8.5 Measuring project success Monitoring: Collection of data and information.
A MERI (Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Improvement) framework will be used to assess progress on achieving outcomes of funded projects. This framework embeds adaptive management and establishes a measure of success for a project. The specific MERI framework used for each project will be developed on a case-by-case basis, but will broadly cover the approach described by the Australian Government (http://www.nrm.gov.au/publications/ meri-strategy):
Evaluation: Analysing monitoring data, assessing what it means and making informed judgements about the success of a project (or program) and potential improvements. Reporting: Communicating what was found from monitoring and evaluation. It is about sharing information, including about achievements and lessons learnt. Improvement: Using this information to improve the way things are done.
