SIXTH FORM NEWS

Hi all,

Congratulations on finishing exam week! In between getting our results back, the Sixth Form has been busy with continuing lessons and planning for some exciting and upcoming events.

On Monday, our Careers lesson featured a talk by a criminal psychologist, called Hannah Stone. She gave us information on her A-level and University experiences and the various paths she has taken within the psychology sector. These include working in prisons providing risk assessments for prisoners up for probation, working in wards as a health nurse and working as a health psychologist.

As is customary for this time of year, Year 12 have also been attending various open days for universities they are considering attending.

The Events Committee also announced their Survival Party for Year 12 to celebrate the end of the year, which we are all looking forward to! The Head Girl Team have also been working closely with the Senior Prefects to bring Values Week to you next week. There are lots of exciting things to come so keep an eye out!

Enjoy a restful weekend, Amelia (Deputy Head Girl)

EQUESTRIAN SUCCESS

The Equestrian Centre has been busy with two major events!

At the NESA qualifiers held on Monday, three of our Show Jumping Teams qualified for the next round in Addington, with our 70cm and 80cm teams coming in second place!

Olivia S also came both 2nd and 3rd in her Individual Show Jumping brackets.

In the 70cm ‘Jumping with Style’, Electra B came second on the fan favourite pony,Monty!

On Sunday, we had two teams coming in 3rd as well as some fantastic individual successes from Amber B and Electra B, who came 1st and 7th respectively!

BOARDING NEWS

We have had a fantastic week filled with exciting activities, creative projects, and wonderful celebrations. Here's a glimpse of what our girls have been up to.

On Saturday, our girls embarked on an exhilarating trip to Gripped, where they enjoyed navigating tree top obstacle courses and soaring through the air on zip lines. The girls had an absolute blast, challenging themselves and cheering each other on throughout the day.

In celebration of National Boarding Week, our students have been engaging in various creative activities. They have designed unique badges for their peers to wear, showcasing their creativity and appreciation for boarding. Additionally, they have been using different mediums to depict their favourite aspects of boarding life on canvases. These beautiful artworks will be displayed in the games room, adding a personal touch to our communal space.

Our girls in Joseph Corridor marked the end of their exams with a delicious hotpot station. They gathered to enjoy wonderful food and each other's company, celebrating their hard work and accomplishments. It was a wonderful way to unwind and bond after the stress of exams.

As many Year 12 and Year 13 exams come to a close, our Magdalen House girls enjoyed a pizza night together, as a token of encouragement for the girls yet to finish.

We look forward to more exciting adventures and bonding moments in the coming weeks in boarding.

ISLE OF WIGHT TRIP

Year 10 had a great time on their trip to the Isle of Wight. Last Friday, they took a private boat to the United Sailing Academy, where they tried paddle boarding and windsurfing. They also enjoyed the beach, skimming stones, and collecting shells. It was a wonderful trip and a well-deserved celebration after all their hard work on their exams.

YEAR 9 TRIP TO LONDON ZOO

Last Friday, Year 9 enjoyed a delightful visit to ZSL London Zoo. Under sunny skies, they had a wonderful day exploring the zoo and observing a variety of fascinating animals. The trip was a well-deserved reward after their exams.

GEOGRAPHY TRIP

Years 7 and 8 enjoyed their Geography trip to Devil’s Dyke. They had some wonderful sunny weather!

VALUES WEEK

For Values Week St T's will be undertaking a sponsored three-legged race for the Value of Faith. Do you have enough faith in a friend to get round our course, as many times as you can during lunchtime, with only three legs between you? All donations will be sent directly to our toilet twinning campaign run by the Head Girl Team. The year group that manages to walk the furthest will receive a prize! For full details and to make a donation, please see our JustGiving page below: https://www.justgiving.com/page/teresa-effingham-1715878085037

Thank you for your support! It will make a huge difference to the lives of girls who might not be able to access education due to a lack of appropriate toilet facilities.

WATCH OUT FOR TICKS!

Please be mindful that we are in tick season and would like to remind the girls to check themselves regularly, particularly after sitting or walking through grassy areas.Ticks can carry Lyme disease.

Please see https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/642bec29fbe620000f17dbbe/Tickawareness-A5-leaflet-April-2023.pdf for more information.

YEAR 7 FLOREAT FESTIVAL

Year 7 pupils have expended a tremendous amount of time and effort becoming experts on a topic of their choice. They have conducted extensive research over recent months and have created some very impressive presentations, along with gathering props and designing their information stalls.

We are delighted to invite you to view the fruits of their labours at our Floreat Festival on Monday 17 June. This will take place for parents in the Sports Hall between 16:15 and 17:00 and will form a vital part of our Values Week celebrations.

You may have noticed that we are now one horse short since the May Half Term. The lovely Roxy has gone home and has moved to a local track livery where she has settled in and is very happy. We are very grateful to Roxy and her owners for being a joy to look after and we will miss seeing her gorgeous face greeting us in the mornings.

It is always sad to say goodbye to one of our beloved four-legged friends, but we know that they cannot stay with us forever and that they have a home to go back to who will love them as much as us.

You can still vote for Roxy and Mr T for Best STE Pony for Prize Giving, the ballot box is in the STE office!

We have the following spaces over the next few weeks due to cancellations:
