SIXTH FORM NEWS

Hi all,

I hope you have had a lovely week. It has been a busy week full of singing and dancing in the sixth form!

Amongst all the festivities of Values Week, Year 12 attended their Higher Education Event on Tuesday and Wednesday. We attended various lectures and workshops in preparation for our UCAS applications. The UCAS process was explained to us, we organised our long and short lists for various courses and universities, and attended seminars on the specific pathways we have chosen (Medicine, Oxbridge, GAP years). On Tuesday, we finished the day off with a Q&A from an alumnae panel and the mentoring scheme was launched, giving current pupils the opportunity to be mentored by past St T’s students at university or in the workplace.

On Wednesday, we attended talks about student finance and how to write a personal statement. We utilised Unifrog to plan and draft our personal statements and then met with our form tutors individually to discuss our applications. We then finished the event off with cookies and iced tea. It was an informative and enjoyable event that will help us greatly next year.

Values Week brought much singing, dancing and three-legged running to the sixth form. Everyday we gathered on Baker Street with the rest of the school to sing our hearts out to the likes of ABBA, Taylor Swift and One Direction. Our very own Maria O and Bella M sang ‘Money, Money Money’ in Latin with Dr Poffley in the busking event on Thursday and collectively the sixth form tried to walk as far as possible with three legs, having faith in our team and ourselves. Each day the Head Girl Team and our Values Prefect spoke in assembly offering their own views and experiences with faith to help encourage others. On Friday, we finished off with a celebration assembly where all the various winners were announced! We hope you enjoyed it.

Have a lovely weekend,

(Deputy Head Girl)

BOARDING NEWS

This week in boarding our girls have been celebrating National Boarding Week and warm summer evenings.

National Boarding week celebrates the benefits and unique aspects of boarding life for pupils, parents and schools. This week we held many activities such as the making of 'I love boarding' badges, stepathon, a boarding trivia night, mindfulness day, thank a houseparent day and a special Friday night BBQ with a projector movie, pizza and an ice-cream truck. These activities showcase pride and gratitude for boarding and celebrate the fun and personal development of our boarders.

Last Saturday night our boarders headed to the movies to watch the new Inside out 2 movie, enjoying snacks and each others company! Our girls, older and younger, all enjoyed this trip out greatly. Our boarders also engaged in a photo hunt competition, scavenging around the school to find and capture iconic St Teresa’s landmarks and buildings. The hunt ended on our green, where the girls enjoyed the sunset and outdoor games. Afternoons this week in boarding have also involved cricket matches, many rounds of UNO and sudokus to wind down.

As part of our focus on gratitude this week, we would like to thank our St Teresa's and boarding community for the continual support and appreciation for boarding.

VALUES WEEK

It’s been non-stop excitement this week as we celebrated this year’s value: Faith. Many activities took place, including Breakeoke, three-legged races, busking, a jelly taste-testing competition, obstacle courses, and much more!

The girls have also been writing messages on ribbons based on the key values of faith, with different themes each day. These were then hung from our chapel for everyone to see.

There’s still time to donate to the Head Girl Team’s toilet twinning project via the Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/teresa-effingham1715878085037

Well done to everyone who organised all the activities, and remember to “Faith it till you make it!”

SEED BOMBS

As part of Values Week, the Eco Council set up a stand for the girls to make seed bombs shaped like doves to represent faith. The seed bombs were made from recycled scrap paper and local wildflower seeds. They will produce beautiful flowers when we plant them around the school.

ECO COUNCIL NEWS

ONE OCEAN TRIP

The Eco Council have been working closely with KBR who have been leading sessions on sustainability and our Ocean environment. They have planned a ‘One Ocean field trip’ to London on Wednesday 26 June. The day will last from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

We would be grateful if you could sign and return the consent form previously emailed out to you to indicate whether you are willing for your daughter to participate in this trip.

FLOREAT FESTIVAL

Year 7 pupils expended a tremendous amount of time and effort becoming experts on a topic of their choice. They conducted extensive research over recent months and created some very impressive presentations, along with gathering props and designing their information stalls which they presented to both pupils and parents this week!

HIGHER EDUCATION

The Sixth Form girls have been participating in Higher Education events over the past few days. They have been looking at further opportunities after St Teresa’s and kick starting the UCAS application process. Additionally, they had some alumnae visit to give talks about their experiences after Sixth Form, providing valuable advice on what to expect when going to university and looking for accommodation.

LITERARY EVENING

As part of Values Week, we hosted a Literary Evening to celebrate the wonderful creative writing talent among our pupils.

The girls all bravely stepped up on stage and read out their work. Some even got creative, getting into character with fun costumes and props.

Well done, girls!

COLOUR RUN

The sun shone on Friday when St Teresa’s and Cranmore joined together for the highly anticipated "Colour Run” organised by FOST and the CPA.

The event was a huge success, with everyone enjoying the chance to get messy and have fun. The atmosphere was electric. Laughter filled the air as the children raced around the course. They scrambled under nets, dodged being doused by water and gleefully splattered each other with paint, leaving a trail of colour in their wake. Precious memories were banked and friendships formed.

The Colour Run was a fantastic way to end the school week and kick off the weekend on a high. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped out.
