dr. QuenTin ChiOTTi

Senior Consultant Mobility Mobycon The Netherlands

Advisor on Air Quality Issues Pollution Probe

Angela works at Mobycon as a mobility consultant, specialised in sustainable mobility and behavioural change. She advises clients in the fields of cycling and electric bicycling, the use of public transport and traffic safety. Stimulating behavioural change through education, communication and organisation.

Dr. Quentin Chiotti has been working in the field of climate change and air quality since 1993. Quentin has been an academic, worked for Environment Canada, and was Senior Scientist at Pollution Probe from 2002-2010. He has published over 50 articles and book chapters, and is an Associate Member of the Centre for Environment, University of Toronto. Dr. Chiotti has been involved in developing the Comprehensive Air Management System, as the co-chair of the working group on Air Zones Management and Regional Air Sheds, and a member of the working group on National Ambient Air Quality Standards. He is currently the Co-Lead for The Gateway Project, through the Association for Canadian Educational Resources, and continues to advise Pollution Probe on air quality related issues.

During her studies Angela already started to play an active role in cycle training for immigrant women in the city of Tilburg. From this period on the relation between mobility and the roles people play in family-life and society had her special attention. She has worked for several organisations in the field of informal education and empowerment. She developed innovative methods and course material that is currently being used nationally and internationally for cycle training and promotion. Her experiences in initiating and leading (complex) projects, together with her substantive knowledge of mobility matters, has led to several relevant skills. Like the ability to structure and analyse, a well developed environmental awareness, the strong will to achieve cooperation between parties involved and to transform this into an efficient implementation of projects. Addressing mobility behaviour means working with people and that needs courage, empathy and passion.

Merits of the Business

“The next wave of multi-millionaires/billionaires will come from entrepreneurs bringing the “Green House Gas Sequestration” projects on stream on a “mass” scale. And those who ‘invest’ along with these entrepreneurs will reap the benefits as well.”

Thus the number of companies needing to buy credits will increase

INTRO

• High taxes or tariffs for producers of Green House Gases • Contributing to Global Carbon Reduction • Recognized authority in assessment, quantification & serialization of Carbon Credits

Terms of the Investment

This is the first time the LPR vehicles were used in this capacity in Winnipeg.

A parking study was prepared by MMM in two Winnipeg neighbourhoods. The goals were to identify existing parking deficiencies, forecast needs and find additional parking and management options, including possible parking charges. The study also examined existing bike parking opportunities and identified locations for additional bike parking as a way of reducing demand for vehicle parking.

First time conference attendees are invited to attend this reception hosted by the CPA Board. Join us to meet the Board of Directors and other members before the opening ceremonies.

Inspiration comes to me from having the privilege of spending every day in the company of essential oils. Plant wisdom has guided me for 40 years in my personal and business life and I have been enriched beyond measure by its blessings. I personally evaluate and connect with every essential oil that arrives at Rae Dunphy Aromatics, and I listen carefully to hear the message in each one. Sometimes the song is loud, and sometimes very subtle. It is always joyful. I know that some of you purchase your essential oils based on price, growing method; organic or not, country of origin, fragrance preference. I also know that we cannot be all to everyone but I can assure you that we purchase as carefully and directly as we can and do our best to get the real story behind each oil. Price is not as important in our purchases as quality, growing method and relationship to the producer. We want you to experience results in your work with our essential oils and suggest that using the best always affects the outcome. There is so much more information to share with you than we currently have listed on our website. We are limited by Health Canada by what we can say which I believe does a disservice to you as a therapist and ultimately the public. That being said, we are starting to post a few descriptions that are very brief but may inspire you to read further in published books and medical journals. Continue to peek in our Discover section on the website for information about essential oils, products, or whatever inspires us. After a product leaves the Discover section, you will find longer articles in the Archive section, or on the individual essential oil or product page. In the Spirit of Gratitude for you our dear customers I share this amazing video:

New Skin Care Labelling

Save by registering by April 16

We are doing a redesign of the skin care labels. You have asked for more direction on grouping products by skin type with supportive information. We are happy to say that by mid April the Cleansers, Toners, Serums, Cremes and Oils will sport new and beautiful clothes.

Calgary Show Note: There will not be a Calgary show as planned this October. Management has decided to focus attention on the Vancouver show for western attendees. We will be in Toronto April 29-30. See you there! www.spa-show.com

ab

What has proved to be challenging is deciding the top two skin types for each product to display on the labels. Many skin care lines are designed to ‘treat’ a skin type rather than balance the skin. Our botanically active products have such a broad range of application in different skin types that we were reticent to ‘pigeonhole’ a product into two types of skin. We realize for retail success, this needed to happen but please look deeper into our support literature for further discussion on other applications for some of the products. Look also for some new professional pre-treatment soaks coming March as well.

Progress Reviews

November 21, 2008 | 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. | Canad Inns Polo Park, Winnipeg

FEATURED SPEAKER Sandy Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg Sandy became the Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg in 2006, bringing with him more than 30 years of business experience, including the last 16 years as President of Hopkins & Associates Inc. a management consulting company. Sandy has also been extensively involved in a wide variety of volunteer activities. He has completed extended terms as a Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce; Chair of the Advisory Committee to the Transport Institute of the University of Manitoba, Member of the Millennium Library Steering Committee; member and Chair of the Winnipeg Public Library Board; and Vice Chair of the Advisory Committee to the Nav Canada Board of Directors.

WHAT AND WHY?

Contact: RSVP by November 14th to Yvette Turner at yturner@cmhc.ca or at (204) 983-5601

The primary purpose of progress reviews is to provide the opportunity for employees and managers to touch base on how the performance plan is moving forward. Are competencies being demonstrated? Are goals on track? Are necessary recourses still available? Along with ongoing discussions between the employee and manager, there are many other reasons why progress reviews are important: ■

They provide managers and employees with a way to review performance so that performance and development discussions are fair and that it reflects the entire year of performance and not just a recent or single impressionable event.

There is a strong business case for progress reviews. Given the dynamic environment in which CMHC is operating, shifts in business priorities or unforeseen challenges in meeting objectives may influence the relevancy or achievement of the objectives. Progress reviews creates the opportunity to review, and if applicable, modify objectives to allow employees to focus their energies in areas which matter most.

There is a strong people case for progress reviews. Employees want feedback and coaching and they want to know their work matters and that they have the ongoing support from their managers to succeed.

NO SURPRISES!! When progress reviews are conducted effectively, the year end review is not such a time consuming experience but more of a brief discussion between employee and manager to wrap up the final few months of the year.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EMPLOYEE’S ROLE: ■

Track your performance on objectives and competencies. Try using the progress review form as a working document. When you have achieved a key activity for an objective or have demonstrated a competency in a specific situation, log this information into the form. That way, you are not scrambling at the end of year trying to gather information to support your performance or development plan.

Solicit feedback from your manager, other manager’s and people as appropriate. For example colleagues or clients.

Communicate openly and regularly with your manager providing regular updates on how your objectives and competencies are progressing and seek direction if the information is not clear.
