Project This 33.34 acre mixed use development is the second phase of development within the core area of the Odenton Town Center. The site consists of 3 parcels located on both sides of Route 170 a major town collector. Phase 2 will include approximately 290 residential units, 75,000 to 83,000 square feet of retail, and the widening of Route 170. The property has many existing constraints that affect the project development. Major constraints include: • existing underground and overhead BGE transmission and distribution lines located along the property frontage to Route BGE distribution lines located along both road frontages that will impact the future development and HUD layout constraints • the property on the east side of Route 170 contains environmentally impacted soil, caused by prior owner facilities, that is being addressed by processing the site through a to-be-approved MDE plan. • the east side also contains the remains of former manufacturing plant building slabs and parking, • existing disturbances to environmentally sensitive areas and manmade steep slopes created during the build out of the former facility • negative visual and noise impacts caused by the adjacent location of the existing BGE substation. Contribution • County and Town Center ordnance research • Site layout designs including research and development of multiple restaurant and grocery prototypes • Site grading and earthwork analysis using AutoCAD Civil 3D • Coordination with project architects • Preliminary stormwater, sewer, water, and storm drain layout • Odenton Town Center Bike and Pedestrian connection research • Preliminary streetscape and site amenity design • Environmental features disturbance research and exhibits • Preparation of site ordnance modification request and exhibits

ASLA Maryland Chapter Student Merit Award: 2013 Conceptually extracted from the biblical book of Psalms, this thesis explores the expression of praise through sound in the designed landscape. This method of exploration starts with an analysis of the seven Hebrew words for praise. It looks at sound within the environment to find a connection between space, sound, and the emotions and response of praise, and explores how these sounds can be experienced visually, physically and audibly. Sound is characterized by the various elements of music theory that illustrate the seven Hebrew words, and the analogy of space and music composition. With an understanding of the psychology of praise, sound, and the environment a landscape can foster a dynamic spiritual experience. As a means of exploration this praise methodology was applied to the current development of Symphony Woods Park in Columbia Maryland. Symphony Woods is a 36 acre park in the heart of Downtown Columbia that encircles Merriweather Post Pavilion, a popular outdoor concert venue in the region. The final product included a master plan of Symphony Woods, and a detailed plan of the tree walk and playground which included a landscape and grading plan.

ASLA Maryland Chapter Analysis & Planning Merit Award: 2013 Project The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway in Maryland is a network of highways, local roads, small towns and villages, farmland, waterways, bridges, and significant structures and sites. Morgan State University’s School of Architecture and Planning was a consultant for the Caroline County Office of Tourism to provide an integrated heritage tourism approach to guide its protection, enhancement, and promotion of the Poplar Neck region as a high-quality destination for Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad-related experiences. I worked for Morgan State in a trans-disciplinary project team that included architects, landscape architects, city planners, historic preservationists, economists. The report contained five case studies for specific sites identified by the Caroline County Office of Tourism to depict Harriet Tubman’s life. Each of the case studies included master plans and a series of recommendations to depict visitor experiences so that optimal interpretive, recreational, and economic impact thresholds are achieved. Contribution • Assessment of potential locations and the measurement of each location’s potential for inclusion within the overall master plan context • Recreational master plan throughout the site and conceptual development • Conceptual development throughout the site to stimulate economic growth • Marketing strategies • CELA National Conference panel discussion: From Harriet Tubman to Horizontal Research: Case Study of the Poplar Neck Master Plan Methodology 2012

Come Plant A Seed - Author & Illustrator 2016 ELIT Silver Award -Environmental, Ecology, Nature Come Plant A Seed explains how trees are the source of wood, which is then used to make products we see and use every day. This whimsical story covers wood used for transportation, sports equipment, furniture, habitats, supplies, and instruments. After learning that wood comes from a tree, two friends plant a tree seed. As they wait for their seed to grow they imagine the fun possibilities of what their tree can become. This story was inspired by the thousands of trees in the field inventory report along MD State Highway Route 210 that took me days to draft.
