ACADEMIC PRE-REGISTRATION CHECKLIST
1) Always have the following documentation ready, and submit electronically, on request: a) Letter of acceptance (first-year and first-time registering students only) – available from www.cput.ac.za/study/track; b) Proof of payments (or proof of sponsorship letter); c) Proof of school leaving results/ Grade 12 equivalence such as National Senior
Certificate (NSC); National Certificate (Vocational) (NCV); international results; and d) Any other qualifications obtained.
2) Students will be only able to register if the status reflects: “ACCEPTED/
ACCEPTED ON FINAL RESULTS” You will not be able to register if your status reflects other statuses such as “Waiting List”, “Rejected”, “Course Full”,
“Provisional Acceptance” or any “Incomplete” related statuses.
3) Students transferring from another university, including a university of technology:
Please submit your Statement of Results or Academic Record and a letter of good conduct from the other university to the Faculty. If you wish to apply for subject exemption or recognition, you should do so during registration. Please refer to the Exemption Procedure outlined on page 26 in this booklet
4) Online registrations: a) Please take note that you will be given certain dates to register – this is your
WEBR status – allowing you to register online. Without this status, you will not be able to register online at all.
You can register from the Start Date until the End Date, but try to register as soon as possible, as classes may fill up.
How to check this status:
First check these start and end dates if you are having problems registering – if you get the message, “the institution has not permitted the use of this option to you as yet”, this could be because you are trying to register before or after these dates.
If your qualification (programme) is not yet full, then these dates may be extended, so keep checking at: “Academic Registration” > “Registration Restrictions”. Note that there may be more than one date listed (e.g. from previous years, or if registration has been extended), so make sure that you are trying to register between these dates.
Please refer to the faculty contact details at https://www.cput.ac.za/enquiries should you still be unable to register online.
