4th August, 2015 Reflection The Blessing of Winter In the heart of winter, let us give thanks for the many quiet blessings of this season. We give thanks for the blessing of winter: Season to cherish the heart. To make warmth and quiet for the heart. To make soups and broths for the heart. To cook for the heart and read for the heart. To curl up softly and nestle with the heart. To sleep deeply and gently at one with the heart. To dream with the heart. To spend time with the heart. A long, long time of peace with the heart. We give thanks for the blessing of winter: Season to cherish the heart. Amen (Michael Leunig) Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ) May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith, and may we be planted and grounded in love and grow in all ways into Christ. Amen

Re-enrolment 2016

Student Achievement

During Term 3 a formal re-enrolment process will take place. This process enables the College to comply with a CEO requirement regarding enrolment data which is due in Term 4. The actual enrolment prediction for the 2016 school year will influence the recurrent funding for the College. To ensure you do not jeopardise your child’s re-enrolment we would appreciate all fee payments being brought up to date.

We were recently notified by the Federal Government Department of Education and Training that 2014 student Amelia Williamson has been awarded an Australian Vocational Student Prize. The award is in recognition of the achievement of students who have completed their secondary studies while undertaking vocational education and training while at school. Amelia receives a certificate and prize of $1000 for her achievement. We congratulate her in this fantastic achievement.

CRC Melton Performing Arts Gala ticket order form

Wednesday 12 August: The Year 9 cohort will be attending an excursion next Wednesday to the Melbourne Museum to view the World War 1 Exhibition and the Shrine of Remembrance. As this is part of their understanding towards the History unit in Humanities and associated assessments, it is essential that students attend this organised event. Please note the following important information: Full winter uniform is required for the day. Students are responsible for a packed snack and lunch to bring on the day as students will have no access to purchase food due to a tight schedule. The cost of the excursion per student is $5 and this will need to be paid to their Humanities teacher. Please ensure that you have accepted on CareMonkey or returned required forms back to the school before Monday 10th August. If students do not come to school in their full winter uniform, they will remain behind and complete a detention day of clean-up. If there are any concerns about the excursion, please feel free to contact myself or Mrs Daniela Harrington. Thanking you for your support

Our two teams achieved middle of the field amongst around 90 teams (2 teams of four students per school). All received certificates and badges. Events like these help us link what often many students face in Mathematics. As Ranjana Srivastava, Oncologist, on Q & A Monday 3rd August said, “I couldn’t quite figure out how rote-learning the 13 times tables … translated to building bridges and flying planes..” Silvana Nuspan Mathematics Teacher

Please contact the school by Monday, August 10 to register your interest in attending.
