Mountlake Terrace Dance Academy Classes

Our excellent instructors provide a structured approach to dance, with emphasis on technique, creativity, and

building self-esteem. Our yearly Dance Academy program is based on a full school years curriculum and begins with children who are 3 .5 years of age as of Sept 1st 2021 . For children younger please see our Quarterly classes . Students may enter the program any time . However, all dancers will be evaluated in their first class for proper placement at the teacher and directors discretion . Class schedule and prices listed here are for ON-SITE classes . Ballet I-V

AGES 8+

Danseurs & Ballerinas build strength, flexibility and grace in a non-competitive, encouraging environment . These traditional classes focus on ballet vocabulary, correct alignment, and finding personal expression within the form . Barre-work, center floor exercises and movement across the room will all be included in an appropriate way for each level . Students may be placed in a different level after evaluation in the first week of classes . * We also have Adult Ballet . See page 15 .

A popular free flowing dance form that uses elements of ballet, contemporary and Jazz to express the words to the music . It’s often seen in music videos and TV dance competitions .

Th 5:30-6:30pm 2/3-6/16 R$205 N$224 The MLT Dance Academy is excited to host the CarrollHenderson School of Irish Dancing at the Pavilion . The traditional, competitive and artistic aspects of this energetic form are taught in classes that focus on the foundational techniques of Irish Dance while nurturing the rhythm, carriage, style and artistry of the performers for a holistic dance education . With a hop, skip and a jump your dancer will be flying through the air and falling in love with this beautiful art form .

IRISH STEP I / II (AGES 7-12)

Dress Code

In General: • Never wear your dance shoes outside – always change your shoes at the studio door • Everyone’s hair must be secured off their face so they can focus on learning to move • Jeans and other non-flexible fabrics aren’t appropriate for dance

CREATIVE DANCE (AGES 3.5-5)

Boys – Sweats or shorts and a plain t-shirt, bare feet . Girls – any color leotard and footless tights or leggings, bare feet .

CREATIVE PRE BALLET (AGES 5-7) & BALLET LEVELS I–V

Boys – plain t-shirt, black tights or leggings and black leather ballet shoes . Girls – black leotard, pink tights, and pink leather ballet shoes . Level II-V must have their hair in a bun . Pre-Ballet and Level I are practicing buns .

JAZZ / LYRICAL

Boys & girls – black jazz or yoga pants, plain t-shirt or leotard, jazz shoes or lyrical ‘footies .

IRISH STEP DANCE

Dance sportswear and black Irish Step Dance shoes or ballet slippers .
