‘Un petit-déjeuner français’ at St Teresa’s
31st January 2020 Dear Parents As you can see from the photo above, our pupils had a marvellous time when they joined pupils at St Teresa’s for a rather special breakfast. This edition has plenty of news regarding recent events for both music and sport. I particularly enjoyed the performances of our younger musicians at the Junior Assembly on Wednesday. Of course, they are the ones who will progress to be the backbone of our choirs and music ensembles in the years ahead. I also really enjoyed the rugby which we hosted last Saturday. I know from comments received that visiting teams, and their supporters, are always impressed with the Cranmore set-up which is a great tribute to all our staff involved—grounds, catering, and the coaches. I might add that I was most impressed by the high standard of sportsmanship from both the home and visiting teams, a great advert for rugby. Yours sincerely, Michael Connolly

Junior News Reception had a wonderful time over at Forest School this week. Half of them explored the mud kitchen, digging out drenches and changing the flow of water. The other half went on a scavenger hunt. They picked our favourite fallen treasures and brought them back to school to label them, using their knowledge of phonics!
Junior News Year 2 started their topic on mass today in Maths. The children were estimating and measuring the mass of different classroom objects. They took readings from the scales carefully.
Year 3 were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to watch a performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the New Wimbledon Theatre last Wednesday. The performance was brilliant and enjoyed by all the children. The staff particularly enjoyed it, as they remembered all the songs!
Junior News Year 2 learn about World War 2 2JC have loved presenting their own projects about a relative or important person of their choice in WW2. The children made presentations, videos or posters and shared their research with the class. We have learnt about the many different roles people had in the war: the land army, code breakers and air raid wardens, as well as the soldiers.
Year 2 have been enjoying their World War 2 role play area. Charles tried on naval uniform which belonged to Miss Freeman’s Great Uncle who served from a base in Chatham during World War 2.
Junior News Bread-making in Year 3
It was Form 3CS’s turn to make bread dough with the new Cranmore chefs. They embraced the task and made some of the best, most aerated dough chef had ever seen. It even started bursting out of the containers because it had risen so much! They took their dough home and followed the cooking instructions to make either a pizza base, rolls or a loaf.
Here are pictures of them making the dough at school and some of the delicious results at home.
Senior News Un petit déjeuner français Year 5 children at Cranmore and St Teresa’s were treated to ‘un petit déjeuner français’ on Tuesday. They sampled ‘le chocolat chaud’, ‘des viennoiseries’ and ‘des tartines’. C’était délicieux!
Senior News Year 4 are currently undertaking a Binca Square sewing project. All the pupils are enjoying this and are learning a number of different stitches, including running stitch, cross stitch, fern and chevron stitches.

In terms of Cranmore sport over the last week, our U8s Netball teams were in action last Friday against City of London Freeman's. The Year 3 girls have already proven how strong they are with their hockey, but the netball performances against CLFS were their best yet. Superb passing and clinical shooting resulted in two great wins for the teams. It's great to see the hard work from the players as well as Mrs Attree, Miss Freeman and Miss Moore paying off.
Rugby matches took place across Years 4 to 8 over the last week against schools including King's House, Hall Grove, Downsend, Danes Hill, and KCJS. There was a fantastic Saturday morning of sport with no fewer than eleven U10 rugby matches taking place on the Henderson Fields. On Thursday, our U11s played against Rokeby in the start of The Murray Cup, a competition held annually between the two schools. Cranmore have got off to a great start with three wins out of four, leaving another 12 matches to go across all Senior School age groups. Mr Hodgson, Director of Sport
