Dear Parents and Students, Remembrance Day Ethan Trethowan and Khaw Ti Ling represented the College at the annual Remembrance Day Service at Melton Marsh last Saturday.

Trade Training Centre Visit On Thursday 2nd November, the College hosted Catholic School Principals from St Patricks Technical College, SA, St Columbus QLD, Guilford Young College TAS, Newman Senior Technical College QLD, Southern Cross Vocational College NSW and Catholic Regional College Sydenham who came to inspect our Trade Training Centre.

From the Deputy Principal—Staff 2018 Subject Selections All Year 8 and 9 students have received their 2018 Year 9 and 10 subject letters. Changes will no longer be considered as booklist and levy numbers need to be lodged. Students of families that have not completed re-enrolment for 2018 will not receive their letters until re-enrolment is completed.

TAT’s Congratulations to all Years 7 – 8 students for the way they approached their Timed Assessment Tasks (TATs) last week. The experience they gain from sitting these tasks in a senior exam environment will assist them with exams in Years 10 – 12.

Years 10 & 11 All Year 10 and 11 students are now in our Semester 2 Exam period that runs until Tuesday, 21st November. Students are only required at school when they have exams.

All returning students will then be involved in Jumpstart classes for 2018. Individual Jumpstart timetables will be given to all students during the exams.

Term 4 Key Dates Listed below is a summary of Term 4 Key dates for your referral: 2018 VCE Jumpstart 2018 Year 11 and 12 runs from Wednesday 22nd November to Friday 1st December Year 10 and 11 Mass—Friday 1st December 2018 VCAL Jumpstart VCAL 2018 Jumpstart (Foundation, Intermediate & Senior) will operate during the week of Monday 27th November to Friday 1st December (except the Wednesday). Attendance at Jumpstart is compulsory and will go towards 2018 VCAL attendance. During Jumpstart, students will be working through outcomes and will require their iPAD. Students are required to be in full summer uniform, not sports uniform.

YEAR 7, 8 & 9 Finish Year 7 - 9 students finish classes on Thursday 7th December with a special last day program on Friday 8th December.

College Awards Evening Awards Night will take place on Wednesday 6th December at TabCorp Park, Melton John Christie Deputy Principal (Staff)

Sports News Victorian All Schools Athletics Championships On the weekend of 3-5 November Montana Djatschenko of Year 10 competed at the Victorian All Schools Athletics Championships at Lakeside Stadium in the city. This event is for elite athletes from schools in Victoria. Montana had a very successful meet with Gold in the U17 triple jump and Silver in both the U17 long jump and 100m. Montana is off to Adelaide in December to compete in the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships. We wish Montana all the best for her upcoming events.

Victorian Schools Weightlifting Competition Congratulations to Joel Wood and Alishia Lane who competed in the Victorian schools Weightlifting Completion on 20 October. Both Joel and Alishia won their respective age class and categories.

Both students have been training at Invictus Fitness & Mixed Martial Arts in Bacchus Marsh after school preparing for this competition.

Minyip School Shoot Competition Brendan O’Brien and Jack Smith recently represented CRC at the Minyip School Shoot Competition. Both boys performed very well with Brendan coming equal first with four other boys in the Junior Boys category. Congratulations to both boys and thank you Shane O’Brien for his support and coaching.

Remembrance Day Service The students and staff gathered on Friday to commemorate Remembrance Day at our Lone Pine site. The ceremony was led by our newly appointed College Captains, Ethan Trethown and Madalyn McGill, Liturgy Leaders Shehan Tennakoon and Evana Miesen and the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand were beautifully performed by Briannah Muncgal and Regina Tuala. A wreath was laid by Mr McCann and Evana on behalf of the school community. Year 12 student Brandon Porter represented the Army Reserve in uniform.

Office of the eSafety Commissioner Recently the Office of the eSafety Commissioner launched a world-first initiative—Australians who have had intimate images or videos shared without their consent are now able to access tangible support and advice through their new online portal- Image Based Abuse (IBA) Their research shows that a significant number of Australians have been affected by IBA—1 in 5 for women aged 18-45 and 1 in 4 for Indigenous Australians.

Sharing an intimate image without consent is unacceptable and can have devastating impacts on victims, which is why the Office has made it a priority to tackle this insidious practice and give Australians a place to find help, support and to report.

Health and Wellbeing week There is nothing better than having a little bit of good old fashioned fun just before life gets stressful. A few weeks ago the Social Justice team ran a week of activities to do just that; have fun before exams and TATs start. There was popcorn for sale, stress ball making, balloon sculpting, skipping, a ball bob and frisbee throwing. The highlights of the week were certainly the sausage sizzle and the Gelati van. It was wonderful to see so many students with a smile taking part in the activities.
