SIXTH FORM NEWS
As this is my first bulletin entry, I want to start by saying thank you for this opportunity to give back to the school using my time and ideas.
My first week as Head girl has started off with a bang. The handover meeting from our previous head and deputy girls was very informative and welcoming to the role, making us as a new team feel encouraged for undertaking the tasks that lie ahead.
Our first prefect meeting took place this morning, where we all had the opportunity to share and improve our aims as both a whole prefect body and as individuals leaders. I felt that this was a great first bonding experience because it resulted in us cheering for each other when a good, achievable aim was shared by a fellow peer. I loved the camaraderie that budded from this meeting, and look forward to seeing what it develops into over the next year.
Otherwise, we have already started planning ideas to improve the school for our fellow pupils, and look forward to seeing these visions come to life!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

ONE OCEAN WORKSHOP
Recently, we have had some employees from KBR come in to speak to us about sustainably managing our plastic consumption.
Over previous weeks, we have learnt about how microplastics are formed and why they are so damaging to the environment (particularly the oceans), as well as easy ways that we can help to reduce the production of them (such as buying sustainable clothing and washing our clothes fewer times).
We also learnt about the different types of recycling processes, which I found very interesting because I had never heard of them before!
JAZZ EVENING
Accompanied by a professional jazz ensemble, our talented performers fromYear 7 to 13 embraced the genre of jazz on Tuesday evening. It was certainly an evening to remember!

We loved how busy we were during the half term and want to say a big thank you to the staff, instructors and volunteers who helped out! We had a lot of fun, and we hope that you did too!
If you missed out on your chance to join us over the half term, have a look at what dates are available over the Easter Holidays. Also keep an eye out on the booking system for when we have cancelled lessons during the week. The spaces are being published for anyone to book in.
Temperatures have dropped (again!), so please make sure that your child comes to ride with enough layers and waterproofs. We do have some coats and gloves on hand that can be borrowed, however we are limited in sizes. In the cold weather it can be useful to wear tights or leggings underneath jodhpurs/trousers, the sports skins as a base layer and wearing enough coats on top. Our staff will be encouraging all riders to wear gloves, but if you have your own please make sure to bring it with you.
Holidays Activities 2024
We have released our holiday activities on our online booking system for the rest of the academic year!
Easter Holidays, May Half Term and Summer Holidays
We will be running a variety of Pony Mornings, Pony Afternoons, Private Lessons, Lunge Lessons, Day Camps and a few others.
They are all on the EcPro system and you can book a place now!
This Week
Ash Wednesday fell during half-term, so to mark the beginning of the season of Lent, we had our service this week. For many, our first reaction when we hear Lent is to ask, ‘What are you giving up?’ with the usual answer being sweets, chocolate, cake and other treats. This is often the way we introduce the idea to young children, but perhaps, as we grow, our understanding of Lent should also grow.
During Lent we are asked to do three things, to pray and to give. We were encouraged to reflect with deep honesty about three possible areas of our lives where we could focus our hearts and minds this Lent.
We thought about relationships. Why not focus this Lent on mending a damaged or broken relationship. Make the decision to fast from those behaviours that have brought about the damage. We can never do this on our own, so in prayer ask God’s help to transform the situation. Finally, reach out in charity and work positively with determination to do all we can to mend and heal the relationship.
We thought about habits. Why not focus this Lent on changing one of those habits that we have slipped into that we know are not good for us. Make the decision to from that habit, perhaps replacing it with something more life-giving. Again, in prayer, as God to strengthen us to make the change. Finally, take action to build a new habit to ensure the old habit is replaced forever.
We thought about attitudes. Why not focus on those unhelpful prejudices and unjust judgements that we can all to easily make. Make the decision to recognise them when they appear and to stop them in their tracks. Once again, in prayer, as God’s support to remove the temptation of those thoughts from our minds. Finally, cultivate new lifegiving attitudes towards others and decide on ways to live them out in our day to day lives.
Very few of us, if we are truly honest, will struggle to find relationships, habits or attitudes that need changing in our lives. By focusing in this way we can make sure that we use this season of Lent to leave behind that which hinders us, and to work towards becoming the people we are called to be. Have a good Lent!
