A equipa do GDC, agora com nova direcção de prova a cargo de Paulo Leal, irá tentar provar ao novo promotor do FIA ERC que tem trunfos para continuar no nível competitivo mais alto dos palcos europeus. O plantel de pilotos presente nos Açores marca-se logo à partida pela ausência de alguns nomes muito importantes como o do campeão em título Andreas Mikkelsen e russo o Alexey Lukyanuk. Para a qualidade e variedade da lista, é importante ainda referir algumas novidades como a estreia dos Toyota GR Yaris do Toyota Gazoo Racing Iberian Cup, bem como presença dos Renault Clio RS Rally4 do Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT. Espera-se essencialmente que estas duas novas competições possam mostrar que são uma mais-valia para os ralis, e que funcionem como forma de captação de novos e mais jovens valores, um problema que muito tem assombrado as competições em Portugal, por via da falta de iniciativas federativas e privadas que tragam sangue novo aos ralis. O Guia do Azores Rallye da Criativa conta este ano com uma grande novidade, já que pensando no ambiente, se apresenta com um menor número de páginas, sendo que os mapas estarão agora disponíveis online, numa plataforma que pode ser acedida com qualquer smartphone através do QR code apresentado para maior comodidade dos adeptos na estrada. he Azores Rallye 2022, the second event of the FIA ERC and also of the Portuguese Rallye Championship, has a slightly revised itinerary and some regulation news regarding the competitions. The GDC team, now with a new Clerk of the Course with Paulo Leal in charge, will try to prove to the new promoter of the FIA ERC that the event has what it takes to continue at the highest competitive level of the European motorsport events. The squad of drivers present in the Azores is marked right from the start by the absence of some very important names such as the defending champion Andreas Mikkelsen and Russian Alexey Lukyanuk. For the quality and variety of the list, it is also important to mention some news such as the debut of the Toyota GR Yaris from the Toyota Gazoo Racing Iberian Cup, as well as the presence of the Renault Clio RS Rally4 from the Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT. It is essentially expected that these two new competitions can show that they are an added value to rallies, and that they work as a way of capturing new and younger drivers, a problem that has haunted competitions in Portugal due to the lack of federative and private initiatives that bring new blood to rallies. The Azores Rallye Guide by Criativa has a great novelty this year as it has fewer pages, being more environmentally friendly, and the stage maps will now be available online on a platform that can be accessed with any smartphone via QR code presented for greater convenience for fans on the rallye stages. eja bem vindo(a) ao Azores Rallye 2022, na maravilhosa ilha de S. Miguel. Esta é a 56ª edição de um evento que leva o nome e a paisagem das ilhas açorianas muito para além das fronteiras de Portugal. Fiel à sua tradição, o Azores Rallye tinha que incluir algumas das nossas classificativas mais icónicas, como Graminhais, Tronqueira, ou a espetacular Sete Cidades, com as vistas da lagoa azul e da lagoa verde a evocar tempos passados e heróis passados que guiaram no limite na crista da montanha da que já foi considerada “a mais bela classificativa do mundo”. Mas, a vontade de evoluir levou-nos a alterar a Prova de Qualificação – Lagoa Stage, que permaneceu na mesma localização, mas com um novo traçado e a necessidade de incluir a Power Stage abriu espaço para uma nova classificativa, chamada Ribeira Grande – Capital do Surf, na periferia daquela cidade nortenha, que combina tradição e novidade, numa classificativa rápida e bastante técnica, que vai levar os concorrentes ao limite à procura dos pontos de bónus que esta atribui para o campeonato. Para além da competição e da consagração dos vencedores, a segurança é sempre a maior preocupação do organizador. Com isto em mente, preparámos um plano de segurança detalhado que assegura que o espetador pode apreciar o rali em segurança. Por favor fique longe de zonas NO GO e siga as instruções dos nossos Marshalls e Oficiais de Prova. Não há sítio como a berma da estrada para assistir a um rali. Definimos um conjunto de fantásticas Áreas de Espetadores, onde pode apreciar em segurança. Procure-as no Rally Guide e planeie os seus movimentos com antecedência. Mesmo que não possa vir a S. elcome to the Azores Rallye 2022, on the wonderful island of S. Miguel. This is the 56th edition of an event that takes the name and landscape of the Azorean islands far beyond the borders of Portugal. True to its tradition, the Azores Rallye had to include some of our most iconic stages, such as Graminhais, Tronqueira, and the spectacular Sete Cidades with views of the blue lake and the green lake evoking past times and past heroes who drove to the limit on the crest of the mountain of what was once considered “the most beautiful stage in the world”. However, the desire to evolve led us to change the Qualification Test – Lagoa Stage, which remained in the same location but with a new layout, and the need to include a Power Stage opened space for a new stage called Ribeira Grande – Capital do Surf on the outskirts of that northern city, which combines tradition and novelty in a quick and very technical stage, which will take competitors to the limit in search of the bonus points that it assigns for the championship. In addition to competition and the recognition of winners, safety is always the organizer’s biggest concern. With this in mind, we have prepared a detailed safety plan that ensures spectators can enjoy the rallye safely. Please stay away from NO GO zones and follow instructions from our Marshalls and Event Officials. There’s no place like the side of the road to watch a rallye. We have defined a set of fantastic Spectator Areas, where you can enjoy safely. Look them up in the Rally Guide and plan your moves in advance. Even if you can’t come to S. Miguel – Azores and feel the adrenaline first hand, you can still follow all the stages and be on top of the event by following the large set of files that we will publish for you. Durante os dias do evento, damos a conhecer a riqueza do nosso concelho e da nossa ilha - a arte de bem receber, as paisagens idílicas, a cultura ímpar - e reforçamos a nossa notoriedade. Este é, sem dúvida, um evento que contribui consideravelmente para a dinamização da economia local, para a criação de desenvolvimento e de riqueza. Em meu nome pessoal e institucional, gostaria de dar as boas-vindas aos pilotos, aos amantes da mobilidade, à organização e aos demais públicos do evento, desejando, a todos, um excelente rali. Vivam a prova com emoção, mas não descurem a razão, respeitando as normas de segurança.

During every day of this sports event, we have the chance to showcase to thousands of people and rallye fans the richness of our county and of our Island regarding the art of our hospitality, our idyllic landscapes and our unique culture, reinforcing our presence in the World. This competition is without a doubt a considerable contribution to the dynamisation of our local economy, and a source of local development and wealth, such is the dimension and projection that it brings to Ponta Delgada. On my behalf and on the City’s behalf, I would like to welcome the drivers, the fans, the organization and all the audiences of the event, wishing them all an excellent rallye. É de braços abertos que vos recebemos após um longo período de restrições devido à pandemia. O Azores Rallye é o primeiro grande evento após quase dois anos de duras batalhas contra um inimigo invisível que a todos nós nos apanhou desprevenidos. Apesar dos constrangimentos vividos, acreditamos que 2022 será um ano de retoma, atendendo às boas perspetivas criadas pela forma com que aqui, nos Açores, soubemos lidar com a Covid-19. Com a diminuição das restrições e com a expetativa de haver muito mais pessoas a visitar-nos, a Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Grande preparou um programa cultural bastante preenchido para atrair o máximo de tempo possível durante este ano. Começando pelo apoio ao Azores Rallye, que se traduz num retorno imediato ao nível da visibilidade internacional, passando pelos eventos ligados ao mar, onde o Surf assume especial relevância, com a etapa da liga Meo Surf, que se irá realizar de 24 a 26 de junho, e terminando com a nossa cultura local, onde as marchas e as Cavalhadas de São Pedro (28 e 29 de junho), a feira Quinhentista (de 13 a 17 de julho) e as tradicionais festas de freguesia assumem particular relevância. Por todas estas razões, mas sobretudo porque a Ribeira Grande tem conseguido se afirmar como um concelho em franco crescimento, a todos os níveis, convido-vos a “Põe Aqui o Seu Pezinho, devagar devagarinho” para experienciarem tudo o que temos para oferecer.

Welcome to the municipality of Ribeira Grande. It is with open arms that we welcome you after a long period of restrictions due to the pandemic. The Azores Rallye is the first major event after almost two years of hard battles against an invisible enemy that caught us all off guard. Despite the constraints experienced, we believe that 2022 will be a year of recovery, given the good prospects created by the way in which here, in the Azores, we were able to deal with Covid-19. With the easing of restrictions and with the expectation that there will be many more people visiting us, the Ribeira Grande City Council has prepared a very busy cultural program to attract as much time as possible during this year. Starting with the support to the Azores Rallye, which translates into an immediate return in terms of international visibility going through the events linked to the sea where Surf is of special importance with the Meo Surf League event, which will take place from the 24th to the 26th of June, and ending with our local culture where the Marchas and Cavalhadas de São Pedro (28th and 29th of June), the Quinhentista fair (from the 13th to 17th of July), and the traditional parish festivities assume particular relevance. For all these reasons, but above all because Ribeira Grande has managed to assert itself as a rapidly growing municipality at all levels, I invite you to “Põe Aqui o Seu Pezinho, devagar devagarinho” (traditional song verse meaning “put your foot here slow and steady”) to experience everything we have to offer.

Azores Rallye, organizado pelo Grupo Desportivo Comercial, sai novamente à rua, reunindo os “ingredientes” necessários para atrair milhares de entusiastas dos desportos motorizados, para esta prova pontuável para o Campeonato Europeu de Rali (ERC), para o Campeonato Nacional de Ralis e para o Campeonato de Ralis dos Açores. O Azores Rallye é um evento desportivo de enorme dimensão e destaque para os Açores, trazendo ao nosso meio insular pilotos e amantes do desporto automóvel, oriundos dos mais diferentes países, para participarem e assistirem a um espetáculo automobilístico único, com paisagens de cortar a respiração e com troços de excelência, percorridos quase exclusivamente em pisos de terra. O Azores Rallye é a prova rainha do automobilismo açoriano e, como tal, tem um impacto sobejamente positivo, não só ao nível do desporto, mas também na promoção turística da Região Autónoma dos Açores, conferindo a notoriedade necessária para a projeção do arquipélago, a nível nacional e internacional. Por isso, em nome do Município da Lagoa endereço uma palavra de congratulação à organização deste Rallye, pela realização deste evento que é a prova viva de que é possível vencer-se a distância e combater a insularidade. he Azores Rallye, organized by Grupo Desportivo Comercial, takes to the stages again, bringing together the necessary “ingredients” to attract thousands of motorsports enthusiasts to this event that scores for the European Rally Championship (ERC), for the National Rally Championship and for the Azores Rally Championship. The Azores Rallye is a huge sporting event that stands out for the Azores, bringing to our island drivers and motorsport lovers from different countries to participate and watch a unique automobile show with breathtaking landscapes and excellent stages covered almost exclusively on gravel roads. The Azores Rallye is the queen of Azorean motorsport and, as such, has a highly positive impact, not only in terms of sport, but also in the touristic promotion of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, conferring the necessary notoriety for the projection of the archipelago on a national and international level. Therefore, on behalf of the Municipality of Lagoa, I wish to congratulate the organization of this Rallye for holding this event, which is living proof that it is possible to overcome the distance and fight insularity. To all the drivers and participants, good luck in the competition, may the best ones win, hoping to see you here again next year. Felicito o Grupo Desportivo Comercial pela competência na organização de um evento desta dimensão e pelo esforço dedicado à realização de mais esta edição após dois anos de uma pandemia que trouxe grandes dificuldades também ao desporto. Graças ao Azores Rallye temos conseguido levar a imagem de marca dos Açores a vários países, pela ampla cobertura que é feita do evento, na qual o concelho do Nordeste é privilegiado por ter dois dos grandes troços da prova, concretamente a Estrada da Tronqueira e o Planalto dos Graminhais, trazendo muita gente ao nosso comércio local. Deixo às dezenas de pessoas que nos visitam por estes dias a sugestão para que aproveitem também o nosso alojamento, pois com certeza vão surpreender-se com a qualidade, a variedade e a quantidade da nossa oferta. he Municipality of Nordeste welcomes the holding of the 56th edition of the Azores Rallye, not only the biggest motorized sporting event in the Azores, but also the one that has the greatest impact on the local economy and on the promotion of the Region abroad. I congratulate Grupo Desportivo Comercial for their competence in organizing an event of this size and for the effort dedicated to holding yet another edition after two years of a pandemic that has also brought great difficulties to the sport. Thanks to the Azores Rallye, we have been able to take the Azores brand image to several countries due to the wide coverage that is made of the event, in which the municipality of Nordeste is privileged to have two of the major stages of the event, specifically the Estrada da Tronqueira and the Planalto dos Graminhais, bringing many people to our local trade. I ask the dozens of people who visit us these days to also take advantage of our accommodations, as they will surely be surprised by the quality, variety and quantity of what we have to offer. Em Fafe, prova de abertura do FIA ERC, Armindo Araújo e Luís Ramalho estiveram vários furos acima da concorrência portuguesa, levando o Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo da The Racing Factory à segunda posição final. A ordem de partida foi determinante, mas a mesma foi conquistada no Qualifying Stage, portanto, completo mérito da dupla.

rmindo Araújo has long been absent from the list of entries for the most important rallye of the Azores. The multi-national champion, who took a break from rallies between 2013 and 2018, needs no introduction to the fans. In Fafe, the opening race of the FIA E RC, Armindo Araújo and Luís Ramalho were several levels ahead of the Portuguese competition, taking the Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo from The Racing Factory to the second final position. The starting order was decisive, but it was conquered in the Qualifying Stage. Therefore, full merit to the duo.

The Team Hyundai Portugal driver from Lisbon, along with Carlos Magalhães, will have to fight to get the most out of the Hyundai I20 N Rally2 on the challenging gravel stages of the Azores Rallye, a surface where Hyundai has shown more difficulty in being effective. Fafe was not an easy race for the team, but it is expected that it has been a source of important data to make the car more competitive, in order to give the driver the possibility of achieving his fourth victory in the Azorean race.

Em Fafe, um pouco à semelhança de todas as duplas da Sports & You, as coisas não correram bem à dupla do Citroën C3 Rally2, pelo que o 8º lugar final foi bem melhor que a exibição para o campeão nacional de 2015 e 2016. Veremos como irá ser a prestação no Azores Rallye para José Pedro Fontes e Inês Ponte.

Depois de 2 títulos nacionais em 2019 e 2021, a dupla algarvia Ricardo Teodósio e José Teixeira fizeram em Fafe a estreia ao volante do Hyundai I20 N Rally2. Contudo, não foi de todo uma estreia fácil, com problemas mecânicos desde o início, que aliado às condições atmosféricas extremas, impediram a dupla de alcançar uma posição de relevo. Com o conhecimento que têm dos Açores, mas desconhecimento do Hyundai, será muito interessante ver o que podem fazer nos Açores.

t 46 years of age, Ricardo Teodósio finally has the opportunity to represent an official team, now being a member of Team Hyundai Portugal. After 2 national titles in 2019 and 2021, the Algarve duo Ricardo Teodósio and José Teixeira made their debut with Hyundai I20 N Rally2 in Fafe. However, it was not an easy debut with mechanical problems from the beginning, which combined with extreme weather conditions, prevented the duo from reaching a prominent position. With their knowledge of the Azores stages, but their uncertainity about the Hyundai, it will be very interesting to see what they can do in the Azores.

fter two seasons with the Peugeot 208 Rally4, racing both in Portugal and abroad, Pedro Almeida is back to a Rally2 category car, in this case the Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo from The Racing Factory. The driver of the Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, who now has Mário Castro at his side, was in the spotlight in Fafe regularly positioning himself in 4th and 5th positions among the portuguese competitors, showing a very consistent and promising pace when compared to the competition with much more experience. A época de 2021 acabou por ter um excelente saldo para o piloto espanhol, já que terminou a época na 2ª posição do FIA ERC, fruto da sua regularidade. A dupla espanhola, agora integrada no Team MRF Tyres, teve muitos problemas em Fafe, prova de abertura do FIA ERC, mas irá certamente tentar impôr um ritmo forte desde o início da prova açoriana, que lhes permita marcar importantes pontos para entrar na luta pela conquista do título principal do FIA ERC 2022.

en Torn vai disputar o Azores Rallye num Ford Fiesta Rally2, depois de ter conquistado títulos consecutivos no Junior ERC nos últimos dois anos, sendo nos Açores o único representante da marca oval com um Rally2. O estoniano juntou-se à equipa polaca C-Rally para conduzir um Fiesta Rally2. O também estoniano Kauri Pannas, será o co-piloto de Ken Torn. Devido a ter experiência limitada com viaturas Rally2, só participando em eventos na Estónia antes de Fafe, onde acabou por vencer a Power Stage, Torn apresenta-se com expectativas limitadas.

er o nome Ricardo Moura numa lista de inscritos é sinónimo de que, se tudo correr dentro da normalidade, há que contar com ele para figurar, no mínimo, no pódio final. Prova disso mesmo é que, se analisarmos as últimas participações de Moura no Azores Rallye, se não venceu ou desistiu, terminou no pódio, à excepção do ano passado onde comandou até à 5ª classificativa, terminando a prova em quarto lugar. A falta de ritmo competitivo não parece ser o handicap que à partida se previa, e o virtuosismo do piloto facilmente supera a falta de ritmo. Contando com António Costa ao lado, e sempre com o apoio da ARC Sport, é uma dupla a considerar para a vitória.

eeing the name Ricardo Moura in an entry list is synonymous that if everything goes within normality, we must count on him to appear, at least, on the final podium. Proof of this is that if we analyze Moura’s last participations in the Azores Rallye, if he didn’t win or withdraw, he ended up on the podium, with the exception of last year where he commanded until the 5th stage, finishing the rallye in fourth place. The lack of competitive rhythm doesn’t seem to be the handicap that one might think at first, and the driver’s virtuosity easily overcomes the lack of rhythm. With António Costa co-driving, and supported by ARC Sport, it’s a duo to consider for victory.

t’s been a long time since we’ve seen the name Tempestini on the Azorean race’s entries lists. The only time the driver had participated in the race was in 2013, when both Simone and his father Marco Tempestini participated with Subaru Impreza WRXs. iguel Correia has been a constant name in recent years in the Azores. The 30yo driver only started rallying in 2017, but he is already one of the most notorious names amongst portuguese drivers. His struggle has been to achieve good results throughout the entire races. But taking into account his lack of experience, he might succeed if he manages to turn this inconsistency into a competitive rhythm because he can already fight for the top positions, as seen in Fafe, where he was always the second best Portuguese in the competition. The Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo driver will have Jorge Carvalho at his side, and the support from ARC Sport.

fter the titles achieved in 2018 and 2019 in the Azores Rally Championship, Luis Miguel Rego was unable to repeat the feat last season after a troubled championship start. The Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo driver from Team Além Mar has his first chance to score important points at the Azores Rallye to start the championship in the best way. With the technical support of ARC Sport, the duo Luis Miguel Rego and Jorge Henriques, will face strong national and foreign opposition. But as always, they aim to finish the race among the best Portuguese drivers, as was the case in 2021 where they placed 7th, being the second best Portuguese team.

Estará à partida ao volante do Citroën C3 Rally2, e terá novamente ao seu lado o muito experiente co-piloto Nicola Arena, para tentar mais uma vez terminar a exigente prova açoriana, repetindo o feito de 2021.

imon Wagner is back in the Azores after several years of absence. The Austrian driver chose the Azorean race to start his 2022 FIA ERC program. If in 2018 with a Peugeot 208 R2 and in 2019 with the Opel Adam R2 the Austrian driver failed to finish the Azorean race, it is expected that now with a more competitive Škoda Fabia Rally2, this challenge will be overcome by the driver who in 2021 was crowned National Rally Champion in Austria. We will see where Wagner and Winter are in the leaderboard at the end of the Azores Rallye.

She was present at Fafe, the opening race of the FIA ERC, but things didn’t go very well as her car lost a wheel in the last stage of the rally. She will be driving the Citroën C3 Rally2 and will once again have the very experienced co-driver Nicola Arena by her side in order to try to once again finish the demanding Azorean race, repeating the feat of 2021.

O letão levou o Skoda Fabia Rally2-Kit - que tem cerca de 30 cavalos a menos que um normal Rally2 - para a vitória da classe por quase nove minutos na abertura da temporada, além de terminar em sétimo no geral. O jovem de 22 anos ficou impressionado com o seu Skoda preparado pela Proracing Rally Team, que o levou aos tempos mais rápidos em todas as especiais de Fafe, excepto numa.

ãrtins Sesks, who spent the last two years in the FIA Junior WRC but narrowly missed the title on both occasions, changed his focus to the AWD vehicles and entered Fafe Rallye with a Skoda Fabia Rally2-Kit. The Latvian drove his Skoda Fabia Rally2-Kit - which has around 30 less horsepower than its Rally2 counterpart - to class victory by almost nine minutes at the season opener as well as finishing seventh overall. The 22–year-old was immediately impressed with his Proracing Rally Team-prepared Skoda, which carried him to fastest times on all but one of Fafe’s special stages.

Apesar de ser um piloto que dispensa apresentações, convém no entanto lembrar que Miguel Campos tem um interessante palmarés, do qual se destaca um título nacional absoluto em 2002, e o vice campeonato europeu em 2003 aos comandos do Peugeot 206 WRC.
