At its core, a Leighton Park education focuses on the individual and the promise of choice. Our cross-cutting skills programmes position students for success in a fastchanging world. We teach leadership, creative thinking and risk-taking, empowering students to be a force for good in the world and reflecting the school’s Quaker values.
This school really encourages you to be an individual, it doesn’t shape you in a certain way like other schools might. It encourages you to be yourself, and be successful as yourself. Gabriel, Lower Sixth

I like the way that we learn about things that are new; IT is changing a lot and people in school at the moment won’t know what jobs will be available when we grow up so I think it’s good that we are looking towards the future. Ruth, Year 9

SMALL CLASS SIZES The teachers take everyone from different levels and help them get the best that they can, they never say you can’t get a good grade; they make you recognise that you have to put the hard work in and it’s not just them pushing you, you have to push yourself. Rhiannon, Lower Sixth

It’s very different to other schools in the way that you are allowed to be your own person. Every person is heard within the school. You will have every opportunity to be heard and there is always someone to talk to. Year 9 Student SIMPLICITY TRUTH RESPECT INTEGRITY PEACE EQUALITY SUSTAINABILITY
Personal Development Students take part in rewarding skills programmes and enjoy many opportunities to gain leadership skills, making them more creative, confident, reflective, resilient and career-ready. Examples include:

Because of the push this school gave me to grow outside of education and leave my comfort zones you can ask anyone and they will say how far I’ve come in confidence since Year 7 which I cannot thank the school enough for. Upper Sixth Leaver

Steven Ross Pomeroy, Chief Editor of RealClearScience “Nobel laureates in the sciences are seventeen times likelier than the average scientist to be a painter, twelve times as likely to be a poet, and four times as likely to be a musician.
I loved getting involved in different music hobbies (orchestra, jazz groups, choir) and getting the opportunity to play in concerts, go on music tour and play with students in different years. Alex Cheng, Old Leightonian Neuroscience, Balliol College, Oxford

Sport All students have the opportunity to represent the school or their House across a full range of team and individual sports. Through excellent coaching and commitment, staff encourage even the reluctant sportsperson, uncovering hidden potential. Many of our students compete at regional, national and international level. Our elite athletes are offered individual strength and conditioning sessions as well as additional sporting opportunities via our Advanced Performer Programme (APP).

Boarding All our Houses are co-educational, with residential areas split into girls’ and boys’ wings with clear and well-enforced rules - ensuring a structured environment. House Mistresses and Masters, Tutors, Matrons and House Graduates all contribute in creating a homely, fun and welcoming environment for students. At weekends, boarders have activities, sports and tutor sessions in the mornings and take advantage of the school’s location to enjoy trips to London and local attractions such as Windsor, Winchester and Oxford.
Being a boarder gave me a more involved school experience. At university I find myself talking about school and ‘House life’ with an affection that is obviously alien to so many other people. Old Leightonian Boarder SIMPLICITY TRUTH RESPECT INTEGRITY PEACE EQUALITY SUSTAINABILITY
