MEDSOC
This week in Med Soc, we had an amazing talk given to us by our school nurses. Nurse Sarah spoke to us on how she went down the route of neuroscience nursing. She explained her passion for helping children with hydrocephalus, which is a neurological disorder caused by an abnormal build up of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles deep within the brain. Nurse Katie also came to speak to us and told us how she went down the neonatal route, where she cared for babies who were sick or premature. She said that after a certain period of time certain babies would thrive better in a home environment rather than staying in the hospital, this would also allow the baby and mother to make a bond earlier on. The smallest baby she sent home was only 1.4kg.
