Love One Another ... by Karen Ruhl
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:7-10 (NJKV)
Have you ever met someone who just seems to shine from within? Someone whom you want to be around? Do you wonder what that person knows that you don’t?
The answer is simple; they know Jesus. That person is not the source of the light, they are merely reflecting the light. Jesus is the true light. He shows us how to walk along the right path to God.
What can we do to learn how to reflect His light?
First, we have to receive Christ Jesus as our Savior and begin to change our lives to be the person He wants us to be. Pray, receive Christ as your Savior, and repent. We can also reflect the light of Christ by doing:
1. Love and pray for our families, friends, those we work with, and our neighbors
2. Share Jesus in our communities
3. Serve those in our communities
4. Promote peace
5. Care for the environment
6. Be a good example to those around you
7. Stand up for social justice
Darkness will never overcome God’s light. 1 John 1:5 (NKJV) says, “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
That special person who seems to shine, they have a relationship with our Savior. They have learned to trust in God’s word, pray, share, and love.
They know John 3:16 by heart:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJV)
Are you ready to reflect the love of Christ? I know I will work on it every day of my life. I am praying for all who read this. May you too be a reflection His light.
