Beginning Birding – Ages 12+

Washington State has some of the best bird diversity in the country, with hundreds of species spread from coast to mountaintop. But how to tell them apart? This class is designed to give you needed skills to identify common or unfamiliar birds that you may see. In addition to 2 classroom presentations, participants will sign up for 1 of the 2 offered field trips to the Skagit and Samish river flats. Field Trip dates are February 18 and February 25. Sign ups will take place at the classroom sessions. Carpools will be scheduled for field trips. Riders will owe the drive $10 each for gas.

Owl Prowl with Pilchuck Audubon - Ages 12+

Join expert naturalists for an evening getting to know the barred owls of Yost Park. We’ll learn about these fascinating birds as we search forested trails for our resident owls. Requires moderate walking on uneven terrain.

Playtime with Forest Friends - Ages 3-4

Join a Ranger-Naturalist for an hour of indoor fun learning all about our local forest animals. Pelts, stories, crafts and puppet play make this indoor program guaranteed fun! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Taught by Discovery Programs staff.

Starlight Beach Walk - FREE

Join Discovery Programs staff and the WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers for a low tide beach walk under the stars. We’ll explore the beach as the tide goes out, then return to the Visitor Station for some hot beverages to take the chill off. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather. Meet at the Olympic Beach Visitor Station. All ages are welcome and no registration is required.
