Welcome to My Wyn, the small boutique cellar in Franschhoek where I specialise in handcrafting a variety of rare wines. I use traditional methods of wine making such as using a 200 hundred year old hand operated crusher and a basket press. Red wines are fermented in open oak vats while it is meticulously punched down by hand several times a day and during the night to ensure gentle but thorough extraction of colour and tannins.

All my wines (red and white) are matured in oak barrels, even the base wine for the sparkling wine which is made according to the ancient methods used in Champaign. Filling bottles, inserting corks and sticking on labels are all manual tasks. The final touch is dipping every single bottle neck in wax... This process allows the production of very limited numbers of bottles – in most instances not more than 800 bottles of a single label, too little to be made available in the normal trade for wine. Total production of eleven different wines is only 7 500 bottles per year. For this reason my wine is treasured by a select few all over the world who are fortunate enough to have discovered it (most likely received as a gift). Wine is either sold at cellar door where it can also be tasted while guests can enjoy the most spectacular view over the Franschhoek valley. Door to door deliveries in Europe can also be arranged by my distributors in Germany or Switzerland. The following wines are available in single packs, twin packs or cases (as well as mixed) • My Wyn Sauviognier – an interesting blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Semillon and a dash of Colombar. • My Wyn Viognier – always a challenge to make, if you like spicy Portugese food, this is the wine. • My Wyn Shiraz – my first wine made from this same vineyard 11 years ago, a very feminine style of shiraz, black fruit flavours, a hint of spice. • My Wyn Cabernet Franc – my favourite grape to eat in the vineyard, in the bottle, showing off real varietal character. • My Wyn Petit Verdot – very interesting wine, showing off its uniquie cultivar flavours. Compliments Springbok, wild boar, slow cooking potjie, a real winter warmer. • My Robyn – a ruby port made from Shiraz, light the fire, enjoy a glass, unwind. Also good with an after dinner cheese platter. • My Amber – the only white port in South Africa, made from Viognier. Fortified with 3 year old potstill brandy.
