Thought for the week:
How will you mark Lent?
A Prayer for Lent
Almighty and ever living God, you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent. May this time be one of outward focus; seeking you in those we often ignore. Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity and encounter. Give us hearts hungry to serve you and those who need what we have to give.
Amen
Reflection
Why 40 days? The number 40 is significant in Scripture. In Genesis, the flood which destroyed the Earth was brought about by 40 days and nights of rain. The Hebrews spent 40 years in the wilderness before reaching the land promised to them by God. Moses fasted for 40 days before receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness in preparation for his ministry. What will you do over the next 40 days?
Let us Pray: Our Father
Hail Mary

“
To experience Lent with love means caring for those who suffer or feel abandoned and fearful.”
Pope Francis
In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
