SIXTH FORM NEWS
Hi all,
I hope you have had a lovely week. As this half-term comes to a close, here is what the Sixth Form has been up to:
Throughout the week the Sixth Form House Captains have been helping out with the sale of hot chocolate and cookies at break time to raise money for House charity week.
On Tuesday, the final UCAS applications for early entry were sent off. Congratulations to the pupils who have started to get offers back! The other Year 13 pupils have continued with their applications with the help of their Personal Tutors and the Sixth Form Team.
On Wednesday we had a Sixth Form Assembly in our lecture theatre focused on the importance of kindness, especially in challenging times. One member from each form was highlighted for their acts of kindness, and given a special reward as a thank you!
The week concluded with the whole-school Charity Week Fashion Show, with the Sixth Form House Captains leading groups in their creations of an outfit based on the 1920s, using recycled materials. Each group showcased their deigns down the cat-walk for the rest of the school to admire!
Congratulations to all the hard work this half-term; enjoy a restful break!

PSHE PRESENTATIONS
Year 13 Politics students delivered a session on global news to the rest of Year 13, and then Year 12, as part of the PHSE programme.
They created the presentations and chose the stories - from the changing situation for women in Afghanistan, to the US election, to a lost support alligator!
The girls did brilliantly and really enjoyed the preparation and delivery. We were really proud of them!
BOARDING NEWS
Welcome to another fantastic week in boarding! This week, the girls participated in a variety of activities that truly brightened their days.
We kicked off the week with our beloved Hot Chocolate Club on Wednesday evening, where everyone savoured the cozy warmth of their drinks. As the weekend rolled in, we took a delightful trip ice skating! The girls had a blast gliding around and supporting one another as they tried to stay on their feet. It was a wonderful bonding experience, filled with laughter and teamwork.
We also enjoyed a creative cookie decorating evening, where the girls crafted beautiful designs on their tasty treats. We cannot wait to hear all about their adventures during the half term break when they return. From all of us in boarding, we wish everyone a wonderful holiday!
GEOGRAPHY TRIP
Year 9 thoroughly enjoyed their recent Geography trip to Chichester Harbour. The day provided a fantastic opportunity to explore the coastal landscapes they have been studying, with highlights including a scenic boat trip from Itchenor and a visit to West Wittering Beach.
The pupils applied their fieldwork skills in a practical setting, enhancing their understanding of the GCSE Coasts topic. Throughout the day, they showed excellent teamwork and independence while under the remote supervision of staff. It was a valuable and engaging learning experience for all involved.
KEW GARDENSTRIP
Our A-level Art students recently enjoyed a wonderful trip to Kew Gardens, where they gathered first-hand research through sketches and photographs. Surrounded by the beautiful gardens, they had a lovely time exploring nature’s beauty, which will inspire and inform their upcoming projects. We cannot wait to see the incredible work they create in the year ahead!

SENIOR MATHS CHALLENGE
On October 1st , Year 12 and 13 students participated with thousands of other students in the UK and students internationally in the senior mathematics challenge.
The Senior Mathematical Challenge is a 90-minute, 25 multiple-choice questions. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using mathematical techniques to solve challenging problems. The problems are designed to make students think.
Our students produced some excellent results and did themselves and our school proud. A special mention to Candice L, Andrea L and Nico R who achieved gold certificates and have progresses to the
AN INSPECTOR CALLS
Years 10 and 11 enjoyed a fantastic performance of 'An Inspector Calls' by The Globe Players in Mairlot Hall. They brought the characters to life as we were immersed into the world of the Birlings in Edwardian England in this fast paced production. The superb characterisations enabled pupils to gain a deeper understanding of each role and commit to memory some of the key lines from the play. The company's unique use of narrative, sprinkled throughout the performance, highlighted the significance of the social context of the play and the playwright's intentions, providing excellent revision ahead of
CABARET EVENING
Our first Cabaret Evening was a fantastic night, showcasing a range of talent from both our skilled musicians and confident solo singers. It was a truly memorable event and a wonderful
ECO COUNCIL NEWS
As part of Recycle Week, the Eco Council delivered an assembly to the Prep School, highlighting the importance of recycling and how we can all contribute as a school community. They have also organized a fun half-term competition where pupils can create their own “Recycling Heroes” using materials that would have otherwise gone to waste, embracing this year’s Recycle Week theme! We cannot wait to see everyone’s amazing creations.
In addition, they repurposed plants that were destined for disposal into recycled pots, bringing greenery to every classroom.
Well done to the girls for their fantastic efforts in promoting sustainability!

The trip will depart on the last Friday before the Summer Half Term (Friday 23 May), returning on Tuesday 27 May. The itinerary will take in many of the most iconic and historically significant sites in Roman archaeology, as well as sites of religious significance to the Roman Catholic Church.

We hope that you have had a good start to the Autumn Term and academic year. The staff and ponies at STE definitely have, even though they have felt permanently soggy from all the rain! But we are looking forward to the half term and heading into winter.
If you are coming up during the second week of the October Half Term, then please be aware that Beech Avenue will be closed. The best access up to us will be from the Ranmore Road direction, but do check your route.
If we do not see you over the half term, then we look forward to seeing you in November!
Join us in wishing the NSEA team good luck!
Those who are competing at Addington for the NSEA Championships headed up on Thursday and Friday to compete in various classes as teams and individuals over the weekend. This Championship is a culmination of all their hard work and progress over the past year. There have been some unfortunate pull outs due to injuries and illnesses, but we hope that those who are still attending enjoy their time and have fun.
Stay tuned for their results on our Facebook page, and again… BEST OF LUCK!
Pony Mornings and Pony Afternoons are fully booked over the October Half Term, but there are still some places for private lessons.
Otherwise have a look at the dates for the Christmas Holidays and February Half Term which are available to book!
Have a look on the EcPro booking system to see what is available.
This Week
Bible Reading
Jesus taught his disciples,
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.
Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns
And yet, your heavenly Father feeds them.
Gospel of Matthew
Reflection
Over the past few weeks the Church has focused on the wonderful gift of creation. So often we fail to see life with the eyes of faith. God has us in the palm of his hands. He knows us and he loves us. He will take care of us and guide us on. Thank you for all those who donated to our Harvest Appeals. Your kind gifts will be shared with those in our community who are in need.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, we believe that you are present in our school. Help us throughout this year to remain close to You.
Help us to see the great gift of your creation. May we be good stewards of all you have given us and look after the wonderful animals you have placed in our care.
“May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.”
