Craze A collaborative Parks and Recreation publication by the cities of Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. Recreation offers opportunities for living, learning and leading full and productive lives. It also provides avenues to experience purpose, pleasure, health and well being. Parks provide open spaces, which enhance the desirability of our communities, as well as contributing to the health and safety of our citizens. HOURS OF OPERATION: The Recreation Office is

located at the Frances Anderson Center. The FAC is open from 8:30am to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday, and 9am to 2pm, Saturday. The building will be closed January 1, 15 and February 19.

ARE YOU AN EDMONDS RESIDENT?

Edmonds residents make a significant contribution to the City’s financing and operation through property taxes. Therefore, Edmonds residents receive a discount off the regular class fee.

Once coordination and body awareness has been established, then we will focus on connecting, combining and perfecting skills and continue working on proper form and technique necessary for our competitive program. This course provides entry level Lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program includes American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. This will be offered as a blended learning course format where students complete online lessons outside of class and hands on/in water practice in class. FIRST AID/CPR (Ages 12+)

The City of Mountlake Terrace and Fire District 1 are teaming up to offer the American Heart Association’s Heartsaver® First Aid & CPR/AED classes. This course is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult, Child & Infant CPR and use of an AED. Kids Krew is a quality before and after school experience for children ages 5-12 years offering a unique combination of recreational and enrichment opportunities in a relaxed and caring environment. Programs located at Mountlake Terrace Pavilion and Madrona K-8 have been certified by WA Department of Early Learning. Elementary schools served include Terrace Park, Madrona, Sherwood, and Mountlake Terrace Elementary. Kids Krew is offered on a monthly basis and follows the Edmonds School District calendar. Arts of the Terrace Winners Announced The Arts of the Terrace Artists’ Reception attracted over 175 artists and patrons as Friends of the Arts and the city’s Arts Advisory Commission celebrated their 39th year hosting this popular regional juried art show. The show attracted 421 entries and awards were presented for the best pieces selected from 305 works that were juried into the show. Entries were submitted from Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Texas, and California. This year’s “Best of Show”, sponsored by the McMahan License Agency and was presented to Frankie Gollub for an oil painting entitled “Willem’s Kat and Pieter’s Salt Cellar”.
