PEACE AND PROSPERITY THROUGH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE COLLABORATION

Fulfillment of large-scale global programs associated with international research involves complex logistics, project management and the challenges that come with them. Impact saves critical time and energy by providing financial and administrative support services, plus project management expertise, to assist in the implementation of elaborate, diverse international research programs.

Impact provides the most flexibility in service selection by providing only the services that are most important to our partners’ programmatic needs; including project design, technical monitoring, travel arrangements, equipment procurement, funds transfer and full-scale event planning. Leveraging resources for implementation, a team of project managers will provide support to multiple projects that fall under a particular program. Partner programs range from a handful of multi-million dollar projects to a program-portfolio with many projects of varying values, sizes and scopes in multiple countires. Our experienced managers navigate the intricate rules and regulations of international funds transfer with proven financial systems; reducing risk of loss due to misdirection of funds, fraud and waste.

“Since 1998, we have entrusted over $3 million dollars and 17 projects to CRDF. We feel confident in CRDF’s management, knowing that all details are taken care of and that all contracts are in line with government regulations.”

– Ella Barnes, Division Director (CID), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Preserving the Arctic Environment The EPA Office of International Affairs (EPA/OIA) and the Arctic Council (a high-level intergovernmental forum for addressing concerns faced by Arctic states), established a cooperative effort with Russia to achieve environmentally-safe management of its extensive Soviet-era stocks of obsolete and prohibited pesticides (over 30,000 metric tons). Under this joint initiative, thousands of tons of obsolete pesticides have been analyzed, inventoried, and placed into safe storage in 7 Regions of Russia that impact the Arctic. EPA has relied on CRDF since 1998 to provide varied support services, for its international collaboration on projects ranging from design and construction of storage containers for spent nuclear fuel from decommissioned submarines to PCP decontamination and technology demonstrations for reduction of mercury and PBP contamination.

Organization Overview CRDF is a nonprofit organization authorized by the U.S. Congress and established in 1995 by the National Science Foundation. CRDF promotes international scientific and technical collaboration through research and institutional grants, training activities, and services. The growing network of CRDF’s programs and services currently reaches more than 30 countries in Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Southeast Asia.
