YEAR 7 RESIDENTIAL TRIP
One of the five activities that the Year 7s took part in was the Crate Challenge; this activity was overall thoroughly enjoyed. This activity took lots of teamwork, and everyone had to help one another. This was when you and your partner would stand on two crates that increasingly get higher and higher. You had to balance with your partner until eventually you fell down.
All Aboard was a fun, but a bit of a nerve-racking activity. This consisted of a team of 3 or 4 people, climbing up a slim pole to reach the top of a wooden square, as big as a large pizza box. Holding onto each other, you tried to balance until someone fell! During this activity, you needed to use teamwork and positivity to help your teammates! It was hilarious to see everyone's reactions!
Indy Bridge was a high rope activity. During this adventure, you would climb up staples and go through obstacles to get to the top, which felt like accomplishment. We even timed ourselves, some even getting 17 seconds, beating the instructor's previous records.
The zipwire is a well-known experience. You might think you have been on a regular zip-wire, in a playground or park; but this zipwire really went above and beyond, travelling 100 metre in total. Everyone loved it!
Scrambling was like rock-climbing, down a mud slide. The instructors told us how millions of years ago, the rocks were under water. We could see the holes where previous animals have made homes. Now sand wasps come and nest in these little holes.
Overall, the activities were out of this world!
Later in the evening, after we had dinner, we all got cosy in our pyjamas and walked through the forest towards the campfire. We held a talent show, with Mr Breeze as Simon Cowell, Mr Andrews as Louis Walsh and Mr Neate as Cheryl Cole. What a great time! We had rappers, beatboxers, singers, actors, and even basketball players. We sang many songs such as 'Bongoloo' and 'Mr Worm'. The campfire was thoroughly enjoyed. After that we all went to bed, but only slept when the teachers had evacuated spiders from sleeping bags.
Overall, this trip will be remembered and everyone enjoyed it so much. We look forward to future trips like these. Remember, 'Hey you, Hey you, Show me how you Bongaloo!'
