LETTER FROM THE EDITOR I am buzzing with all the feels of Summer! Pool season is in full swing, the neighborhood smells of charcoal grills, the giggles of kiddos fill the cul-de-sac and our weekends are filled with barbecues, pool parties and outdoor adventures. As Lily gets older and we move from season to season, we get to experience the joy of all of our favorite things through her eyes. We also are brought back to the little things that gave us joy as children, like splashing in the pool, enjoying a popsicle on the porch, trying a hot dog for the first time and getting dirty in the grass! This season is about family for me and doing the things that bring our family together. For my husband and I, it is about exploring the city as a family of three and for Lily and I, it is getting covered in paint, coloring and exploring her creativity through make believe. For our first issue of Creative Living with Lynn Lilly, I wanted to bring the colors of summer into your home to give you the spark of creativity to enjoy with your family. For this issue and each issue moving forward you will find easy recipes, cocktails, crafts and doit yourself projects for the whole family plus lifestyle articles like my favorite binge-worthy Netflix shows, entertaining tips, product must-haves and more. No matter what you create, I hope you find the magic of summer and share that joy with your family and friends!

SUMMER SCRAPBOOKING LYNN LILLY Craft Box Girls Founder

"I love capturing all of our family adventures with high hopes of creating big beautiful scrapbooks. As a full time working mom that makes crafts for a living, I often don't get a lot of time for personal crafts so creating mini travel journals has been the perfect solution to preserving our family memories! The best part of these pocket photo journals is that I can take them on the road with me and relive the memories when I am away from my family."

LYNN'S TOP 5 SUMMER NETFLIX BINGE-WORTHY SHOWS If you're looking for a break from the summer heat or want to enjoy a night in these are my top favorite shows that I have binged so far this Summer!

When They See Us tells the story of five young boys, who are interrogated and manipulated into confessing to the violent attack of a woman in Central Park in 1989.

In Dead To Me, Jen, a Type-A California mother of two, is recuperating from the recent hit-and-run death of her husband. At a grief support group, she meets Judy, and the two women develop a deep friendship that quickly becomes questionable once Judy's secret is revealed to the audience.

In the Netflix original film, Always Be My Maybe, two childhood friends are reunited after 15 years. While old sparks of attraction arise, Sasha and Marcus begin falling for each other.

Desperate to secure funding for her med tech startup, an idealistic scientist and her husband strike an outrageous deal with a mysterious investor in What If.

When a Horrific murder sends shockwaves through a small town, detective Harry Ambrose hunts for answers that begin unfolding a web of sinister secrets in the Netflix original The Sinner.

EPOXY SEQUIN TRAY MATERIALS Wooden Tray Paper Word Cut Out (optional) Rope (if your tray does not have handles) Ribbon Buttons Galore and More Rainbow Sequin Shaker Mix and Rose Garden Shaker Mix Epoxy Resin (We like Famowood Glaze Coat) Scissors Open Flame or Heat Gun Plastic Cups

BAKERFELUIA.CO

DIY

STEP 1: CUT If you want to add a word, cut from cardstock (we love glitter cardstock). Cut four pieces of ribbon to fit within the tray. STEP 2: ASSEMBLE If your tray does not have handles and you want to be extra, drill holes in the sids of the tray and pull the rope through the holes, secure with a knot. Glue the ribbon to the bottom of the tray. Sprinkle the shaker mix onto the tray. STEP 3: POUR Prepare the epoxy according to the package instructions. Slowly pour a layer of epoxy in the tray. Lightly glide an open flame or heat gun over the surface of the epoxy to remove any bubbles. If you opted for a word place the cardstock into the epoxy. Pour more epoxy to cover the surface of the cardstock. STEP 3: FINISH Lightly glide the flame or heat gun across the surface again to remove bubbles. Let dry for at least 24 hours or according to the manufacturer's instructions.

5 TRAVEL HACKS FOR FAMILIES By: Ellen Lafleche-Christian || confessionsofanover-workedmom.com

These travel hacks will make all the difference on your next family vacation! Summer is the time for family travel. But, getting from point A to point B with the kids isn't as easy as you think. Here are a few of my favorite travel hacks for families that will make the travel party of your vacation a little bit easier.

1. Stay organized with a shoe organizer Did you think that shoe organizers were just for shoes? They make a great way to organize your child's toys, sippy cup, crayons, snacks, wet wipes, and pacifiers. They hang easily over the back seat in a car, airplane, or train. Just unroll it once you board and keep everything within arms reach. Choose a clear shoe organizer to make it easier to see.

2. Dress everyone in layers You never know what the temperature will be like when you land. And, to make travel even more complicated, you never know who will get cold on the airplane. If you dress everyone in layers, you can take off or add layers when temperatures change rather than changing your entire outfit. Or, if you're traveling with small children and they make a mess on their shirt, it's easy to just take off a layer to reveal the clean shirt underneath.

3.

Keep cords and chargers handy

Don't lose your charging cords, chargers, and earbuds in the bottom of your bag or carry-on. Store everyone's tech cords in an eyeglass case. This will keep the wires from getting tangled and make them much easier to find.

4. Keep dirty shows away from clothes If you need to pack your shoes back in your suitcase but are worrying about the dirty soles making a mess, no problem, just place your shoes in a clear shower cap sole side down. The cap will keep your shoes from making a mess in your suitcase.

5. DIY I Spy Game Nothing is worse than children that are bored. You can make your own I Spy Game with an empty plastic soda bottle, epsom salt, and a variety of plastic toys, trinkets, beads, and charms. Just seal the top with duct tape so they cannot get it off and make a mess.

5 TIPS FOR SUMMER ENTERTAINING By: Jessica Watt || jessicawatt.com

The long warm days of summer are the perfect time to kick back, relax and invite friends over for a night of entertaining under the stars. With a little planning and these simple tips, you can put together an evening that you, as the host, can enjoy just as much as your friends. Here are a few tips to help you throw the perfect, stress free summer get together.

A drink station is a must for any party and my absolute favorite addition to any get together. I purchased a bar cart that I use to transition through seasons and holidays. It is totally functional and gives you another fun area to decorate. You can never have too many kinds of drinks during the summer so I like to keep my bar cart stocked full of flavored waters, lemonade, iced tea and fruity sangria. To keep our drinks bug-free, I place a cute cupcake liner over the cups and stick a paper straw through the middle of the liner. Orange slices work, too. Add a burst of color to your drink station! I like to keep my kiddos happy too with a wagon full of ice and juice boxes they can grab as needed.

Nothing will make your guests run inside faster than an evening filled with mosquitos. They can totally ruin a good time, so having a basket filled with bug spay will help your party stay bug and itch free. I like to keep mine, along with sunscreen (if you are entertaining during the day), in a cute basket where all of my guests can see it and feel free to use as needed. Citronella candles also help keep those party crashers away, while adding some fun ambiance to your party.

Serving food in large apothecary jars not only looks beautiful on your table, but they also keep your foods bug-free. Apothecary jars are perfect for fruit salads, pasta salads, and green salads. Attach a cute label to let guests know what is in each jar. Filling mason jars for individual servings is another fun way for guests to grab their food easily, kick their flip flops and relax. Who doesn't love eating out of a mason jar?

One of the best parts of summer is being outside, so meals that don't keep you away from your guests are the best and summer is all about grilling anyway! Small kabobs of chicken in your favorite marinade and grilled colorful veggies are the perfect entree in addition to your salads. Your guests can just grab a skewer or two along with their salads and you can spend more time enjoying their company instead of worrying about being in the kitchen. Yummy food and enjoying your guests is a win-win!

Friends circled around a campfire is the perfect way to end the day and you cannot have a campfire without s'mores. Don't have a fire pit? Sterno canned hat does the job just as well. Fill a large tray with your favorite s'mores must-haves. Marshmallows already skewered, chocolate bars, crackers, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cups, caramels, and whatever else you like on your s'mores. Having everything out of its packaging will let your guests serve themselves easily. Make sure you have paper towels and wipes nearby for sticky fingers!

Relaxing and making memories is what summer is all about. Surround yourself with friends, cold drinks, a good meal, and enjoy the moment!
