This Week

In our scripture reading this week (Matthew 13:45 46), Jesus uses the metaphor of treasure and pearls. Those who find the treasure set aside everything else in their lives to pursue the greatest treasure. Often in our lives we can become obsessed with false treasure, those things that occupy us and eat up our time and our energy to the exclusion of everything else. Only later, as we look back, do we come to realise that what we esteemed so highly is actually of little or no worth at all.

Our world prizes these types of treasure - wealth, status, reputation, possessions. While it is true that none of these things are inherently wrong in themselves, they do lead us down a deceptive backwater that ultimately leads us to placing ourselves at the centre of our universe to the exclusion of all others.

Jesus’ vision for us and for all humanity is to pursue that which has real, abiding treasure.

The metaphor of a pearl is a beautiful one. Of course, in the first instance, we recognise the natural beauty of a pearl. Yet we have done nothing to produce this beauty. Instead, it is a free gift, much like the grace that, if we choose to recognise it, God pours out on each and every one of us.

But there is more. The production of a pearl is a slow process, gently building up over time, totally hidden from sight, often in the deepest, darkest places, down among the mud. What, we might ask, can come of such a place? Yet, as we know, that pearl is there, ready for each of us to discover and recognise its true value.

As we reflect on those things in life that are true treasures, help us to turn our full attention to these things so that, as Jesus reminds us, we can build up that real treasure in our heavenly home.

We hope that you have had a good week, and are looking forward to the half term.

As the weather has become unpredictable, please make sure your child brings a raincoat for riding if the forecast is showing thick clouds or rain, and if it’s due to be hot then make sure they are wearing a shirt that covers their shoulders. It has been so variable lately that the staff are still bringing all their coats, just in case!

If there are any school trips or events that your daughter will be doing instead of riding, then please let the office know by phone or by email. As, if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit. Any later and we are unable to fill the slot with a rider for a catch up lesson or off the waitlist.

May Half Term

The half term dates are available to book!

Have a look on our online site to book your spaces now!

Bobby and Sid have new saddles which are very nice and fit them well, so they will be more comfortable in their lessons. The riding lessons have gone very well recently with the riders and horses enjoying the warmer weather.

The horse of the week is… Bobby!

We wish you luck in the next competition!
