Internal EHS Auditor and Awareness Training Oil & Gas Sector
Key Project Elements Environmental Awareness Training Internal EHS Auditor Training Mock and Live Audits Meeting Management System Objectives
CRA provided a programme of business-specific support to a key client with global operations in the oil and gas sector. The work involved meeting business unit objectives to raise awareness and develop EHS auditing capabilities. CRA’s extensive knowledge of the organisation’s procedures and practices equipped us to develop two separate training packages, incorporating materials and images directly related to the client’s sites and management system procedures. The awareness-raising comprised a 90-minute participative workshop for up to 12 individuals. It introduced the drivers for effective environmental management, management system concepts and practical guidance on good site practice. The internal auditor training was designed to introduce the management systems auditing concepts of ISO19011 and apply them to EHS auditing. The two-day course included a blend of taught sessions and participative exercises in audit planning, conduct and reporting, emphasising the value of identifying and raising nonconformances. It also included a mock audit, and finally, a live audit, including the presentation of feedback to the auditees. The training was delivered in a single visit, with two auditor training courses and a number of awareness-raising sessions being delivered. The client’s own EHS staff subsequently continued to deliver the awareness training to the remainder of company and contractor staff.
