His Heliotrope by Cindy Evans

The heliotrope plant grows in one-sided clusters that follow the sun—that is, its blossoms turn towards the sun. (From Better Homes and Gardens and the Merriam Webster dictionary.)

Lord, let me be a heliotrope,

following the Son.

Lord, let me grow in you,

until my time has come.

Like the plant following the light,

let me follow You and burn bright.

Plant me in your Word

and may I always move Sonward.

Cindy J. Evans is a published poet living in the greater Atlanta area and sunny south. She enjoys serving at a faith-based hospice agency, prayer walks, and date nights with her husband, most recently at a Christian movie.
