limiting the long-term impact of various diseases. Looking at things from an economic and healthcare planning perspective, it is better to keep the population healthy using prevention than treat them for illness.

The main component of CC’s success is the company’s ability to bridge the gap between the principal and end-user, facilitating a seamless service which adds to fortify CC’s standing as the leading medical distributor within Kuwait. CC has also been awarded a significant number of projects that relate to Kuwait’s long-term health care development plans and is now considered one of the top two medical distributors of choice by the Ministry of Health in Kuwait. In essence, this has been CC’s biggest achievement to date. In short, CC is a robust and resilient company, and despite ongoing global economic instability. The management is committed to breaking down barriers to make medical treatment accessible to all.

What is the most challenging thing about being a Chief Operating Officer as a female? I believe the most challenging role as COO at CC is balancing the needs and expectations of the upper management and staff. I am fortunate that my gender has not hindered my position in the company, but I find implementing change can be met with resistance. This is inevitable as a stagnant system represents comfort; change is often associated with an overwhelming sense of resistance. However, since the inception of my appointment as COO, my suggested ideas and progressive approach to change and advance have been met in a very positive manner by all company members. I also take this opportunity to stress that being a woman should not hinder your ambition, if you believe you have the skills, then

grab the bull by the horns and avail any opportunity for growth. I am fortunate my family supported my decision to take up the position of COO. My husband, children and close colleges encouraged me to strive and be ambitious, and I am grateful. The support is what continues to encourage me, to continue to work harder and dream bigger. Notwithstanding the above, senior management posts such as COO are dominated by men. I feel privileged and determined to break stereotypes to inspire women and prove that women can attend to such positions with meticulous care and attention.

From a leadership standpoint, where do you draw your inspiration? From my mother: she was a strong and independent woman who knew her worth. She encouraged me to pursue medicine and believed in me, more than I did in myself. She was and continues to be a pillar of support in my life for which I am grateful. I hope to inspire my children and every woman I interact with. Anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.

How do you balance work and family life? Life is a balancing act; balancing work and family life is challenging, but not impossible. I have a wonderful husband, he is supportive and works with me, we work as a team, and ultimately, with the right support, anything is possible. I am also the mother of two teenagers, both can be a handful at times, but they are equally supportive, often giving me insight into how I can better myself as a mother and business professional.

What challenges have you experienced as a woman in business during your overall career? As a woman, I believe we are at times viewed as less able, that is perhaps the biggest challenge we face. The requirement to prove yourself and your worth. However, this is not set in stone, persistence and perseverance pay dividends; you can reach the top, just believe in yourself and know your worth.

What are some of your hobbies? How do you keep yourself updated? I am an avid reader; I enjoy reading medical journals, articles relating to management, economy, technology, the news and the odd glossy magazine. I believe you should maintain a balance. Work and personal life balance are fundamental, to create peace of mind and allow for one to excel in both. The skill to perfect the balancing of both remains ongoing, but one must persevere.

What according to you, are your keys to success? To work, to be meticulous and to ask questions. One must appreciate that you cannot be a master of any given discipline; you remain a disciple that continues to learn and grow. I also believe the battle with the ego remains ongoing; one must always be open to learning and growing, learning from your seniors and subordinates is a continuous process. I believe discovering your purpose in life is essential, while it's a unique journey for us all; the quest to search for such purpose will allow you to find several unique treasures in life. Finally, life is full of success and failure. Failures are humbling experiences and opportunities to learn and better oneself.

If you could recommend one book to managers, which would it be and why? I cannot recommend a specific book. While I am an avid reader, for me, management is very much a hands-on experience. You are at times are forced to think on your feet, to follow your gut and to use your work and life experience to resolve a complex problem best. The alchemy to the perfect manager is unknown; it is trial and error. One you will learn to master with time.

How do you wind down when youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re not working? I enjoy exercising, specifically pilates, good food, travelling and reading. I believe in hard work, but equally, one should disconnect as it is vital for your mental wellbeing, ensuring success and longevity in the workplace and personal life.

I enjoy travel; it is the best opportunity to connect with people from across the globe, it allows you to engage with people from different cultures, to be exposed to different language and above all, to see a different part of the world. Equally, language fascinates me; it allows you to connect with people at a deeper level and tests your mental aptitude and patience.

Tell us more about the event that you intend to plan to celebrate International Womenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Day. During my time at CC, I have worked with many talented women. The afternoon tea session is an opportunity to engage and open dialogue with all the women at CC, and more importantly, for them to feel appreciated and to enjoy some desserts with coffee. A chit chat in a relaxed environment is the best opportunity to get to know the women at the company and for them to get to know me.

Your message for women on the International Women month. Believe in yourself, be ambitious and above all, know your worth.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? During my time at the Ministry, I was fortunate to be mentored by a brilliant woman, Dr Majda Al Qattan, former assistant undersecretary for Public Health, Ministry of Health. Dr Al Qattan always emphasized that as an individual grows and starts to touch the upper echelons of his/her respective career, one should always aim to elevate the associated persons who contributed to such success, i.e. to grow and progress your team, to make it inclusive and to grow as a collective, for divided it is discord and united, we are strong. ost people assume that the future, our lives and the world will remain as is and provide us with durable comfort. But in contrast to this comfort humanity is facing challenges millions of people try to tackle each day. We have come so far not by sheer luck but out of knowledge, hard work and continuous progress and to face these challenges we must pass on this mentality onto our children. It’s every parent’s hope that his or her child will do better and go further than he or she has. The way to broaden our children’s capabilities is to hand them the floor to grow as opposed to moulding them which is essential during the first years of their lives. During a child’s first five years of life his brain develops the most. The conditions during childhood, choices made and diversifying activities and talents crucially affects children’s position and capabilities as adults and have great societal impacts Children develop a sense of belonging to people to help them understand their rights and responsibilities in active participation. By raising a child we should tailor to each child’s need differently. They should be encouraged to express openly and put their views at the heart of conversations for they are capable of contributing thoughtful opinions. They can be guided on the right path by observation, using the art of communication and joining into everyday activities. Development encompasses the ability to learn mental, social, emotional, behavioral and communication skills which depends on a child’s relationships early on in life. They are all linked and dependant on each other. Relationships are important because they are the means to which your child sees the world around them. Learning behavior by example teaches safety, security, love and consequences of action. As they grow, you allow your child to comprehend how the world works by

letting them try things on their own, even if it means making mistakes which is part of learning. A child needs plenty of of opportunity for active play, inside and outside. If you are active your child will follow your lead. Lack of interaction with their environment leads to negative health effects and slows physical development. Exploration of nature leads to discovery of animals, plants, seasons and weather. Sports help with making friends, team working, playing fair, strengthening self-esteem and having fun which are all great qualities to carry onto adult life. Reading exposure at an early age exercises brain activity by enhancing concentration and literary skills. It gives an understanding about the world and everyday life. It builds empathy towards the characters and bonds with those they are reading with. Engagement in music enhances a child’s perception when provided with a positive, rewarding, learning experience which lasts a lifetime and is worth the investment. It improves numerous skills, creating a sense of responsibility, perseverance and discipline. Music stimulates brain waves that generate motivation and emotions which is why it is used in children’s songs to ease them into new transitions. Children exposed to diversity at a young age are more receptive to foreigners for they will be more comfortable with difference in race, religion and lifestyle. This allows the opportunity to interact with others that look and speak in a way they aren’t familiar with. As this becomes the norm it increases children’s tolerance and open-mindedness for others. They will incorporate this attitude into adulthood which is a factor to success. Give your child the opportunity to learn and grow as young as possible. Allow them the chance to develop different skills and expose them to different cultural experiences. As you do so, their world views will surely broaden. The future lies within the young.

t has been 15 years since the characters of Mike Lowrey ( Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) were welcomed by audiences worldwide back in 1995 in the first film of the Bad Boys Franchise. Injection of the typical buddy cop humor that was largely established by the previous king of buddy cop franchises, Lethal Weapon, but with Bad Boys they amped up the action and heavily banked on the rising star of Will Smith. Given the time that has passed for these characters and for the actors themselves, it would be easy to go down many clichés of growing old and retirement. Of course the film does walk those lines often, it does however offer fresh life into what I think is a stroke of genius in setting up the franchise to extend beyond just a trilogy. With that being said this film gets it right, and therefore this is a Writing a Movie ‘RIGHT’ review. Here comes the spoilers. Marcus is overjoyed and in tears at the birth of his first grandson and shortly afterwards decides to retire much to the dismay of Mike. At a party to celebrate him becoming a grandfather, he and Mike have a friendly foot race to determine if Marcus can retire or not. Yet the race is abruptly ended short when a assassin on a motorcycle guns down Mike in the streets. The film montages the ER scenes and bedside recovery scenes quite well before transitioning to present day wedding party where Marcus has announced his retirement. Against the orders of his Captain, Mike proceeds to conduct his own investigation into who tried to kill

him. Eventually Mike has to be assigned as a consultant to the AMMO (Advanced Miami Metro Operations) division task force who is officially investigating the crime. This task force is a very young and tech driven group that is headed up by a former old flame of Mike’s which complicates matters a bit. As they track down clues and leads, Mike crosses paths with the assassin and during their fight they lock eyes and this si where the first clue to the killers identify comes to be foreshadowed. Now that is all I will spoil for the film’s plot, but must say it is quite refreshing to see some steps in a direction I didn’t expect for this franchise. The humor is well written and audiences will respond quite favorably to this film. I thought about what scenes could have been written better or any plot holes left by the writers and I simply cannot find anything significant enough to warrant a rewrite or improvement. I always maintain that comedy is the hardest thing to write, and in this film as with other films in the franchise the humor always seems to fit the scenes. Honestly it is Martin Lawrence who carries the majority of the humor in these films and he does so with ease. The jokes are repeated a few times, but instead of feeling tired or boring they actually heighten the scenes later in the film. The ending of the film leaves the audiences with a glimmer of what possibilities are ahead for this franchise and I must say it is quite exciting to think about. THE 4Cs : The purchase of a diamond must be done taking into consideration the four values of the diamond: CUT A diamond's cut refers to the quality of the tiny surfaces, or facets. A well-cut diamond reflects light internally from one mirror-like facet to another and disperses it through the top of the gem. The facets, known as the crown, culet, table, girdle and pavilion, are arranged with precise, mathematical proportions to maximise a diamond's fire, life and brilliance. The cut, the only element of the 4Cs influenced by the human hand, is often considered the most important. A diamond that has been well cut may be given a higher quality or value than one that is larger or of a better colour. CARAT Carat is a measure of weight, not size. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. The term is derived from the word ‘carob’. Carob seeds were used as a reference for diamond weight in the ancient world. Because larger diamonds are rare, they are more valuable than the equivalent weight in several smaller diamonds. A one carat diamond will generally cost more than two half-carat diamonds, assuming all other qualities are equal. COLOUR White or colourless diamonds actually occur in a range of shades – from truly colourless to off-white. They are graded on a colour scale from D (colourless) to Z. The differences between one shade and the next are very subtle, so grading is done under controlled lighting, using a master diamond sample set for comparison and accuracy. Natural diamonds also occur in shades of blue, green, yellow-orange, pink, red and even black. Known as 'coloured fancies', these gems are extremely rare and valuable. They are graded according to the intensity of their colour. CLARITY Clarity refers to how many ‘inclusions’ there are in a diamond. These inclusions are naturally occurring features – wisps of minerals, uncrystallised carbon, tiny fractures – formed deep within the diamond when it was created. Though usually invisible to the naked eye, they can influence the way light is reflected and refracted. A gemmologist will examine a diamond under 10x magnification before assigning a clarity grade from F (Flawless) to I (Included). The grade may also indicate whether the inclusion is near the centre of the stone or along its girdle, or outer edge.

Since when you started designing your abayas? I started a year ago. The idea of starting my own line of business was something that I wanted to do for quite some time. By living in Saudi with full understanding of the femalesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; day to day dress needs, I thought of creating something different that brings change and joy in the designs of the abayas to complement the fashion changes with a new outlook. My hobbies in art and design helped me a lot in deciding the way forward and in creating this new fashion business.

How long does it take to create one abaya? Making abayas looks simple but trust me, lots of work is done to comeup with new designs that capture the eyes. Sometimes I spend weeks matching the best fabric and colors to the season. Most of my abayas are made from imported cotton and linen but I use all kinds of fabric.

Whatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s inspiring you for abaya designing? Inspiration can come from anywhere; family, friends, music, travel and nature, just looking at my surroundings, the colors, textures and tones give me great ideas. Today's abaya designs mostly look the same, my inspiration comes from interacting with people. People know how abayas should look, fit and feel like but with creativity and joy I made things possible.

World premiere: The new Porsche 911 Turbo S

Porsche presents the new generation 911 Turbo S featuring unprecedented power, driving dynamics and comfort. Available in Coupé and Cabriolet form, the latest version of the two-door sports car delivers 650 hp (478 kW). A new 3.8-litre boxer engine with two VTG turbochargers is the beating heart of the car and delivers 70 hp (51 kW) more than its predecessor. The maximum torque now reaches 800 Nm (an increase of 50 Nm). The Turbo-specific eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) cuts the sprint from zero to 100 km/h to 2.7 seconds (a decrease of 0.2 seconds), while the top speed is unchanged at 330 km/h. The dimensions of the 911 Turbo S have increased significantly in line with its enhanced driving dynamics. The body is now 45 mm wider above the front axle at a total width of 1,840 mm and 20mm wider above the rear axle, bringing the overall width here to 1,900 mm. Modified track widths, further developed aerodynamics, and the new mixed-size tyres contribute to its agility and sportiness. The adaptive aerodynamics now include controlled cooling air flaps at the front and a larger rear wing designed to produce even more downforce. For the first time, the 911 Turbo S transfers its power to the road with tyres in two different sizes: 20-inch tyres at the front and 21inch tyres at the rear. New equipment options underline the much sportier image of the all-wheel drive 911. These include the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports chassis that has been lowered by 10 mm and the sports exhaust system with adjustable flaps that guarantees a distinctive sound. The new engine of the 911 Turbo S is based on the 911 Carrera engine generation. It features a completely redesigned charge air cooling system and new, larger variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers in a symmetrical layout with electrically adjustable wastegate flaps. It also uses piezo injectors which have significantly improved the vehicle’s characteristics with regard to responsiveness, power, torque, emissions and revving ability.

The new six-cylinder engine is now aspirated by four intakes with a larger overall cross-section and lower resistance, enhancing the overall engine efficiency. Two symmetrical turbochargers with variable turbine geometry (VTG) and larger dimensions replace the previous identical parts, with the compressor and turbine wheels now rotating in opposite directions. The harmonious design is ideally suited for everyday use on the road as well as the racetrack. The leap in performance of this new generation is particularly noticeable in the model’s sprint from zero to 200 km/h. At 8.9 seconds, the new 911 Turbo S is one second quicker than its predecessor. Thanks to the enhanced Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive, significantly more torque can be transferred, with up to 500 Nm being transmitted to the front wheels. As part of the new standard PASM chassis, faster and more precisely controlled dampers provide significant advantages to the driving dynamics with respect to roll stability, road holding, steering behaviour and cornering speeds. The new front end, with its wider air intakes, has a characteristic Turbo-look and includes dual front light modules as well as standard LED matrix headlights with dark inserts. A redesigned, pneumatically extendable front spoiler and larger rear wing deliver 15 per cent more downforce. The sleek body of the 911 Turbo S is emphasised by its muscular rear wing sections with integrated air intakes. This new look of the rear is completed by rectangular tailpipes in high-gloss Black.
